Impressive price. As mentioned in the previous deal there's 200pcs allocated for the AU stock.

  • +4

Any idea if these can be run in a mesh natively (I have another flint 2)?

  • +5

Flint 2 best router I’ve owned. Almost want to buy another one as a spare :D

    • Ditto!

The only issue I've run into is that it resets the hardware and software network offloading options when it power cycles, and I'm not quite sure why.

  • Any idea who they use as a courier? My was a non-delivery and I have no way to get in touch. The delivery number starts with the word CODE followed by numbers.

    • Usually iMile

      • -1

Imile was excellent for me. They delivered my Rolex homage watch at 7am. 7 days from
        China.

        • +1

ahh yes a Rolex direct from China via iMile!

    • +2

Depends on where you live. Auspost, Aramex and iMile are common. Since I'm in a zone with no iMile I often get Auspost.

      • Cheers vergs and Clear. Looks be be Auspost, I've added it to my tracking there. Showing as pending…

    • +2

It's CODexpress. codexpress.com.au. Their tracking is abysmal (use AliExpress as it offers the most detail).

      • Thanks Gav looks like this worked as well as Auspost (above).

    • i ordered from their website, last year, and it was delivered by Amazon.

      Perth

  • First time trying to work out this from a more off the shelf mesh router.

Anyone got any reconmmendations on cost effective APs that will go well with this?

    • Tp link omada WAPs are good value.

  • Sold out? I just tried to add it to my cart after a failed transaction and the price has gone up to $161

    • Still works for me although I didn't try to make the purchase

      • Hmm mine isn’t for some reason

      • This item can't be shipped to the selected region.
aussie plug. what am i doing wrong?

    • I bought one about one min before $123aud

    • literally just worked for me as well.

    • Just worked for me. Decided to buy another one for mesh…and price went up to 161, so noped out on the second. First one was still 123 for me.

      • +2

yea aliexpress usually does dodgy price hiking based on your browsing behaviour

        • +2

Purchasing behaviour too. As soon as you purchase many items go up in price (for evidence use a wishlist and compare pre/post purchase - prices can rise a LOT).

        • Maybe the deal only applies to one purchase?

  • click go to deal, click on purchase add code and that message comes up. eve tried with no code and paypay gets rejected.

  • OOS

    • Got it the second time round. Thanks OP 🙏

  • Oos

  • Is this better than a rooter telstra gen 3 modem?

    • +4

      Far better

      • Is this better than Google Mesh? Thanks

        • Yes. In speed and features, mesh would proba ly cover more area but personally I would buy 2 of these instead.

    • World's ahead, especially if you have multiple people using the internet and absolutely if there's anyone playing online games.

  • Bought from previous deal, arrived within 12 hours which was amazing service. Great modem, can reach max speec on 500/50 which I never get from previous modem from Telstra.

    • +7

Just a small correction as this post has the potential to confuse those less tech savvy should they happen upon it at a later date.

The Flint 2 is a router and does NOT have a built in modem, if you want to use it with a FTTN connection you will also need to have a separate modem.

Totally agree though, the Flint 2 is a great piece of kit.

      • If you have NBN FTTN they will have provided you a box connected to the cable that runs outside, that is a modem for all intents and purposes and you can plug the ethernet cable coming out of that box into the WAN port of this router.

        • Not always. Not in apartments…

  • Managed to get one just now. Card was being blocked by the bank. Now I have two pending charges that I need to wait to reverse

  • +1

back in stock as of this writing, what firmware does this run on out of the box and is it good? do I need openwrt?

    • +1

If you are like me you will be fine to run standard out the box

    • +2

The stock version out of the box is awesome. Very clean interface.

    • The official firmware is based on openwrt and provides direct access to LuCI by default. So it provides a user friendly wrapper that is honestly very functional, without compromising anything OpenWRT is capable of.

  • how is this compare to erro7?

  • Errr, how do I actually buy this? All I can see is a "Find Similar" button….

    • Swap to AU plug option

      • Already had. I can only assume it shows the "Find Similar" button if it's out of stock…

  • Can we talk about the fact that aliexpress is temperamentally accepting or rejecting transactions?
Tried paypal (paypay), card, multiple charges done for the same user account and basket, then account blocked or suspended.

  • I can only Buy Now, not add to cart, which then doesn't allow coupon codes to be applied - nothing in cart.

    • I hit buy now, then added the coupon code in the next screen. Paid $122.98 though, so probably paid too much.

  • +1

Thanks, bought one. Used the code 'AUJD10'; AU stock and came to ~$123 AUD after tax.

  • I am using one of these as my main router connected to the main FTTP connection. The internet is not strong at the far end of the house. Would buying another one of these help, noting that I do not have ethernet set up in the house and no access points.

