  • Only $9 difference between the 83 and 77 inchers?

    • 83" seems like the logical choice :)

      • Am I wrong in the 83" doesn't have MLA or was that the G4, I just know something about the bigger sized set was somehow worse but I could be wrong

        • None of the G5 models have MLA as far as I know.

        • These are Tandem OLED (TOLED), not WOLED.

The s95f 55", 65" and 77" are QD-OLED, and the 83" s95f steps down to an inferior TOLED panel (still much better than WOLED though).

          • @iseeyou1312: Ah my bad, I do see it's the 97" which doesn't have the tandem panel, G4 the 97" didn't include the MLA, it was the 83" G3 that didn't include the MLA so just shows you how out of the loop I've been with TVs.

  • 77 inch far from a bargain

  • If you hit the Price Check button.

    83" $5480

    77" $4976

    65" $3386

    • Arguably the best TV available on the market:

      "it is ok"…

      • Best 83" TV, not in the other sizes though.

      • Unless youre playing quality 4k/8k content, everything else will just look 'ok'

    • Should’ve got an 85 inch LCD from Aldi.

    • Coincidentally also went from a projector (200") to the G5 83" OLED (JB did a deal in-store $5720 including the LG S40T soundbar back on 10th October) I am pretty picky but can't say I see any issues on this OLED, blacks are black, DV and HDR are fine, the included ultra slim wall mount bracket is amazing if u want a flush look. I think the warranty is also better on G5 but can't remember now. Only annoyance, eARC to my Yamaha RX-A4A drops audio here and there when playing Sky News for example from the TV's native app. I just ended up getting a Shield and don't use the apps on the TV. Oh and Airplay is really nice even though it didn't work at first (option wasn't available) I think pfsense was blocking a lot of the LG crap.

        • Any particular reason why it's only just "ok"? It's a top of the range OLED.

      • the tv may be making a political statement by not playing sky news audio

      • Tivimate on android tv is what I use now. So I don't need to change inputs on the tv just amp.

That way you can use free to air with no HDMI issues

  • any good price for c5 offers hmm

      • This is a terrible take

        • I think if you are a gamer the c5 is a step backwards with the input lag problems.. g5 does not have this issue.. for mainstream media and watching the c5 is good.

          • @maverickjohn: It’s fine for gaming. My C8 is 13ms. My C5 is like 9ms. My dell aw3225qf is 1.7ms. I don’t notice the difference between the 3 and I normally do quite well.

            • @BusMan247: They might have fixed it with a subsequent update. Im pretty sure it was around the 40ms mark before

  • This was a chunk cheaper a week ago when BingLee had the additional 10% off. But still a good deal as that one ended. The 77” came to around $4300 in that deal as I had in my cart a few times.

    • I got a 77 inch and S95TR for $5000 exact at JB HI Fi last month. Very happy with it so far!

  • Looking for a price match with JB, but it is not showing up on the website for the 83" model :(

  • Paid $6400 for a 83" G4 18 months ago. The TV has been awesome and was definitely worth the price.

The gallary frame is also great. It keeps your living room super minimalistic if you run cables through the wall.

  • Great price on the 83 inch.
Does anyone know if the LG website will price match? I've got a 15% off voucher (although I doubt I can use it with a price match - but worth a shot) and their chat is closed for the day

  • Interesting they decided to drop some of these oleds after Boxing day sales.

    1) Cnet next week where new models announced for the year and
    2) Mini led has been improving a lot, now comparable to oled, getting there such as TCL C8k and half price

  • Crazy good price for an 83" G5 based on what they were priced during black friday, heaps lower.

  • Over my budget, but looking at an older C7, with panel replaced in 2021.
Does that mean it would be a C1 panel with old gen boards?
What will I miss out on?
    Cheers

  • How many good guys gift cards can you use on an online order?

Also assuming this would also work with the shop back 4% cash back as well?

    • TGG website will allow up to 3 eGift cards or gift cards to be redeemed per order. More than 3 eGift cards or Gift Cards can be used in-store.

Shopback won't work with gift card redemption as payment method, if not using any giftcards can't see why it wouldn't stack as no code is needed for the deal.

