Geee do I want one ,but I have absolutely no use for it

Have you ever done the Australian wave? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn_bwpAOmhc

Unless you live in Australia's territory in Antarctica, you need one!

We got one in the last deal a few months back, great for flying insects inside and occasional bin buzzer fly outside. Leave the corpse on the bin lid, "pour encourager les autres".

Lol are nerf guns banned too?

      • +20

Yes lol, they have to be under a certain m/s rating and all the good ones we dont get either. Literally nerfed nerf.

        • +13

had the sniper rifle one that i modified with some powerful spring and that stuff shoots the regular ammo through paper with ease at a few meters and keeps accuracy across the room. fun times.

Then I got shot in the eye from one of the unmodded ones in close range and was blinded for a month. now it gives me nightmares.

      • +4

Nerf guns in Aust were nerfed. It's been a while so I may have the colours backwards but if you look closely, the ones we get here have a grey trigger instead of orange. That signifies the lower power version that's required for them to be sold here.

No , the government won ! Direct the blame where it came from , not what the government and mainstream media tell you . The public have no resistance anymore , and now they're coming after your speech 💯

Prevent normal people buying toys but allow extremist to have multiple real guns? What a joke.😳

    • +3

      This is a joke… right?

        Right?

Does that include the 'belt fed' model as well?

makes me want to buy it just out of spite

  • +2

    C&C is available

  • +9

Haha got one for Christmas. Insanely fun. Never actually shot a fly tho

    • keeping Casper away at least !

  • +1

Great fun, but you have to wait for the fly to land before shooting. Never managed to hit one flying [yet]. Appear to be very well made.

  • +29

I'm going to buy one just to spite the NSW laws to be honest, what a joke.

Can shoot up Bondi with legitimately owned firearms but you can't own a salt thrower for flies?

    • Well, did they sell it to you? I'm curious to know if it's blocked at the checkout stage or if a human is going to (maybe) catch it

      • +3

Of course they did, I'm sending it to someone in QLD that will transport it - but honestly, AU Post would do it no issues what so ever. I don't even want one, I just want it because it's a toy gun and they say I can't have it.

    • +36

      Asalt rifle?🙂

    • The father was allowed to keep his guns even though the son was known to ASIO since at least 2019. It doesn't much thinking power to see how that was a bad idea. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-15/bondi-beach-attack-gu…

Was the son deliberately radicalised? Australian feds have been caught out doing just that before and had no shame or remorse when they were found out.
      https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-14/afp-says-it-would-rep…
      https://www.sydneycriminallawyers.com.au/blog/afp-radicalise…

      • +1

Actually the firearms license was applied for in 2020 and granted in 2023, after the whole asio thing. Also 3 years is an suspiciously long time for a firearm licence turnaround.

        • +3

Also 3 years is an suspiciously long time for a firearm licence turnaround.

The "authorities" granting the licence should have known there was someone in the same house who was on an ASIO watch list, ostensibly for connections to ISIS.

It should have been an instant rejection.

Instead, it looks like they might have taken 3 years to confirm whether they could radicalise the Dad too.

But it's okay, because now NSW has laws that will stop law abiding gun owners (who don't have any terrorists in their housesholds) from owning more than a few guns at a time… and had those laws been in effect years ago that obviously would have stopped that pair from shooting up Bondi… not.

  • +13

It's still a lot of money for something that is regularly reviewed as "point blank does nothing"

    • Yeah, overpriced just to shoot flies.

      • +6

the drunker you get, the better value it is

        • If that is the case, then spend your money on the drinks instead.

    • +3

      Perhaps they didn’t calibrate theirs.
It’s way more fun than running around with a swatter. And th laser pointer option makes this even more enjoyable.

      • +7

        Got one for Xmas.

I think the issue is the sights being out a bit. Once you compensate it's great. In my case I need to aim higher otherwise I miss most of the time.

From 30 cm away it covers an area the size of a 50-20c coin like a shotgun with birdshot. Anything in that zone gets stunned/ blown out of the air but will fly off again.
Within a 10c coin gets injured (e.g. missing wing).
Within a 5c coin gets literally blown to pieces.

You can see the above when shooting a piece of cardboard. With a zone of damage greatest in the center.

  • +24

I hate flies in my house, so glad that somebody figured out you can deal with it by flinging salt all over your floor.

    • Not a problem, my labubululublu robovac posted here recently sucks it all up

  • +3

Looks like a lot of fun if you want to larp as Supernatural characters.

  • +7

I bought the AliExpress version of this not much cheaper and probably lower quality but it’s fun and it got shipped to New South Wales no problem

    • +1

Same - I paid about $50 and it looked to be a clone of the 2.0, and not the 3.0 (the safety being a tiny lever instead of a button).

They're no good for moving targets but otherwise they are excellent devices! Adding a reflex sight also helps ;)

      • Which reflex sight and mount did you use?

        • +1

This mount and this pump handle, along with an AliExpress 'ETEE' branded red/green dot sight that is apparently no longer available.

I did eventually make a smaller/better mount that fitted better since the knockoff gun had slightly different spacings and I wanted it lower profile.

  • Cost of living crisis? What cost of living crisis?

    • +16

The cost of living crisis has always been selective, because we have a two speed economy.

If you're in a major city, on median wage, trying to afford rent or a mortgage, then the crisis is real. However, there are plenty of other people who are living comfortably, mortgage-free, with plenty of disposable income.

That's why the current policy levers don't really work. Increasing interest rates just hurts the section of the population that are already hurting, while the other section of the population keeps spending freely.

