Okay if you have < 50m2. If more then it’s not worth it, these mowers are straight crap. Better off getting a returned HP model or off marketplace. I grabbed the $599 version for $100 including the 6Ah battery…

How did you manage to get it so cheap?

It was returned to Bunnings for some reason and they discount them, comes with refund policy for warranty (not replacement). There was a 2023 model for $100 or 2025 model for $200. Both incl batteries. Just right place right time.

I never found such thing I'm our local Bunnings.
Last week I saw a line trimmer in the clearance section, priced $149. The new one on the shelves just 5m away costs $99.
I asked the Bunnings worker, and he said there were missing screws, no box, hence that price ($50 increased) :-)

          • @Averell: Must have been a different model

@saurabhgoyal93: no, same model. I then showed him the new one, he tripple-checked, and then added a new label to change the price from $149 to $49.

Agreed 100%. An underpowered lawn mower won’t save anyone money unless they completely undervalue their time and energy. Lawn mowing is painful enough already and doing it with inadequate tools just to save a tiny bit of upfront investment will burn way longer than the initial outlay. Speaking from experience 😌

No, this has its market. Its for old folks and for very small lawns. Does the job easily. I have a 18V ozito which I used to scalp the QLD couch grass at a rental with 50sq meter backyard. Later got a used Ryobi 40cms from marketplace. Definitely saves time, but that Ryobi 40cms definitely feels heavier for old folks especially when turning around. I am not old, just saying.

      • Agree, this is the entry level (make Ryobi money) model. At minimum 40-42cm cutting width is desirable, at don't get me started with that flimsy handle posts

Ferrex lawnmower for $200 was a much better deal than this, 36v (or 40v as claimed).

I had this mower. It's crap. I returned it 2-3 months later.

I have 14sqm of buffalo grass. The 4ah battery did last down to 1 bar. M biggest issue is that the mower doesn't have the power to cut through buffalo, half the time the blade is coming to a stop so I had to step back and go really slowly. I got the 36v one in the end and even then its ok 6/10.

When the 36v ones can struggle at times with buffalo grass if its left to grow just a week in humidity, I cant imagine how under-specced these ones are.

I have had this mower for 5 year now. It definitely works as intended.

had this. piece of crap didnt last

  • I have one to use on the nature strip up the top of my property. Its only good for fine leaf grass and unless you have to carry it up a buttload of stairs like me, its not going to be the best option.

  • This price seems to be the RRP yes?

I'm wondering if it's worth getting this one - I live in a corner block, and I'm really only getting a lawnmower to handle the nature strips on the two sides of my block where they are located. I don't have any lawn within my property.

I used to use a DeWalt one as I have DeWalt batteries, but beyond the fact that it died a couple of months in, it also generally had power issues (might be the batteries not being strong enough or something), and I bought it second hand, so I don't have warranty.

  • Even a 36V without self-propulsion can struggle, let alone 18V.

    • Yep, keep in mind the cutting width is greater on the 36v model

  • Had this mower for 4+ years. Def only designed for small backyards (ie townhouses) but gets the job done for my Kikuyu. I picked this up when it was part of the Ryobi bundle (included line trimmer / blower). If i recall it was about 300 then but I havent seen those bundles in years so doubt its ever coming back.