    • Remember you will need to complete purchase before the $10 "Price Beat" option comes up which invalidates the Shopback 4% which is obviously a much better overall deal.

  • My brotherrrrr I can't even fit an 83 in my apartment wth dude.

    • same lol i don't think it will even fit in my lift

  • Considering I purchased this (83inch) earlier this year for $7900 this is bargain price. However, for those that don’t have friends family that can help lift this TV and mount it. The 83inch is needless to say very big and very heavy. I hired professional electricians (2 men team) as I was also installing some custom cabling. The 2 sparkies (1 tall & 1 medium height all pretty well built being tradies) struggled to lift and mount the TV noting that were professional installers for Harvey Norman.

The TV is slim but the invisible mounting bracket requires significant attention before mounting especially if you need to account for where the wooden beams are behind the wall you’re mounting to. You’ll need to factor bottom centre surround sound speaker if you’re mounting that as well. Those are all lessons learnt from my mounting and took the sparkies two visits to finish the mounting job + properly centering the TV.

    • I don''t think it is that heavy. My 17yo son and I lifted the 83inch G4 onto the wall mount with minimal difficulty. Yes it took a bit of care tilting it into holes but it went fine

      • I agree. I paid for a sparky and it was just 1 dude. I helped him mount it on the wall.

Any two average blokes should be able to do it. If your fit and healthy. It should be an absolute breeze.

      • I agree, it's not that heavy. My 18yo daughter and I hung it on the wall. Strength wise, neither of us could fight our way out of a wet paper bag! As for the centre speaker issue. I used the paper template that came with the tv, no issue at all.

    • You gave HN $7900? Hand in your OZBargain access.

  • With the 65" G5 - is it worth waiting for a similar price to this old deal through LG - $2676.73?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/938937

    • I need one in May, so I'm holding off.

  • Thanks OP. I pulled the trigger.

Really good price for the 83 G5 here.

  • Tempting but the G6 leaks show 3,300 nits brightness, up from 2,500 from the G5 which is a pretty sizeable jump.

    • This is true but then the G7 will be 4000. G8, will hit 4500 😂😂

In saying that, G6 83 inch wont be this price for a bloody while. I just called GG store after cancelling my online order and got it for $200 less then the 5480, bringing it to $ 5280 for the 83 G5.

      • How’d you ask for that!? Did you straight up ask for a cheaper deal?

        • Just call your locals and ask for their absolute lowest price!

Each store differs from manager discretion!

    • Just remember any new model launch will always be at a premium price. If you have the money then you are essentially paying for early access to the tech whilst most wait for 6~12 months post launch for the sale with best sales often around 12 month post launch.

Money wasn’t an issue for me when I upgraded from my LG C1 to LG G5 83inch earlier 2025 but I would definitely NOT buy another new TV model anywhere within 6 months of TV launch.

So whilst G6 update might be significantly better than G5, if you’re waiting to pick it up ~40% off RRP then you might be waiting until Dec 26/Jan 27. By then by your logic; LG G7 will likely be launching or some new tech from Hiscense etc. comes online which renders G6 less attractive just like G5 vs. G6 now

      • This was my reasoning as well and ended up pulling the trigger on the 83 G5, which came to a total of just below $5k when asking stores for a further $200 off and paying with gift cards. Seems like an ATL and looking at the pricing trends for the 83, it’s a fair amount lower than it’s ever been.

So while the G6 may be brighter, any more brighter than 2500 nits seems to be marginal, especially when the G5 is already excellent in bright rooms.

Even 12 months from now, a G6 at sub $5k seems like it would be quite rare.

  • Just FOMO'd the 83' yesterday, got it for $4950 with a fridge I needed. Definitely did not need it as my 2021 Samsung probably would of lasted another year or two but I couldn't resist.

    • Incredible price. I got mine stand-alone for $5220 back ordered 2 days ago. Also didn't need one, as my 2019 C9 65" is still amazing but I have been salivating over an 83" G-series for a few years now and have finally pulled the trigger at this price, even though I also wasn't planning on getting one for a few more years. They said it'll get delivered in 4-6 weeks.

