Gone are those days with 50k Bonus Live Better Points

  • +1

FYI, the following is returned when you use the '6WEEKSPLUS' code with a policy start date in February:

To be eligible for this offer your policy start date must be on or before 18/01/2026 – please review your policy start date to receive this offer, or remove the promotion or referral code to proceed.

  • The previous promotion before this was 50,000 points. I don't think those days are necessarily "gone", I suspect they will come again. Possibly BUPA is a better deal - you get 6 weeks free after only 28 days, not 42 days.

    • I'm sitting on it waiting to jump off it.

      • +1

just signed up with Frank… sounds like after frank will be Bupa is they still have the deal. Medicare seems to have the 50k points happen quite often, wouldn't jump all over it.

Can you tell me what's available to redeem with 30k livebetter points? Are airpods 4 with active noise cancelling on there? Thanks!

        • +2

AirPods 4 with active noise cancelling is exactly 30k points! I’ve redeemed a pair already with previous offer.

The reward offerings are pretty slim, not quite worth going back to Medibank again in the future.

They also did me dirty by not applying my youth discount even after I provided the transfer certificate, I’m sure they would’ve caught many who don’t check.

  • Is it up to 30,000 or up to 50,000 liver better points? Titles showing 50k and description 30k, doesn't match with each other.

  • last year i got 50k for family

worst gift card redemption policy in the history of gift cards. ALso crap selection of gift cards

    • +2

i used it to pay for premiums which made it an extra 4 weeks. Might get a apple watch this time instead and either sell it or give it away as bday present.

      • +1

Redeeming for premiums is less value than gift card options.

You would think that premium redemption should be at least equal value to other options.

        • +1

Also limited in how many premium reductions you can use in a year.

        • +1

          Depends..

For example, using the Adidas giftcard you are ineligible for any other promotion code (recently 40+ 10% bonus), and also no cashback payable from cashback sites using this giftcard (an additional 20%).

Also, many of the giftcards need to be spent in one hit, or you forfeit the rest.

I found the premium payment equal on face value to the rest. The fact they only let use one $200 premium payment (or 2 x $100) per 12 months I guess shows they feel the same.

          • @tunzafun001: Can you tell me what's available to redeem with 30k livebetter points? Are airpods 4 with active noise cancelling on there? Thanks!

Last time I got the airpods and some iconic gift cards but that was with 50k points. A screenshot of what's available would be amazing!

            • @Brick50: Sorry, I've left.
I'm thinking around 10k pts per $100 off memory.

I got Adidas, Iconic, Onsport (or something like that which had ripcurl stuff cheap) and Amcal pharmacy giftcards.

Specsavers and that was about it. They changed apple redemptions when I left. Got a feeling airpods were on clearance or something, and you can't access them any more

  • Switched as part of last promotion, got 50k points and 6 weeks free.

    • This one also had the $300 gift card from Finder if you signed up at the start of the month when I signed up.

  • Note you need to sign up for Medibank Bronze hospital and extras cover.

    • Or silver or gold!

      • No basic

        • Where does it say no basic?

          • @Brick50: Join Medibank

Join eligible Medibank Bronze hospital and extras cover or above, and maintain cover for 42 days for points.

            • @pandadude: Can't believe I missed that, I guess any extras cover is eligible though?

              • @Brick50: I believe you get 6 weeks free but no point since you need bronze to sign up for Live Better Pts.

However, people on extra only can sign up for Live Better Pts.

Seem a bit dodgy to be super honest.

Even the ahm stuff in the rules. The rules specifically only state you won't get the sign up deal for ahm. No restrictions on going from ahm to medibank.

                • @pandadude: I remember last year I signed up for a very similar deal for the 50k live better points. I fulfilled all the T&C and didn't receive the points in the timeframe they stated. Then they were trying to take out premium payments still when I had disputed it.

Thankfully in the end it was all sorted, but it wasn't easy. I don't typically have health insurance so don't want to be making any extra payments that aren't necessary

                  • +1

@Brick50: The thing is the gift card for Medibank is kinds not great.

To be honest l move between ahm financial year to calender year company every 6 months. I max out the extra excluding dental. Moving more than twice is a pain.

Medibank mid extra products have decent pay out compared to Bupa. I normally stick with ahm 60 and hcf mid extras or similar products. First 6 month prepay or monthly then prepaid quarter. Then second 6 month paid monthly. Sure you lose the prepaid discount but I am on the view of use it lose it. If your not max the extra benefit the question has to be asked why even buy it.

Does switching from different cover providers count as new customer once a year?

    • +1

Your question is very unclear. If you switch from a different provider, it doesn't matter which cover you had with that provider in terms of you being a new customer or not for Medibank. It just affects waiting periods as waiting periods transfer across if you held the same or better cover.

    • -1

The answer you seek is in the terms and conditions. You just need to read them.

  • Join as a couple on Bronze Plus Value Hospital + Essential Extras and use weekly billing.
Cost is about $264/month, which works out to roughly $61/week.
Because billing is weekly, we’d pay 7 weeks total (~$427) to cover the required 42 consecutive days, plus the next billing cycle.
After that, 6 weeks free is applied (no payments taken for those weeks).
During or before the free period, we receive 30,000 Live Better points, worth roughly $300 in gift cards.
Extras waiting periods (2 & 6 months) are waived under this promo.
Optical benefit is $200 per person per year, usable immediately, including prescription sunglasses and lens coatings.
Both of us can also claim a dental clean/check-up straight away.
Once the points are credited to the app, the policy can be cancelled.

Does this sound right? I don't typically have health insurance (can't afford it) so would basically only be buying it to get the points, optical and dental benefits then cancel.

Based on this, total paid is around $427, with about $700 in value back ($400 optical + $300 points), not counting dental.

    • Need to factor in where you can use the gift card. Should really be discounted if you don't use these gift card provider. Full price if you do.

Note don't forget the surcharge if you haven't maintain private health since 31.

If you gotta pay surcharge the extra only might be a better option.

      • I believe you can use it to get Airpods 4 with ANC for 30k points ($220-$250ish value IMO) so you're right.
I am <31y/o so wasn't aware of the surcharge.
