  • I'm using kogan esim and it will expire in 30 days. Anyone knows if i buy this vodafone $189 plan, can i get cashback and can i transfer my old number over without problems? Thanks

    • Yes to both questions, as long as you activate within 30 days of purchase.

    • I was with Kogan and ported to Vodafone a few days ago. It wouldn't let me port from Kogan, kept getting an error message. I had to port to Telstra via a $2 sim (purchased at Coles), which worked, then I ported to Vodafone without issues. My guess is that Kogan is treated as a Vodafone number as it's on the same network, hence porting doesn't work.

  • I’m an existing Vodafone user from Sydney and can say it’s alright for the price I paid roughly $150 before cash back, the only thing I’ve struggled with is streaming videos while commuting, as the streaming almost stops between I.e Strathfield->Central

    • As a TPG (Vodafone reseller) living in North West Sydney, I have to say it isn't worth it.
I'm getting it for free through work and it's still a bad deal.
I get little to no reception in entire suburbs in and around my home. Where just sending an SMS can struggle, much less an MMS or watching YouTube.

      • Appreciate this comment.
I find Vodafone poor in Sydney and little better than in the past.
I was sucked in by the pricing and regret it for the next 7 months.

        • Yeah I found it terrible pretty much everywhere I've been to across South/Southwest Sydney. Even Optus has been leagues better. But nothing beats Telstra/Boost.

        • life is too short for bad reception .. chuck in bin and buy Telstra/Boost.

        • Sydney based opinion - I used to be with Boost, then went to Optus and activated Vodafone in Dec 2025. So far, it has been good. No call dropouts, no dead zones etc. hope it stays that way!

  • I'm on a Boost sim right now, can I port into this deal straight away into esim?

    • Yes you can but to a physical Sim first then an eSim.
Also Its been good thus far, 5G is not throttled with the $320 plan so max speeds, but no where near Telstra's speeds and sketchy coverage in some parts of QLD.
The price is nowhere near Telstra's as well… so an absolute bargain for something that averages $11/mth!
I noticed calls disconnect every 2hrs… so thats a bit werid, but could be an MVNO restriction as I call users on Lyca and Lebara…

      • Thanks, yeah I just purchased this as well, unfortunately have to wait for a couple days for the physical sim card to arrive and my 12-month Boost plan just expired a few hours ago so I just paid for 7 days extension. But for this killa $134, it's worth the hassle.

        • for bad reception? .. this seems like a very bad deal for the service you will receive. you are getting scammed.

      • I was using a Vodafone 28 day prepaid SIM last month and speed was not throttled on that either. They've just built a brand new tower in my suburb (all 3 carriers are on it) and standing about 100m away from it, I was able to pull 700Mbps on Vodafone 5G.

I'm now using Optus prepaid this month and it seems to be capped at just over 150Mbps everywhere I go.

  • Is it better or Optus $275 300GB (Finder is offering $150 Digital Card as cash back, so technically its $125 after cashback). Anyone wanna shed some light on their experience with Optus Network?

    • I used Optus for years, until 2022 (just before the first major debacle).
It deteriorated in my area of metro Sydney and they ocassionally refunded my monthly charge since towers were "under maintenance".
I used Boost after that, much better. But now Vodafone, not good, on par with Optus.

  • Saw some comments that Vodafone had improved their coverage so I ported over from boost.
No reception when indoors where I previously had reception. Absolutely abysmal speeds. Lots of areas within metro Sydney with garbage reception.
Not worth the savings and they haven't fixed their reception from over 10years ago (when I first swore I'd never join them again)

    • Vodafone doubled its REGIONAL network. It did not make any changes to the rest of its network. The network upgrade made no difference to Sydney.

  • on this plan, got it for 200$ with 50$ cashback from cashrewards which is now gone :P

  • I have been looking for a decent new sim 12 months plan. Often budget ones are limited to 4g. In the end, I pulled the trigger on this one. Prior to that I have been using a 1 month new sim from Vodafone and coverage and speeds are fair (North Brisbane).

  • I am waiting for TCB to come back with better offer 😉

  • I have bought 3 of these packs in recent weeks for family. Activating the first two sims and transferring number from other providers was a bit of a pain and required calling tech support as online activation and ID verification kept failing.

  • Have been using this the past month in Sydney, no issues whatsoever. Went thru ShopBack instead, had initial tracking issues, but GYB promptly sorted it out. Can recommend.

  • just to clarify, if I want to purchase two of these, I need to put them through as two seperate transactions if I want the cashback for both ?

  • The deal is back

  • I just want to share how "bad" my experience Vodafone is.

I ordered this deal pre-xmas. I have a problem with my order so I did this:
Contacted on-line chat. Tthe virtual assistant was useless, but the online person at least responded - they couldn't help me so they gave me a phone number to call.

I called the 1300 number. Voice recognition couldn't understand what I was saying (no I don't have foreign accent). I eventually hung up and dialled again. I did try saying "operator" and "can i speak to a real person".
The automated prompts doesn't allow for "Help" or "I'm not a customer" option..

    Re-dialled the 1300 650 410 service number.
I worked out that I had to say "order" …then got 1 of 3 options, which includes "issue" if I have an issue. Of course it didn't understand when I said "issue" repeatedly. I got frustrated and just pressed a bunch of random keys on the phone incl # and eventually got to a person. Yes I swore and cursed the voice recognition after so many frustrating attempts.

To keep it short, no the issue I have is still on-going and I agreed to give them them 5 days to resolve it.
I'm not yet a customer and given the experience I don't want to be. I just want a refund for my prepaid SIM.