I'm getting a local installer to wall mount it for $150 with my help to liift it, compared to a two-man team for $400 via The Good Guys.

      • Same!
I have a C1 65 in the lounge atm haha.

I will be shifting that to Master Bedroom. Who is your local installer if you are in VIC? SE burbs or you elsewhere?

Also i was told by 18th of Jan it should be arriving!

        • Yep, my C9 will also be moving to the master bedroom to replace my 60" FHD Panasonic plasma (the last model they ever made) that still puts out a beautiful picture tbh. I owned 3 Pana plasmas over the years and the LG OLED was the natural successor for me.

I suspect you may have ordered before I did - either that, or they just gave me the standard backorder SLA.

You can PM me regarding the installer.

      • Yeah they knocked off $500 as soon as I said I was going to HN since they had it in stock!

Ive got my current 85' wall mounted but my samsung has all the inputs on the opposite side.. Time for some work.

  • Thanks OP grabbed the 83" G5! Chat was able to bring it down to $5220, then used 3 x $1000 gift cards making the total $5070.

    • Well done! It's same "bottom" price that I got over the phone with the head office.

Did they give you a delivery date?

      • They told me between 2-4 weeks, but wouldn't surprise me if it takes 6, this was a really solid price for the G series 83"

        • I have some good news - just spoke with the store that will be arranging my delivery and they could see in the system that the warehouse should be receiving them on the 13th, so exactly a week from now. If that eventuates, they'll be calling customers to arrange a delivery and will get delivered within a few days. However, if the warehouse delivery is missed, it could take up to the end of Jan to receive.

TLDR; they should get delivered any time from mid to late January.

          • @elektron: I was told the 10th by my guy but im not expecting it until late january

          • @elektron: Any news from your end? Online now it says limited available to some areas but most random postcodes I’ve put in shows not available.
I was told they did have some coming in so I guess I will just ignore their current website stuff!

            • @iNeed2Pee: Yeah straight up says unavailable for delivery anywhere in Adelaide now.

              • @Grayjay: Perth ironically says available. Maybe the shipment has arrived in Perth 🤣.

I’m not going panic stations yet.
                Will just wait and see

                • @iNeed2Pee: I ordered one in store on the 4th, was told eta late January. They are showing as backordered until the 27th on the LG website too for what it’s worth.

I might ring my store tomorrow and see if they have heard anything yet but not too concerned. I just hope it isn’t too late as I am moving end of next week and hoped to avoid having to set up my C1 at the new place.

            • @iNeed2Pee: I spoke with them today, apparently the shipment has arrived in the country but hasn't yet been cleared by the customs and is obviously not yet st the warehouse. They told me to give them another call in a week.

Late January delivery is looking likely at this point, based on the available information.

              • @elektron: Yup, got told the same thing and was about to comment. Good to know:)
Least I didn’t paint the wall for the nothing haha

                • @iNeed2Pee: @iNeed2Pee Must of landed in Perth because I got told the shipment didn't arrive and they have no ETA 🥲 Might take my invoice to Harvey Norman and see if they'll match it.

                  • @Grayjay: I’d hold off. I reckon Harvey doesn’t have them either. My guy said he spoke to LG rep. They should have enough this month otherwise it will be next month.

                    • @iNeed2Pee: Yesterday I checked 5 HN stores had stock and today as of 5 minutes ago they're all gone. I can't imagine anyone's buying them at full price so stock must of been diverted?

                      • @Grayjay: That’s really weird because yesterday I also checked and it just said “available soon”. So weird

                        • @iNeed2Pee: Available for next day delivery in Perth but unavailable in every other state 🥲

  • TGG has sold more of these on backorder than can be fulfilled by LG, since the G5 is no longer being made. Most of these will still be delivered but it could take through to late Feb to fullfill the outstanding orders.

Unfortunately, they made a mistake when placing my order (allocated it as a pickup from a store with no stock instead of a warehouse delivery) and I ended up at the back of the line, along with very few unlucky others who will not be getting the TV.

