Streets Magnum Sticks 4-Pack 428ml or Magnum Mini 6-Pack 360ml - $5.40 (Was $12) @ Coles

910

Better than half-price. Sweet deal to combat the heatwave! I usually buy the Magnum knockoffs from Aldi which are now around this price, but the flavour of the ice cream in these is noticeably better in my opinion.

Great deal but mods can we remove junk food posts while I'm on my cut, thanks

You'd have to eat them inside the Coles or else it would be entirely melted when you get home today.

A lot of these aren’t even ice cream.

I’m pretty sure Woolworths can’t legally call those peters drumstick “ice cream” the way they are.

If you actually check, you’ll notice that it doesn’t actually say ice cream anywhere on the packaging (except as the trademark “Peter’s Ice Cream”) - it’s “vanilla flavoured ice confection“ not ice cream. Yum.

And obviously also not vanilla, just vanilla-flavoured.

      Enshittification of everything.

      • Genuine question: What are they then?

        • +5

Products with <10% milk fat can't be called icecream in Australia or NZ (and other countries). They have to called something else like a "frozen dessert" or "iced confection".

Ultra-processed crap, their price reflects the quality of ingredients used.

        • +4

Usually the ingredients a biggest to smallest, and a lot the first ingredient is water then sugar .. then some milk solids and all other thickness and stabilisation ingredients.

Just looked it up … Water, Sugar, Vegetable Oil and or Cream (Milk), Wheat Flour, Milk Solids, Glucose Syrup, Peanuts, Vegetable Origin Emulsifiers 322 (Soy), 477, 471, Cocoa Solids, Maltodextrin, Flavours (contains Milk), Salt, Vegetable Gum (412), Colour (160a).

So might not even have any cream at all..

Compared to Haagen Daz, which is real ice cream.
Fresh Cream (39%), Condensed Skim Milk, Sugar, Water, Egg Yolk, Vanilla Extract.

@PVA: Yep. Poisoning us with additives.

    • Golden North is sh*t. They use gelatine, which is usually used in the cheapest vanilla ice creams.

And if you are lucky enough to live in Perth, you can get 2 boxes for $5.00 at Spudshed Stores

Thanks OP got a pack. They did not melt completely on the way home. Tastes better when slightly melted.

I reckon Magnums are another product that were much better a few years ago than the mediocrity they are today. And what happened to the Ego Magnums?

    • +1

Also curious. My fav was the double caramel ego. Cant find them anymore.

$12 for normal price while not long time ago $6 for 4 was the normal price. I'm getting my ice cream from Aldi now since the prices are still under $10 for 4.

  • -1

    Is it actually ice cream?

  • +2

These were 6 aud at full price not so long ago! World as we know has changed faster than my salary 😜

They are total garbage these days. You are paying good money for crap!

  • I much prefer the Aldi knockoff. Aldi > maybe Coles > Magnum > Woolies one is yuck.

  • Dinner, here i come!

  • Bought two boxes of different flavours of Magnum Ice cream for xmas time & once opened only tried one out of each box.

Both boxes the the internal ice cream was no longer creamy like the older recopie, the chocolate coating was like eating pure sugar and the purported flavours were lacking.

Contacted Magnum directly to complain how poorly the products now are and after they took all details of barcodes time stamps etc & advising them I would never be purchasing their products again they still refunded the costs of this purchase.

I described them as more like Ice blocks than Ice cream due to the lack of Dairy content as used in previous years.

We threw the other six magnum ice creams away on receipt of the refund amount.

Even cadbury Ice creams are better & that's a low bar to start with.
