  • Bought a month ago for $450, great monitor

    • any good to be a PC monitor?

      • +1

Good PC Monitor (with inbuilt dock and USB-C charging).

Also found it to be a good TV for streaming apps

      • +1

Yeah can confirm it’s a damn good monitor, low hertz rate but the feature set of having a TV but works as monitor.

  • +6

Be aware that these monitors can have poor clarity for text, and may not be ideal for text-based productivity. Suggest inspecting in person.

    • +6

Not my experience. Must be configured correctly as pc input
      Text is sharp

    • Can you elaborate, how can they have poor text clarity?

    • +3

I read text clearly on it all the time man. Great monitor. Plug my laptop in usb c call it a day

    • Listen to this guy.

Its the first monitor i have returned in 30 years.

Its not so much that, its more so i had along the edges alot of dimness for me,… just off putting… yes beware their not right.

  • +4

If only it didnt have Tizen OS

    • Amen

  • +2

one of best tv & monitor combo , had it for 2 years and still going strong

    • How's the speakers, I use the M5 1080p model for a bedroom TV, but the speakers are pretty tinny (not interested in seperate speakers).

      • +1

Very average. I connected a soundbar just enhance a bit.

      • +1

yeah speaker is good enough for news but not movies

        • +1

Thanks I bought a USB Soundbar, instead.

Don't get it if you want to use it as a PC monitor. They shove their OS and ads in your face so much. Do you want to just adjust brightness? Let me take you through the 'homepage', show you some ads for shows, and then give you the option to go to brightness setting. Oh you want to go back to viewing your desktop from the homepage? Pressing the back button on the remote doesn't do that, so you have to spend a bit more time there, looking at their ads while you navigate to the PC tile to enter it. I won't get a samsung 'monitor' ever again in my life.
Edit: also the remote doesn't have an input button, so you have to go to the homepage yet again and find your way to devices menu.

    • Wow that’s terrible, thanks for the advice

    • Do you still have it? Try Twinkle Tray, or another similar DDC app to control brightness and contrast within Windows.

    • Thanks @afayd, you've saved me a massive headache with my work, I would have ordered a fair few of them. But will steer clear of smart monitors

    • Same deal with Samsung TVs these days, will not buy another until they remove the constant ads!

      • So, never then.

    • Don't get it if you want to use it as a PC monitor.

I guess it depends on how you use your computer monitor, but I hardly ever need to change the brightness or input source on my monitors after the initial setup. That’s probably because I have consistent lighting in my study and use a dock to connect my devices, but I imagine there are plenty of people who also don’t need to adjust their monitor settings regularly.

From what I can see, these TV/monitors can be configured to start on the last-used input and stop automatically launching the smart hub. You could also potentially stop ads by not connecting the monitor to Wi-Fi.

as much as I have been a Samsung fan for TV's, I could never get this product category. it sucks as monitor for productivity or gaming, and it's essentially just a TV

I don't get it. I have G3223Q 32" 4K Dell IPS 144hz monitor which is perfect for productivity and gaming, and I have a ChromeCast stuck into one of its HDMI ports if I need to stream something to it. or just open web browser on PC it's connected to..

what's the use case people think it's good for?

    • +1

Blurs the line between monitor and TV. But seems to be bad at both.

Ideal use case is, you're working on a pc and feel the need to procrastinate and watch TV. Grab the remote and change the channel to YouTube/netflix.

Reality from all these reviews is that it makes that one simple task complicated and makes you go through menus and ads just to do one simple thing.

For sure better off getting a more competent monitor + streaming device… but the allure of having an all in one device is what gets people.

      • yeah I know but I find it frustrating that one even needs to blur the lines. my 65" TV in the living room has been connected to a PC for a decade+, which is amazing for a load of streaming (with a very simple VPN option if need be) and light productivity use cases. any TV becomes a good enough monitor when you connect it to HDMI on your PC, the line is already imaginary pretty much if you ask me!

    • +1

How do you turn the chromecast on and off, just with the remote? Does it automatically switch from the desktop and back again?

