I don't think I have ever felt the urge to order McDonalds delivery of all things. There's always better options available.

I believe KFC does their own delivery too - maybe restaurants are going to back to offering their own rather than via Uber/Doordash again.

By "their own delivery", it's still Uber Eats / Doordash right? Just white labelled and your experience is entirely within the KFC / Maccas app.

      I could be wrong…

      • Well delivery drivers aren't downloading Maccas/KFC delivery apps…..

I'm pretty sure it's still Uber Eats/Doordash, probably their American HQs cut a deal with them to deliver under the chains' own brands.

Obviously this is completely subjective, but on those ratshit Sunday mornings after a night on the piss my body absolutely craves Maccas. It's a tried and true formula to bring me back to life and I'll pay the premium.

As expected, there is a markup per item when comparing Pickup and Delivery options
eg. 20pc McNuggets Large Meal is $27 excluding service & delivery fees. Pickup is $21.35 final price.

    • -5

Well that’s how it always works

      • +3

Hence why I said “As expected”. It is an FYI to add to the original post as it only implied service and small order fees.

        • +3

It's about muddying the prices enough with enough shouts of "Sales! free stuff!" that the average person think they're getting a deal, when they're not. Temu wouldn't have been quite as successful as they are now, if it wasn't for that strategy.

And they're getting free publicity on OzB, courtesy of OP.

        • +2

Sorry thats what the ad said, i should have done due diligence. I thought all prices would be the same in McD app and not like uber/DD.

    • When you're on the beers and can't drive there what choice do you have, it's either $27 for 20pc McNuggets Large Meal or starve to death.

      • +1

        starve to death

        so dramatic! 🤣

Whats wrong with the Ozbargain's ration, Ramen About as cheap as the 99c fee

        • +1

Cooking ramen is too mentally complex for the alcohol-addled brain.

Better still, have some Aldi $2.59 frozen nuggets in the fridge, and put them in an air fryer. Easier than cooking ramen but it requires pre-planning.

          • @safrane: True, but i recall eating ramen straight from the packet … he is starving to death.. and as you said the mental facilities probably not that great🤣

Kind of expensive and puts it in the same price range of non-fast-food options on Uber (with Uber One and discounted -10% GC from ShopBack). A Big Mac Meal is $17.55, add additional service fees and 99c delivery = $19.42. When you checkout the delivery is fulfilled by DoorDash.

You also can't order any of the good targeted deals in the app, as most of them are Pickup Only and there are no Dashpass loyalty benefits even though its essentially a DoorDash delivery

  • +1

Same prices as uber/doordash and delivered by them too. Not only are you missing out on giftcards and the free item over X spend, you have to go through more hoops for refunds when issues occur.

  • +7

    Prices are jacked. No deal.

  • +8

So (profanity) sick of "no delivery fee" or ".99c delivery" and then there's a

    Service fee
    Marketplace fee
    Delivery fee anyway
    Small order fee
Oh hey do you want to tip as well?
    Priority delivery fee
Fee for not being a fancy Uber Plus or w/e member
Fee despite being a fancy Uber Plus or w/e member

Uber Plus is very much on my shit list too, because they specifically sell you on the membership with "free delivery" and then I go and look and there's still a 7.99 "marketplace fee" because my local pizzeria uses their own drivers.

I only ever do pickup orders anyway, so it doesn't affect me, but shit like this is why I'd never do delivery short of the odd incredible deals here and there (RIP $11 delivered pizzas on Menulog that we got almost every night for a month there)

Frankly, I'm shocked they don't add 10% on top and just call it GST2: Electric Boogaloo

  • +2

Cheaper to go through the drive thru yourself

  • Pricing doesn't look any different to those on the Uber and Doordash apps. The bonus with ordering via those apps is they often offer a bonus item depending on a certain spend. So free Big Mac, Nuggets, Quarter Pounder, McChicken, etc. So I guess you have to weigh up any bonus v Macca points.

  • Free double cheeseburger with deliveries $40+
