AirAsia O/W: PER/MEL/SYD Direct → Singapore $126/ $191/ $262, Bali $130, HKG $209, Tokyo $254, Vienna $387 & More (via KL) @ BTF

911

For the most part, these are prices for Air Asia flights, (my favourite LCC). On some routes, however, a cheaper airline has presented itself and frankly, it's worth showing (Air China, Batik, China Eastern, Jetstar and more).

If having trouble loading site, try the subdomain at https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/ - I'll work on a fix tomorrow.

All fares are one way and include carry-on.

I've gone through all the sale dates that I'm aware of and include ALL of those dates and prices on the post, which is FAR too big for ozbargain's character limit. Hope it helps spot the cheap dates!

Also consider:
- Tokyo/Osaka/Seoul from Sydney from $484 return, Melbourne $533 return, Brisbane $571 return, Perth $591 return, Adelaide $795 return on China Southern
- Air China: Europe eg Melbourne/Sydney to Paris $802/ $820 Return, London $870/ $887 Return and More
- Europe eg Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney to Istanbul $676/ $685/ $688, Geneva $700/ $707/ $711, Budapest $728/ $738/ $743 & More on China Eastern
- Singapore Airlines Return: Hong Kong from $580 Return (Jan-Nov)!
- One Way flights to Europe from $368!

@beatthatflight your website is returning "Too Many Requests"

    • +1

Yeah, that was weird, it was happening for me too. I've had much bigger load in the past, in fact traffic as I write this is higher. My best guess is an oddity with the size of the post - it's rare I have tables that big, and browsers preloading urls in the tables. Because most people are only loading it once, so 429 for your browser shouldn't happen :/

I've had much bigger load in the past

Back to the original question though, please

        • +10

I heard it in my head as I typed it…. :/

Have turned on some more caching on my CDN, but I've not seen this issue before. Wondering if my hosting has changed something over the new year. All I can suggest for now is that if you wait 3 minute and reload, it should work - at least it did for me. I'll have to spend some time debugging tomorrow if the issue persists.

Thanks OP, I would think grouping by starting city would make it much more readable as most humans reside in a particular location when they plan their travels.

Cannot find these prices in first two weeks of July or Oct? @fry001 @beatthatflight :
        .

        Sydney → Tokyo (Haneda) (19 Jan – 24 Oct) — from $254

    Too many requests -_-

  • +1

New to saving money on flights is it best to book one way tickets rather than return flights to get the cheapest prices?

    • +3

      Depends on the carrier.
Usually for international trips a return airfare is cheaper.
But sometimes the saving isn’t worth the flexibility of flying out of another destination you’re visiting

      • +1

Ditto, not Asia but it's over $700pp cheaper to fly Milan return than my original plan Milan-Venice.
Even worse if you do 2 one-way flights, Milan is 80% more expensive than a regular return lol

  • +3

    These layover times are…impressive.

  • Yep, doesn't work for me either

  • Site not working

  • I think We’ve crashed your server

Too Many Requests. The user has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.

  • Cannot get results :( Any idea on deals for Bali in first two weeks of July?

  • -2

It works for me via VPN

  • +10

What does "PER/MEL/SYD Direct → Singapore, Bali, HKG, Tokyo, Vienna & More (via KL)" mean? It's either direct flights or it is not. It makes it sound like nonstop flights, but every destination seems to actually stop in Kuala Lumpur. Not really “direct” in the usual sense that is referenced on this website.

    • +1

Think the only value is for South East Asian flights as the prices for other destinations are too close to some of the Chinese airlines where you get Food and Drink, Luggage and a more comfortable seat (9 abreast a330 is very tight)

      • +1

Yeah and no deals anywhere in school holidays:(
July or Oct first two weeks.

        • I mean, sadly that's when demand is gonna be up, not cheap

    • +1

Yeah the KL stopover basically makes the whole thing horrendous and not even an option (personally). I don't want to wait 17 hours in a giant shopping center just to 'save' $100 that I'm basically just re-spending on hotels or low quality food anyway.

  • Website still struggling to load

  • How about to kul?

  • any deals just to KUL?

  • Can’t get much to work on the website

  • +1

Was wondering as to when AirAsia obtained an Okinawa airport slot, figures it was just Scoot.

  • +9

Good prices but for a reason. I always have to point out that the trade off for price, is your comfort.
Air Asia cram on 9 seats per row in a 3-3-3 configuration on their airbus A330s, whereas most other carriers configure their A330a with 8 seats per row in a 2-4-2 configuration. Be warned.

    • Agree with this. It was uncomfy, however dirt cheap.

    • -4

Meh, its only a few hours. Suck it up.

      • +4

9 hours is a whole day realistically.

        • -4

If sitting in an upright chair for 9 hours is unacceptable then you have a really really easy life.

  • +3

I must have graduated beyond my backpacker miser stage of life, because I see those horrendous/pointless layovers and wouldn't do it if the flights were $50. Still, good for someone who doesn't mind them and cares about nothing but the $ figure.

  • +1

    Which flights are direct?

  • Does anyone remember when used to cost $179 to KL from Gold coast. Prices have doubled and you get price gouged with the luggage fees!!

    • +1

To be fair, Air Asia went bankrupt and stole a lot of people's money during covid, so it was apparently never sustainable.
It may be worth paying more just so we know they will still be operating in 5 year's time.

  • +2

My favourite LCC by a country mile, and i love their food and the extras / accessories are always considerably cheaper than the other airlines. besides a lot of standard fare airlines are trying to make people pay for seats now anyway

  • +1

So, Idk if the developer reads these comments, but it is really painful using this site. Every time you change dates, all your filters (airlines, times, etc) reset.

    • +1

I'm half way through a rebuild of the site, especially after the loading issues with the server last night. Deals pages first, and then the actual search part will come before mid-February, as it's a bit more complex…

      • +1

I hope you tone down the obtrusive advertising while you're doing working on it. I load up this site and the entire front page is an ad, one taking up the top half of the screen and another in an overlay on the bottom.

Suffice to say I didn't bother looking much further. Just so many ads.

        • Very brave on anyone to open any webpage on the internet in 2026 without an ad filter on like the ublock origin

  • Wow I've taken ubers more expensive than some of these, crazy prices
