  • $3000 or $5000 spend in 3 months?

Title has $3000 but body has $5000

    • Yeah it's $5000 unfortunately. OP had me going there for a moment - very rare to get $3000 spend cards nowadays.

      • $3k or $5k doesnt matter anymore, inflation sure help with that anyway…

    • It is $5k… this deal wouldn't have gotten the 30+ vote if it had $5k in title tho…

  • Having to deal with ANZ's cc department is such a turn off. People calling you up to 'confirm' what you put into their application form repeatedly lol. Nab Amex westpac just approve me.

    • And even as an existing ANZ customer they will still force you into a branch to 'verify your identity' after completing the online application. No thank, won't be doing that again.

      • I’ve just been approved for an ANZ card. I’m not an ANZ customer. Everything was approved online. I did have someone call to verify things though.

      • I had to visit a branch three times to get a card and call another 5x after getting the card before I could get details to pay it off.

They'd associated my application with someone whose name was similar but every other detail was wildly different (location, income, age etc).

      • YMMV.
I'm their customer over 10yrs. Have a fee free debit card with them and churning twice every year (Rewards & FF cards). Never have to step into their branch once. All CC applications got approved within 48hrs without problem - occasionally got a call from them but that only happened in last few years.

Son applied for his 1st card last year. Didn't need to go to branch to verify.

Had smooth experiences with ANZ, NAB, CBA & (now gone) Citibank CC applications.

        • If you churn twice a year, would not your credit score get severe hit

          • @welcomeUniverseWorld: common misconception

          • @welcomeUniverseWorld: It's bouncing up and down.

I wouldn't worry too much. We're not like America where your credit score determined everything to do with loan.

FYI, I just checked my applications in 2025:
            - Opened 10 CCs
            - Closed 8 CCs
            - Rejected once.

    • I had the exact opposite experience. Dealing with NAB, Westpac and StGeorge was painful while ANZ was a breeze.

      • Worst experience with Westpac for me.

Amex and CBA are unbelievably good in comparison.

        • cba always rejects my application even for their lowest tier cc, where as ANZ seems to be happy to let me through, but they also need to call me to verify. Westpac requires me to pickup the card at the branch which is a pain!

    • so 1 phonecall is enough to annoy you, how spoilt were you growing up?

    • ANZ was the only bank to reject my credit card application. I submitted an application along with three payslips from October to December. They then called to verify my monthly expenses—which I felt was a complete waste of time—and told me that because I only joined my current company on October 8, 2025, and wouldn't have been there for three months until January 8, so I need another payslip; furthermore, I needed to close my existing Citibank credit card with a limit of $10,000 before the $6000 anz application was approved. So, after receiving my January payslip, I uploaded it with the credit card closure letter. It was still rejected. Their reason was that my income was reduced in January due to unpaid leave. Although I repeatedly explained that this was because I had just joined my current company and hadn't accumulated enough annual leave, resulting in reduced income during the company's New Year holiday, they understood but couldn't approve it and needed me to resubmit the application after receiving my February payslip. I tried submitting an earlier payslip, but it still didn't help. My Amex, NAB, and Westpac accounts are all in waiting periods, so I had to apply again.

  • I'm so torn. ANZ customer service is fkn woeful, but their incompetence also resulted in them granting me the reward twice and getting something like 200k+ velocity points a bit over a year ago..

I'm due to cycle back to them, but far out, the most painful company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

    • Did you know that they will let that slip? Or did you just try and hope for the best.

      • I didn't try for anything. They didn't award points in a reasonable time, I called to ask what was going on, somehow got the points issued twice. I assume it was an error on their end.

  • Should say up to 180,000 points because it's split 130,000 points for the qualifying spend, then 50,000 points after 15 months. Doesn't sound that great.

    • Fair enough, updated, only so much you can fit into a title!

      • I think the mods can edit the title and make it longer if need be

      • Thanks, can you please also change 3000 to 5000 as commented above?

  • Do these convert to airline points?

    • You can redeem ANZ Reward Points with certain Airline partners
      https://www.anzrewards.com/transfer/programs

    • 1:3 Asia miles and Krisflyer
      1:2 to Virgin

Probably would select Asia miles (CX) has they have much better availability for premium cabin, also requiring less taxes and less points.

      • Thanks. Interesting. Although last thing i need is anaother airline program :D 65k Velocity not too bad i guess. 3:1 Krisflyer might be better alternative.

        • Virgin is terrible for international, no availability for ANA and other airlines, only close to 1 million points for 1 way Business to TYO, compared to 60,000 for heaps of availability for HKG.

          • @Pcoder: Damn thats awful. It's gotten that bad has it? Last I flew business to the USA in 2024 and it was not too hard to get flights to the US/Asia/Middle east as long as flexible. Now that we got a baby and settling into the groove i am looking to get back into point collecting. Asia miles were looking into or better to stick to Krisflyer?

            • @Xizor: It was better for United in 2024 but i've done a lot of recent checks and the only airlines Virgin has any availability seems to be Singapore Airlines (Even then it's not great).

I checked entire months for United and ANA and struggled to find anything. Compared to Cathay where it was so easy to find Business tickets.

              • @Pcoder: Thanks for sharing. I definitely need to reconsider alternatives then!

  • 111,000 Reward Points for $500 a Colesworth card - https://www.anzrewards.com/gift_card/listing

    Around $325 in profit: -$375(fee) + $100(cash back) + $600(gift cards)

  • 130k points = roughly $585 in gift cards. Net $310 after annual fees

If you include an additional 10k points for the $5k spend, you could redeem approximately $630 in gift cards. Net $375 after annual fees

There's also the ANZ Platinum Credit card that gives you a straight $450 cashback with $4.5k spend, $0 First Year Annual fee.

