  • will this, also, have the known left-click issue after 12 months?

    • Probably. They haven't used an optical switch with these

    • My MX Master 3 is still going strong after a few years, the only issue is the rubber coating.

Prior to that the 2 old Logitech Performance MX mice I had got the double-click issue after a couple of years.

      • Agree the rubber coating sux - I got some skins off Ali Express for $5.. brilliant! feels so good!

        • Ribbed for your pleasure?

      • My MX3 has accumulated dust inside the scroll wheel so it makes it hard to scroll

        • Can probably take it apart and clean it

          • @Ehx: Its hard

            • @Homr: It's 5 screws, a torx screw, and a ribbon cable………

              • @dav3: but it's hard !

      • Totally agree, I got performance mx and mx master 3 too. Performance MX from 2016 released until 2026, still working ok without any issues. MX Master 3 just a backup when Performance MX needs charging the battery or battery is replaceable to another one. More convenient than MX Master 3/3S.

      • Got the 2 as backup and the 3 has been going strong for a few years for me too

    • My 2s is going strong except that I had to open it up and slightly unscrew one of the boards due to the stuck gesture button.

    • Not that this is ideal, but I replaced my left click on my MX3 for like $6. $3 for the switch and $3 for the new feet on ali express, and the mouse works like new. Do need to be able to solder

  • How is this different from the previous version?

    • if i didn't remember wrong, they changed the material of the skin so it won't disintegrated so quick.

      • Yeah the rubber coating is garbage on the previous mx masters', but you can *renew/fix it by rubbing some diluted isopropyl alcohol on it. Cheaper than buying the mx master 4.

        • I tried this but it got worse after a while. Now i just bought the anti-slip sticker to cover the whole mouse. probably will get MX4 when it's around $100

    • The packaging now says 'Logitech MX Master 4 ' instead of 'Logitech MX Master 3' is the major difference

    • The left and right click volume is significantly reduced, which I am very happy with. It is quiet enough that I would seriously consider buying this mouse for colleagues who tend to click so aggressively it sounds like they are trying to drive their finger through the desk.

    • Pros: No rubber coating, silent clicks.
Cons: Heavier than the original, $60 more for no reason.

  • im personally done with logitech. the shit i buy from them always end up breaking

    • Just claim warranty?

EDIT: Infinite supply of the item lol

      • idk if its just my luck but its always just after when the warranty ends. their headsets, keyboards, mx mice

  • 150g mouse… Save yourself some cash and just get the Mchose G7 Max, better firmware, build quality & weight.

    • Logitech mx master is a religion

      • Religion of trash. MX 3 rubber material deteriorates after minimal use

  • I honestly think the mx master 3 is probably the most overrated mouse of all time.

    • 100% this!! the material is trash. The rubber deteriorates after minimal use (by design!)

  • Purchased one from October, still in the box 3 months later. Still using the 3S.

Will be unboxing soon, the non-tacky surface will be an improvement.

  • I will wait for the MX Master 5 mouse when it gets released at sub $300.

  • Can't work with their hardware on official laptops with their shit bloatware loaded app

    • Yeahhhhh I'm lucky enough I have a ( partially gated) admin account on my work laptop.. They have everything monitored, some apps and sites are restricted blah blah and it goes via their security software before you install anything.. But generally they let us do what we want.

So I'm able to install logi options(Mac) for my mx m3.

But it's never been flawless. Sometimes it just won't work in the background properly. Or take several seconds to kick in upon wake.

Really missed the boat in not having onboard profiles. Why isn't this a thing on a mouse this bloody expensive?!

  • The change device button still on the bottom and the buttons on the top can't be reprogrammed without the proprietary Logitech software that can't be installed on work devices?

    No good!

    • Can you program it on another PC and the settings stay?

      • Nope, Logitech's reprogramming is all software-based, not onboard.

        • That's weird. Recently I disabled the lock key in my MX keys board using software on my PC. Which either has worked for my work laptop, or I've not used it long enough to goof up yet

    • Only M720 has the device switch button on top, as far as I know.

If you need to switch between 2 laptops/PC/Mac regularly, another way is to get a USB-C KVM, switch at the KVM instead. But this is not practical for phones and tablets.

    • This is incorrect. You can connect any MX Master to a work/corporate device via Bluetooth.
I use the switch to move between work/home laptops everyday.

      • Yeah but you have to lift the mouse up to do that. Poor design!

        • Especially if you also use a MX keyboard with switch 1 2 3 keys that don't sync up with the mouse.

It's border line unacceptable when you consider MX is their flagship productivity range.

They would say you can use Logitech Flow for multi device control, but that's an additional software dependency.

          • @browser: enough of a show-stopper for me not to buy it.

Picking up your mouse all the time just to change device is absurd for a flagship model.

I went with M720 - change the device with easily accessible button with thumb

  • I am using much cheaper Microsoft ergonomic mouse I bought couple of years ago and has similar shape and offer all the customisation one usually requires

  • Good one. The mx master 4 is great. Takes some time to get used. The software is a copy of kando

    • I’ve had my 4 for a while now at my desk and also have my MX 3S within 2 metres on my racing simulator.

Hands down the 3S smashes it for ergonomics imo. There are multiple things that contribute to it. I’ve got big hands fwiw. But yeah the MX 4 is a big let down for me and when comparing the two side by side, the 3S feels much more comfortable and premium!

Posting in case this helps anyone else not rush into this thinking it’s an upgrade.

  • Tempting… but still holding onto my existing 3S too

  • The surface of my 3S mouse is deteriorating - the coating has started to peel off. Is MX4 using the same coating?

  • Bought my 2s for $76 and it's still prime in its 7th year. Can't justify spending the $$ on their newer iterations at these RRPs and "deals," so I guess I've got myself a mouse for life… 🙃

  • i have 2 basic logitec mice sitting next to each other at $10 each on sale on amazon. one white and one black. and MX keys for keyboard. small slim light weight and single AAA battery lasts months.
why do i need a mouse that does anything more than really point and click?
seems like throwing good money at a problem that doesnt need to be solved.

    enlighten me

    • My work mouse was giving me a sore wrist, after swapping out to an MX3 for Business for work and MX3S for home use I no longer get any pain, so it's not always as simple as point and click.

  • I got an MX 3S for $99 when it was out, this seems expensive?

  • wish they release an M720S

  • $160 for a mouse, and this is sale price, crazy!

  • Thanks, I grabbed one from my local Officeworks. It’s a solid upgrade from my M100r. That thing used to go flying off my desk every time the cord got tangled on my chair or arm. Big bonus that this one uses a USB-C dongle too.

  • So keen for this but my 2S is still hanging on. Will pull the trigger once this goes close to $100.

  • Got the grey one. Pricebeat wasn't a challenge at my local OW.

  • Polling rate is still 125Hz…

    • … which is fine for something that isn't a gaming mouse, and means longer battery life

  • Does anyone have any opinions of this mouse vs Razer Pro Click V2 ?

  • Got one at OW with pricebeat, thanks OP.

  • I too got one at OW, they were starting to be a bit picky with the price-beat, but I got there in the end.

Also, for those of you who want to save a few more $$, the Logitech MX Master 3S version is now on sale for only $ 117 at Umart too, see if you can price match that!
    https://www.umart.com.au/product/logitech-mx-master-3s-wirel…

(I would have gotten that one, but it was still like ~$150 when I had to buy, sadly).

Something about the shape of the MX Master 4 felt a little better to me during setup (I haven't been able to use either extensively, one day… )

  • I tried price beat at OW. However, they said it is out of stock at Umart. So they can do this only when it is on stock!