Their resolution was quite pathetic - the only thing they could offer me is an inferior model at a higher "cost" price. I opted for the refund. I have wasted a lot of time chasing this order over the past couple of weeks and would not have found out about this issue until much later if I hadn't been proactive.

I have found a single Harvey Norman store with a couple of these still in stock and have tried price matching but they couldn't and instead offered me their display G4 model that's been burning in their showroom daily for the past year at a slightly higher price than my G5 invoice.

My loss is someone else's gain. Congratulations to those of you who will be receiving this marvel of a TV st this price. This was made possible due to once in a lifetime supplier rebates from LG and is unlikely to be repeated in the future.

    • You should have just waited? Even if it were late Feb.

Other websites are showing backorders accepted so I’m not sure why you pulled the pin for the tv at this stage?

I mean what’s another month for a price like that realistically? You said it yourself that others are offering far less for more. If it goes through, it goes through. If it doesn’t, well we just see:)

      • My comment was quite wordy, but I thought the "will not be getting the TV" part would be clear :)

It doesn't matter what the websites are saying. My TGG contacts have confirmed directly with LG when following up on my order that the backorders had been over allocated and not of them will be fulfilled, including mine.

The fact of the matter is that they'd stopped making them and there are fewer available physical stock than what's on backorder. Why would they tell me that and lose a finalised sale if it weren't true?

I would have never pulled the pin if there was even a remote opportunity of receiving the TV at this price any time before Christmas :)

        • Apologies. I actually didn’t realise they said to you, you were one of those. Mis read

    • @elektron Just got told my a Good Guys that one shipment of 30 is coming on the 28th that's all allocated but there is 10 more coming in 3 weeks with 1 left up for grabs. I'd be questioning whatever store did your order hard to see if that's real.

      • Thanks a lot for the info, I'll give them another call.

      • Yup. Got told the same.

But I actually got told 20 are coming in and not 30.

And that the shipment coming in 3 weeks is 8 qty of them and the LG rep said he wasn’t sure where those 8 were going in regards to what retailer….

They said I wasn’t allocated than they called back and said I was in that cut off. 🤣. Not sure what to believe anymore.

        • I got told in total nationally TGG has 28 open backorders on this. Obviously, no idea if correct.

          • @saitaris: Did you get anywhere with your order?

            • @Grayjay: The store I ordered from told me on Sunday that I had a TV allocated but it may not come until early/mid Feb potentially. But who knows.

    • Did you ever reinstate your order?

      • You can't reinstate an order and I couldn't place a new one.

    • I'm basically in the same situation. Have been calling each week to confirm with the store and they kept saying the stock hasn't arrived. Now I have been told they dont have any. Waited 6 weeks for this and nothing. Has anyone else received theirs in NSW?

      • I feel your pain. They've actually made interest on your money, besides wasting your time. The worst thing about it is that besides offering a refund they gave me an opportunity to by an inferior TV at a higher price to fix their mistake.

  • I went into the store I ordered from yesterday to quiz them on an update. They said revised timings early - mid Feb now. I did push on whether I definitely had a TV allocated and they insisted I did, so we will see what happens.

    • The vast majority of the orders will be fulfilled.

    • Did the same and they told me a shipment was coming this week and I'd likely receive it next week. Seems like they don't know anything are just making up numbers.

This is actually a common problem of LG, their reps and customer support don't get any information and are clueless. The launch for the GX950 gaming monitor was a complete disaster with pre orders arriving 3 months after launch.

      • Exactly and after speaking to the LG rep today his information had changed from last week. He did not want to even speak to his boss about it. I think they are flying blind. Good Guys as well seem like they are unsure what to do with the allocation because communication between the two possibly wasn’t there as the orders were coming in.

        • I've been told mine will be in on the 28th, so should have it by the end of the week. Any news for you?

          • @Grayjay: Hey, no not just yet. I’ll give them a call this week and suss it out!
            Hopefully not too long!

          • @Grayjay: Did they call you telling you it was coming on the 28th? Or did you keep at their heels?

            • @iNeed2Pee: Went to the store just to check and they confirmed the date, and if it changes they'll contact me.
