The Shrimp MODEL 1 Ultracompact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Pinky) $29 + Delivery (Online Only) @ JB Hi-Fi

260

EDIT: Product has been OzBargained. URL is no longer active. I was able to get one at the time of posting though.

Was just browsing keyboards online when I found this deal.

I looked up the RRP online and it was around the $100-$150 mark at a few different stores.

Seems to be an obscure keyboard company that was trying to sell to the Australian market but it didn't really work out. I found the keyboard listed as OOS at a few other Australian retailers.

Now JB is selling their stock at a clearance price.

Pretty good price for someone looking for a nice little accessory to add to their desk. I kinda wish they included the T and G keys but for $29 I'm not gonna complain. It comes with a magnetic wrist rest that attaches to the bottom of the keyboard.

  • Good review on Tom's Hardware

Might buy one and paint it, haha, not quite my colour

  • I'd say it's alright for shooters but not really viable for MOBA and RTS

    • I would say yes for shooters, a maybe for MOBA's depending on which game you're playing and a no for RTS or RPGs.

A definite no for any sort of game chat though.

The story reads better like this:

I looked up the RRP online and it was around the $100-$150 mark at a few different stores

    …and then

Seems to be an obscure keyboard company that was trying to sell to the Australian market but it didn't really work out

    • My bad. Didn't think about the structure too much. I'll edit now. Cheers

      • Haha, I'm just joking…as in, it's not a surprise that it didn't really work out charging $100-$150 for a wasd keyboard. All good @tacos4brekkie 🤣

    • Thanks. GPT

It can help shorten your replies using 12 or less different letters.

Quirky. I'm in the weird category where I like flat keys for typing and general use, but mechanical keys for gaming. Worth a shot.

Delivery only from 9.99 or something

Yes, I typed (Online Only) in the description. I've got delivery from $4.99 in Metro Brisbane. Please let me know if I should have typed it differently.

If anyone is looking for something similar for a reasonable price, I have one of the following and it's really decent.

$50 USD there and doesn't ship to Oz, cheapest seems to be on eBay for $95… so pretty big difference…

I've had bad experience with Reddragon so far, both keyboards I got from them started not detecting their dongle or bluetooth just outside warranty period and seems a common issue - at least they still work via USB.

      • it looks identical in style to my evga keyboard

No deal, doesn't have the letters to type 'gg ez' in all chat

  • Think it's been taken off from the site? Can't find it.
Any other recommendations for a gaming keypad?

    • +1

Yes, the site has been OzBargained. I was able to confirm an order at the time of posting though so it wasn't a dead listing or anything. I am willing to bet that a few of us here got the last few in stock.

Another commenter here recommended a keyboard above that's similar.

  • Bugger, was in a meeting and now it's gone :( ah well

  • Pretty quirky & cool, I like that it is USB-C.

    Great price!

JB are fkn weird for pulling down a page just because its out of stock

    • From OP:

Seems to be an obscure keyboard company that was trying to sell to the Australian market but it didn't really work out. I found the keyboard listed as OOS at a few other Australian retailers.

Now JB is selling their stock at a clearance price.

Once JB sold what they had they won't ever be getting more, it makes sense to remove the product page for something you don't carry at your store.

SEO, specs, web traffic to other items would disagree. Its not best practice.

    Found this review:

We are far from sad. Few flaws. Raw, fast, and rare

    • Weirdly cryptic/poetic. Got a link for this?

      • Sorry I thought people would pick that up as AI straight away

        • +2

Could be a review that was machine translated from another language, depending on the language some of them translate very poorly.
Reading some of the Russian reviews left on AliExpress that come up as 'auto-translated' make me scratch my head.

How does this compare to a full keyboard, which I can also afford?