Because that sounds like a great option

      • I have a shortcut set up for one of the monitor buttons to switch inputs. for my use case (I stream to that monitor about twice a year, if that) that's convenient enough. most of the time I would stream to my 65" living room TV. or if I want to watch something on my 32" monitor, I would just play it from my PC connected to the monitor

I got this monitor during the black friday sales and found the text display quality good and the speaker sound quality quite okay, definitely not tinny.

The big problem is the "smart" part, and for samsung it is an ad playing machine. I got it to be a PC monitor as there were no other convenient options at this price point. Not being a "dumb" monitor it didn't behave simply in that it wasn't easy to have it simply go on when I switched on the PC and go off when the PC shut down - I fiddled with the settings and could almost behave but then wouldn't come back on easily when the PC came out of a sleep state. It may just be a matter of changing some more settings but they aren't obvious.

Well I have sacrificed all the "smart" functionality as I wasn't going to get a samsung user ID and log in and thus there wasn't much use to set it up on wifi. Samsung won't share any if the smarts unless you watch its ads and share your use data with it. There may be some features that you can use without logging in but probably nothing associated with wireless/internet connectivity. If anyone has any ways to use some smart features withiut logging in please share. Well I found out you can use it to play media from a usb stick.

I feel it does the job and this is even a better price than I got from jbhifi.

  • Seems like a legitimate way to get Samsung TV Plus.

  • Bought one of these a few years ago, its great. Can have it as a monitor for your desk in bedroom, works perfectly as a tv as well. Dynamic backlight is actually pretty good. Please note, if you want external sound, you need to feed it to something with HDMI ARC, it doesnt have a headphone jack. Really happy with it, a good purchase.

    • Use bluetooth headphones or speaker.
My buds are detected when nearby

  • +1

Don't recommend, the thing randomly turns on in the middle of the night :(.

    • +2

      my thing does the same

    • +1

Turn off with remote. If left on auto standby, it will look to connect when it senses a wireless connection

  • Purchased to use with work laptop when WFH beside by gaming rig, will serve as a console tv/ plex machine otherwise.

  • +2

I have this monitor, the only issue is the monitor stand isn't sturdy.

If you dont have a solid table, you will see the monitor actually bob slightly, left to right when typing or any slight movement of the table.

  • Is it recommended for using it with MacBook Pro? Need one for video editing.

    • My wife was using this monitor with a MBP and it was a nightmare. We constantly had issues getting the monitor to display a picture - the laptop recognised the monitor was connected in System Settings, but the monitor itself refused to display a picture and would turn itself off after a while of not receiving a signal. We tried multiple dongles and cables to fix the issue but could never find a solution. In the end we just swapped it for an LG model that’s never had an issue. Maybe we got a lemon, but it was an infuriating experience and I’ve avoided Samsung monitors since.

When it was working, I don’t think the colour accuracy would be great for video editing out of the box - you’d need to do some serious tweaking.

    • Asus ProArt 27" 5K or 32" 6K. 218PPI which is perfect for Macs. Also, they come with Mac specific settings.

      Not cheap, but worth it.

      • how's the price difference?

  • Looks like an old model, based on a tech review done on 2021:

    • USB 2.0 ports with 4K/60Hz, that means DisplayPort 1.2 Alt-Mode for USB-C (old and not ideal, nor good for HDR).
    • No VRR support (at 2021, it probably wasn't the norm for 4K/60Hz monitor / display / TV).
    • VA panel, WiFi 5

Price is tempting… so try to resist FOMO.

  • +1

    Its a VA panel ;(

  • Any tops for a 34" monitor in this price range, for office based work? It won't ever be used for gaming.

  • Just got delivery. The speakers are freaking bad. I use a very crappy $10 k-mart sound bar for PC audio, and was hoping to ditch it when I got this monitor. The k-mart sound bar sounds like a million times better than this monitor's built ins. They're so tinny that even on low volume watching an MKBHD video his voice sounds almost like it is peaking.