    • +1

Ideally you should run ethernet to the other end of the house and connect it to an access point. Running cables can be easy or hard depending on the breaks.

      • This is the way.

Get any off the shelf router, disable DCHP and don't use the WAN port for anything. Plug incoming into 1 and other devices into 2+, set up WiFi with identical settings incl. name & password, but feel free to change the channel.

  • Do these use a radius server?

  • +1

Back in stock! Just grabbed one.

  • +1

Thanks OP, just scored one at 10pm. $118.62 charged to my Macquarie Bank account.

  • Oops missed out. This item can't be shipped to the selected region

    • Did you pick AU plug. Did you select AU address at checkout?

    • +1

Update your address at checkout and it will work. Comes to $122.98 for me though.

      • Thanks i did this and got one at $122

  • This or wait for OpenWrt Two?

    • +1

      I don't think it's really a practical choice

      OpenWRT has no release date

They've said it will cost around USD$250 so more than 3x the price of this deal

On the other hand, if you want WiFi 7 this isn't going to cut it for you

  • back in stock

  • +1

Thanks OP, looks like I got the last one. OOS now

  • Is anyone running these in Access Point mode without problems? I already have an OPNsense router. So, looking to get one to use purely as a desktop AP. Google AI has returned:

"Yes, users report issues with the GL.iNet Flint 2 in Access Point (AP) mode, including unstable connections, slow speeds, frequent dropouts (especially during roaming), difficulty accessing the interface, and sometimes one of the 2.5G ports being disabled, with solutions often involving specific firmware versions or factory resets, but problems persist for some. Common problems include client devices getting stuck or losing internet after switching APs and general Wi-Fi instability, suggesting potential firmware or configuration complexities for a seamless "dumb AP" setup. "

    • +1

Problem there is google or AI just filter the web for comments on flint 2 AP, of course there are going to be a larger amount of posts of people having issues as no one gets it working and then posts FYI world I got this working. I guarantee the number of issues vs success is very small.

      • +1

Also the flint 2 did have problems initially at launch, but they fixed it with a firmware update. So AI is seeing all those comment about people having problems and not smart enough to realise those should be filtered out when generating it's slop"

    • I wouldn't bother with access point mode as you can just disable DHCP and it will play nicely with other stuff on your network anyway.

  • they still have US plug ones on offer but who wants the expense of buying an AU plug pack.

  • Doesn't allow me to purchase the US plug version with Australian address. Keeps saying "This product can't be shipped to your address". Ah well… wait for the AU Plug version to be back in stock again.

    • +1

US plus is most likely US stock. So will only ship to US addresses.

  • +4

AU plug is back in stock. I just purchased one. Thanks OP.

  • +2

purchased (AU plug) with Topcash 13% rebate.

  • The AU plug is just an attachment and they still include the US plug inside the box anyway, (at least in the one I got). So kinda weird they would sell out of the AU plug. It's just an attachment that probably costs 50 cents thrown into the package.

    • AU plug means local Australian stock.

      • Mine says it will ship in 9 days though. Hopefully it will arrive sooner. It's probably expected to arrive in AU then ship out.

        • Mine said same. Ordered 10pm on 12/1. Arrived 11:30am on 14/11.

  • I currently have a TP-Link AX55pro ax3000.

Would this be a noticeable improvement in terms of wifi speed or wifi range?

    • Depends on your scenario and if you haven't encounter any issues, you might not notice the difference as both may be limited by the NBN bandwidth.

  • Why am I getting "this product can't be shipped to your address" with any address / state that I've entered? The US and EU still have stock so it can't be stock level.

  • OOS again. Was quite the tease when I saw the deal without the red banner.. Does anyone know if they'll be adding more stock again anytime soon?

    • Back in stock atm - I got it for the ~$120ish price, but now that I look again it's showing $157.88 without the code….

      • +1

Purchased 5 mins ago with code for $123.

  • -3

I want to buy but do not have Ali express account and don't like to open one there so any other option looks expensive in Amazon

    • No

  • My order is shipped. But doesn’t mention the courier. Tracking number starts with TBAU. Any idea who is the courier?
Update: it may be Amazon Logistics.

  • How have I missed a deal on this thing EVERYTIME

    • Don’t worry. Flint 4 was just announced and it’s a beast.

    • +1

Just bought 5 mins ago. So buy now or keep checking.

    • +1

@SysAdmin quick, AU Plug back in stock.

    • +1

Back in stock buddy. Grab one

      • Absolute legend mate, just ordered.

  • Any news when the next sale is? I missed on the last one. Found the problem. ready when you are.

    • Looks like it's back in stock for the moment, I just bought one. Get in quick!

      • +2

Just got mine, paid ~$122. Not as good as the original deal, but close. Listing on aliexpress has now gone back up in price