So, if you've got plenty of disposable income and want to buy a gun to spray salt all over your house, go wild.

      • -2

Interest rates target businesses, not consumers.

No one goes "Oh, the RBA has put up rates by 25 basis points, looks like I'll have to cancel that dinner reservation". But business investments live and die on financing rates.

        • +2

How about almost everyone I know stressing over their mortgage rates… They are literally hermits because they can’t afford anything other than work and childcare.

  • +8

Are folks not concerned with the amount of salt being shot everywhere inside the house? Or is that not a thing.

    • +6

Just make sure to toss some salt over your right shoulder afterwards.

      • +1

WHAT THE HELL? ALRIGHT WHOS THE DEAD MAN THAT HIT ME WITH A SALT SHAKER?

    • +3

Most people regularly vacuum so not much of an issue. Just don't fill it with sugar.

    • Just activate boss mode and shoot it backwards over your shoulder

    • It’s only a tiny bit of salt.

  • +1

Where does all the salt go ? On the ground?

    • +14

      Job for the Lubluelu

    • +1

Take the amount of salt with a pinch of salt.
But seriously it's a tiny amount each shot.
My wife asked two years ago what I wanted for my birthday (52), I said a BugaSalt, she asked if I was serious. I would run out and buy another if mine broke, but it won't as many a kid has tried and failed.

  • +1

I might try and 3d print one of these. Closest I've found is this. Anyone tried similar?

    https://makerworld.com/en/models/1072362-flygun-10125s#profi…

    • It does not recommend salt or sand because of jamming.

    • If your main reason for considering this 3d printed option is cost, just get one new/second hand from marketplace for $20-$50
Strength and durability of 3d printed parts will never match that of the real thing

  • +1

    Hail to the king, baby!

  • I just get out one of the nerf guns for kids if a fly is in the house wait it to land gone!

  • +4

How come nobody is talking about how good these are against vampires

  • +9

Got one for Christmas with the laser attachment. Laser attachment definitely increases my enjoyment significantly after dialing it in.

Surprisingly I have been struggling to find flies since owning it…I should be happy because I fricken hate flies but man I just want to pew pew them.

I do kind of dislike it though, the salt it flings around is definitely noticeable if you're shooting it a lot, the fun outweighs this imo. I don't like that often mine doesn't knock them out cold with blunt force trauma, it kinda shocks them and they hit the floor with shredded wings but still alive. Even a point blank shot obliterates their abdomen but usually the upper body is still moving. Feels unnecessarily cruel even if I absolutely hate them. I'll clean them up and crush them with a paper towel afterwards, but I do wish it was just a quick insta kill.

Beats a fly swatter for sure, and actually dealing with them has a very high success rate for little effort.

  • I need something to shoot pigeons…

Hear me out, pigeons have taken shelter high up, above the down pipe. Don't want to harm them.

Is there anything similar that won't harm them, that I could use to move on the pigeons until they finally get it?

    • Get a cat

    • Have you seen bird spikes? If they're in an annoying area you can install those as a deterrent. You often see them above building signs to stop them getting too comfortable.

    • Gel blaster, ideal for your use case.

      • +1

        Illegal in NSW

        • even the total toy looking ones? imitation firearms are illegal in VIC too where I am, unless reasonaby identified as fake. so i've got a space blaster looking thing, it could never be mistaken for a real gun. I'm not up to date with NSW laws though.

    • +1

Not sure if all will be effective, but a laser pointer can work.

At work, pigeons fly into the warehouse and throwing rolled up paper balls wrapped in sticky tape can only go so far.

Bought a 50mw laser pointer from a company in New Zealand. Used it a handful of times, pigeons don't like it pointed at their face and just flap around a bit before they piss off.

      edit - https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/online_services/firearms/laser…

Maybe start with a cheap laser pointer that you can legally own and use at home.

  • +8

I feel so safe under the NSW government knowing that they've banned this guns. Salt guns are far more terrifying than a terrrorist with 6 guns on an ASIO watchlist…..

Apparently the designers of these rules got promoted to head of machete security in VIC govt.

  • +1

Had one for years, probably the v1 version, have to say when you ping one of those little critters around the room, it’s deeply satisfying.

  • I throw my thong at flies, works half of the time

    • +5

Throw both thongs and you might double your success rate.

    • +2

Does the crotch smell knock them out?

  • Just ends up with salt all over the floor of your house

    • +2

      Should bundle with vacuum robot.

  • +4

FYI - This does not kill clothes moths. They just get stunned and/or blown away by the blast, recover and continue to eat your woolens.

  • +4

I used to think you had to hunt and kill flies that entered your property and disturbed your peace. Then I realised if I just leave a light on outside and have it darker inside they just want to go outside to the light. Apparently some don't need to die a violent death. I guess mosquitos deserve to die though.

  • Can't be picked up by below 18. I was wondering what they were. Saw the notice at the counter, and there were bug sprays behind it.

Thought it was weird that they don't allow minor purchase, but thought it was related to poisons.

  • oh yeah….legit gun to shot intruders who illegally entering your house!

  • Only one shop with stock in Perth.

Keen. Anyone know somewhere reasonably priced that posts?

    • they normally never get discounted. Bug-A-Salt always has specials on (and I mean always) normally with a combo deal. Deal still wont be as good as this one if you want the gun only

  • +1

Can NSW residents buy something similar from Ali Express and the like?

Honestly, NSW is such a joke. Be a member of ISIS and you can own as many actual firearms as you like. But how dare you shoot that fly with some salt…

  • i will wait for the belt fed version :)
