More of these ridiculously cheap fares to Europe. Flight to Amsterdam departing in February & returning in March 2026 (might work for other dates, but thats what I found).
One stop in Guangzhou, and 2 x 23kg checked bags, as well as food, entertainment, etc.

Yes! I have flown long haul with them to Europe a number of times, I have no complaints.
Mad solid flight. Entertainment and food included. Staff and meals were nice and plentiful.
Maybe ive been spoiled by emirates, but the meal quantity was quite small, even compared yo what you get on Qatar and Etihad (etihad is acting like a LCC past half a decade).
The entertainment is included yes, but not many newer movies or shows to choose from. Luckily i was doing a rerun of the hobbit trilogy and the 9hr leg were occupied well for me. Ymmv.
That hasnt been my experience at all on China Southern. Huge selection of stuff to watch, and I found the meals were as good as any other carrier
Yesterday i was hunting an overseas return trip using Google flight. Then direct me to purchase from Aunt Betty, at the end, payment cannot go through and check again, airfare increased by $60. I dont know others experience with Google flight, I purchased from Trip and platforms before, so easy
common scam by those agents or they will take your money and refund you

Why? I have always had good experiences on China Southern. They get the same star rating as British Airways, Emirates, Etihad, KLM, Qantas and a bunch of others.

They are as good as any other airlines as stated BA,EK,EY,KL,QF.
For the price I don't think you can complain much at all.

@Windows7forever: You need to do your own research and decide if its going to work for you, but I have booked through Aunt Betty and not had a problem. They are owned by Flight Centre if that helps. The thing with an OTA is, if there is a problem with your flights (time change, cancellation, etc) it can be hard to get support and can take time to fix. So - I always think - if I got to my destination late, would it be a problem? If yes (maybe you have an event to go to, or you are taking a second flight or whatever) then sometimes its worth paying the extra $$ to book direct. But, keep in mind, airlines are also not amazing to deal with!
@CheapFlightHunter: Thanks. That keeps things in perspective. I'd never use these cheap carriers or OTAs for time critical travel. Provided they fix problems when they arise and inform customers, take further actions and/or provide refunds/rebookings, etc then it is not an issue. Fortunately, most of my travel is budget, solo and flexible so this works for me.

Often they don't do many of these things in a timely manner.
When your flight gets cancelled, you find their support only operates Mon-Fri 9-5 AU time, for example.
The example flights have long or overnight layovers. What does one do with those?
Burn the savings on a hotel. Deals like these are only for the most hardcore of travellers willing to sleep in the terminal (or raw dog the stopover).
You'd spend $100 on a hotel, $200 tops. This is a $700 saving.
A decent hotel I stay 5 mins from airport with pick up and drop off June 2025 was $21 AUD.

CS offer free stopover hotel including transfers & breakfast. has to be a minimum of 8 hours layover.
Might not be valid for this fare class though - sometimes it isnt for the cheapest fares. Worth checking though.
I think the fare with 1x23kg bag included is the fare that doesnt give a stopover hotel. The fares above that do.
CS Air gives you a hotel to stay at for a layover longer than 8hrs iirc.
The hotels are good and clean, the breakfast is included.
It depends on the class of ticket. The cheapeast ticket class is normally excluded from free hotels. Even hotel is offered, it is a twin shared.
Agree. It was a tiny price premium for the fare class with the hotel included. A massive ease with a small price.
I was travelling alone, but paid the ~40$ it took to get the twin room all to myself. Inplaces like sydney and Gold Coast, a twin sharing room has beds that are single mattresses. The one they gave had 2 queen sized beds in the same room (not double mattress sized).
You can go out and explore Guangzhou, or you can book a hotel room for $100 (there is a Novotel and a Pullman at the airport, in between the terminals) and have a rest, a shower, etc. I actually like to break up a long haul flight this way. You arrive in Europe so much fresher.
they used to offer free accomodation but I assume it is depends on the fare level now.
I flew with them recently for an absolute bargain (Sydney > Guangzhou > Beijing > Tokyo > Guangzhou > Sydney for $1k - stopped for a few days in GZ on the way there/back). Was apprehensive, but the flights were all solid. On time, service was acceptable, 2 hot meals on the 9 hour fights and even served a hot meal on the 3 hour flights. The website/app is a bit painful to use but for the price, acceptable. I would fly with them again.
they are a solid company, not as good as SQ or EK but definately great value for the money with checked bag and meals.
Chinese airlines have the best safety record and service.