    • ANZ Platinum Credit card has a different requirement which depending on how you read it could mean once in a lifetime bonus (rather than after 24 months like for other cards)?

Offer is for new and approved credit card applicants and is limited to one offer per applicant.

This comment in previous discussion though suggest it might be applicable for almost any new applicants.

      • It's not explicitly stated so could be interpreted either way. I initially understood it as one offer per lifetime.

    • *Typo correction: 140k points = $630 in GC (-$375 A/F, +$100 Cashback) = Net $355 after fees

      • Doing all these for only $355? Isn’t getting a mortgage for investment of better value?

        • They’re not mutually exclusive

          • @DryScissors: I think $15k credit limit can reduce borrowing capacity by almost $100k, a lot for an average person with medium income. Not to mention the credit check.

  • Can points covert to money? What's the dollar value of points after fees?

    • I had a similar query.

180,000 ANZ Reward Points is ~800$ worth of coles gift.
$100 back to your new ANZ Rewards Black credit card when you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval

      $375 Annual Fee

You have to hold for 15 months. So I am guessing you have to pay the annual fee twice to get these benefits.

It is around $150 of benefits so far I can see plus others holding this card for 15 months and getting a hit on credit history

      • Easy pass for me, thanks a lot for explaining this. I am new to this CC churn, my first ever CC I got last month for 3000$ spend 400$ Kogan credit. I did not realise it was Kogan credit when I signed up lol

        • I am also not excited about any credit card churning. To me, credit cards are to be used when desperate..

        • yeah it used to be worth it, now it feels like a lot of hassle and risk for very little benefit. i dont think ill be churning another card, just stick with the one i got which pays for itself in QFF on my everyday spend if used on classic rewards seats

  • Is the first year fee free?

    • lol no

      • a couple years ago that was quite common. sadly doesnt seem to be a thing anymore

  • ANZ's application process is long, tedious (the worst of the big 4) and they will call you to ask the same questions again. They also are more likely to reject people who can easily pay back the balances each month.

    Don't waste your time.

    • Second this. Got rejected with no active credit cards and excellent credit score. No instant approval/rejection.

  • Just adding to the comments recounting painful experiences with ANZ during the application process. I mean, I guess you could argue they're being extra responsible with their lending criteria, but having dealt with their customer service both during the application and as a customer, I'd say they're just really shit.

    • i dont think they are careful just bloody incompetant. i had one who kept trying to ask my earnings in a calendar year and kept wanting me to prove it despite me showing group certificates for several financial years running. no idea why they insisted on calendar year, probably overseas processing department

  • Worst bank I’ve ever dealt with for fraud/laziness. Tried to close my account and after questioning multiple times I thought I had $20 in my account, I was denied the money. About 3-5 years later after some government checks on their bank, I got a cheque in the mail for the $20 lol

I’d still go through the process for the free coin though ^^ haha

  • "You are not eligible for this offer if you currently hold or have held an ANZ Frequent Flyer or ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 24 months."

    • There used to be separate cool down periods for the Frequent Flyer Card and the Rewards Card but they recently combined it a few months back

  • Do you get any reduced annual fees if your home loan is with them?

    • unlikely

  • 4 weeks later and 100x phone calls from apparent doctors/engineers verifying my information… not a fn chance I’ll do that again.

  • Cheapest credit/debit card that gets you lounge access.

    • Not this one.

      • THANKS @timhn🧑‍🏭

        • Can check out this one

$10 a month fee. But you can cancel it after the trip.

          • @timhn: Yup googled that, but thanks

  • Stay away from ANZ if you can. Terrible customer service and legacy processes

  • Like a boss! Just submitted my application. Cancelling my nab one from the last promo.

  • Finally got free of ANZ. Worst customer service you could imagine.
The local branch is a joke. Only open till 9:30 -4pm weekdays. Have to make an appointment if you want to speak to someone - come back next week apparently. They employ a staff member to stop you walking in an direct you to use the ATM or call customer service at the overseas call centre.
Put aside at least an hour if you want to talk to someone at the overseas call centre as that seems to be the average wait time. Even the hold music is amateur - same scratchy song over and over again with the usual breaks for an advert or about how they are unusually busy. When you do get through they dont want to solve issues and only follow the script. The final straw was being told by one of their customer service staff that if I didnt like it then just close my accounts (so I did).

  • Does ANZ Rewards Black Credit Card come with lounge access? i dont see it mentioned on their website anymore?

    • No. Only the Qantas FF Black giving out 2 lounge passes per year

  • ANZ is the only bank to reject my CC applications. I can only assume it is because I have(had) 2-3 open credit cards during sign up. Although, this has never been an issue with any other card issuer.

  • We're leaving this exact card, because despite our diligent clearing of the balance by the due date as per the PDS, we keep getting smacked with interest and have to deal with customer support all the time who generally wipe it but can never explain why it's there in the first place.

    • They use to send out the paper statements that sometimes would arrive after the due date.

  • nothing is beating nab ig, I got 400$ cashback with their low rate CC.

  • Does anyone know if you can downgrade to lower fee card to effectively get a pro-rata'd annual fee?

  • I have a discontinued / grandfathered card with ANZ… Travel Adventures card (Platinum card, earns ANZ Rewards and I convert them to Velocity points). It has 0% forex margin and good travel insurance cover up to 90 days.

So - am I eligible for this offer? Is my current card account deemed an "ANZ Rewards card" and thus I'm ineligible? Anyone been in my scenario and succeded?! I partly want this card because it's up to 6mths travel insurance (and I'm overseas on long trips regularly), but of course I want the bonus points as well if I can!
