NFC to take over the TV's lmao

  • +10

Lowest i can get it down to for s25 Ultra and the TV is about $3500 over 3 years. Not a spectacular deal for a phone and a TV, although that does include the phone plan too.

    • Could work though if you need a plan for work in any case.

      • Can probably cancel the Sim plan too if you wanna switch. Just payout the phone cost given the min. Is only $2.2k (cost of phone rrp and 1 month Sim).

    • +2

Lets say you normaly use $30/month for a plan = $1k over 3 years

The S24Ultra might cost about 1k give or take with coupons

      Leavinf TV at 1.5K

Not horrible if you need all 3

  • +1

Damn might be worth it if you need a new tv. Phone plan pays for the tv and it definitely is gonna last longer than the phone.

Someone needs to bundle phone, wearables and console/PC next.

Don't forget you can now play Xbox cloud on some Samsung OLED 2025 - this might be one of them.

      • I think they’re throwing in a free QLED, which unfortunately in the case of Samsung AFAIK haven’t rated that highly as they’re now pushing OLED as their premium brand.

TCL is now making some of the best LCD based panels (QLED is LCD technology), as they’re focusing on that technology. A lot of other big players have pivoted to OLED.

        • Isn't Sony's Flagship Bravia 9 series Mini LED?
Also, we should see Micro RGB and RGB Mini LED TVs being released this year (albeit pricey)
Then there's QD-OLED (Samsung) vs WOLED (LG)

      • My kid is playing it at 1440k 60 right now on a S90D, latency is essentially gone, zero stutter

  • +12

Good plan if your work reimburses monthly charges.

  • +1

Optus is the only of the 3 telco network owners to do great deals. Good on them for bringing in some competition

    • +58

And the only one that leaked customer information

        • +3

          Yes I was

          • -1

@T-man: I mean fair enough as you got affected. But theres a lot of nosy people that go into every Optus deal to talk about whatever they heard on the news even though they have never been a customer

            • +6

@Fuzor: Why would you need be a customer, to criticise a company?

        • +1

My data was leaked in the Optus leak, I got the replacement ID with the extra character on it.
Then my data got leaked a second time from Latitude and I guess the government has no solution on how to protect it now.

          • @Agret: Latitude leak would've had outdated info since you replaced your ID, no?

      • They definitely won’t be the last, unfortunately

      • -1

        and the worst nbn service

      • and what a shit show that was.

      • and poor customer service

    • +8

Only one of the 3 telco networks that continuously burns their customers on large scales.

Their latest financial presentation included the words "regaining customer trust" in the 'things to look forward to' section.

  • +6

The TV real value now on samsung EPP store is $974 before vouchers and $50 trade up.

And I reckon you dont need to stay on optus plan, you can just get the TV then cancel plan and pay the min cost of phone if you don't need the plan.

  • +15

Stop trying to make Optus happen. It's not going to happen.

    • Optus has been trying for a good part of 25+ years.

      • it seems like the singaporeans love to pour money into this shit

    • +5

Yes, let's shut down all major competition so Telstra can just run everything. Then everything will be fair and well priced.

      Right…?

      • Just because I crap on Optus does not mean I want to shut down all competition against Telstra and reinstate their monopoly.

I can edit the above with full stops after each word if it will help you read it slower and understand. LMK

  • +1

Optus is yuck. Especially after the 000 call failures 🤨

  • +2

Never thought these are any bargain deals tbh.
Bought the below 2 years back
    New s23+ —- $700 gumtree insurance sale
    Simonly plan —$20

24months down the line $1180 spent.

  • +5

The free TV appears to be the QEF1, which is a budget TV. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but definitely not worth RRP of $1499. But hey, if you want a Samsung phone and you don’t mind Optus I guess it’s a free TV.

  • +36

    $800 comparable tv
    $1200 comparable phone
    $600 comparable plan

    $2600 value

    $3500 total plan cost, lmao

    • +1

But the little yellow circle says the TV has $1,499 "value"?!

      • +1

Tcl c6k 65in is better, so you figure out the value

      • Is it a U8500f? Crap screen, no optical port from what I can see.

Get a TCL c6k and go with someone other than Optus. It would be worth it overall utility wise.

    • +1

This is the comment I needed to see to know whether to waste any more time on this deal. Was a shame this comment was so far down lol.

    • How are you getting a zfold7 for $1200?

      • You're not?

        A Z fold phone + plan is $3000

        $800 comparable tv
        $600 comparable plan
        $1600 comparable phone

        About breaking even.

So i guess with a high cost phone this deal does look better.

        • I'm also confused.

total for z fold phone plan itself is 2898++ which is close to $3000.

          • @chen: Let me phrase it this way.

Can you tell me how much the following items are.

            Z Fold 7
            Boost 365 sim
            TCL C6K 65"

            • @TsunamiInTheHouse: Comparable plan and tv are probably ok.

The cheapest I could find for z fold 7 in ozb is $1800 outright, unless if you meant a different phone entirely?

            • @TsunamiInTheHouse: Done a comparison

If comparing RRP over 36 months

              Z Fold 7 (256GB) - $2899
              Boost 365 (3yrs) - $900
              TV - $1499

              Total $5298
              Over 36 months = $147 a month

Compared to Optus plan 36 months
              Fold 7 - $80.52
              Plan - $69
              = $149.52 per month.

So for the difference of a few bucks, you are able to pay this thing off in 3 years.

If comparing RRP over 24 months

              Z Fold 7 (256GB) - $2899
              Boost 365 (2yrs) - $600
              TV - $1499

              Total $4998
              Over 24 months = $208 a month.

Compared to Optus plan 24 months
              Fold 7 - $120.78
              Plan - $69
              = $189.78 per month.

Saving of almost $20 per month if doing it via 24 month payments.

Obviously the first option is outright so you pay upfront.

    • Is the plan actually comparable? I know with Telstra you get speed unlimited 5G if you're on their higher plan, vs their cheaper monthly deals. All their plans are monthly mind. Full speed 5G sure is nice, often use it on my MacBook when out and all the wifi around sucks and it's quite fast.

  • +4

    I prefer Bonus Samsung 65" QLED 4K TV with a Galaxy S25 Outright. :D

  • +1

Every telco will try to clear out stock of S25 series as S26 just 1 month away.

    • S26 a little delayed apparently

  • Yeah, ive done worse deals before

  • I remember when i used to sell Samsung J750 and a really underpowered laptop on a $79 optus plan in 2008/9

  • +1

you could also get the deal, then suspend the mobile service and pay $5 a month for suspension fee, then pay the cost of the handset each month.

    • But what do you do with the TV?

  • +6

How do you change the TV channel in WA without a remote?

  • +2

Can’t wait till all the tvs are on FB Marketplace selling as unwanted gift 🤣

  • The what

  • +1

does anyone know what is the early termination fee?

    • The fee you get charged for early termination 😂

  • +1

I was really looking forward to using that WA Remote, a shame its excluded

  • +1

Surprised no one is talking about upgrade and protect. Just choose the S25 Edge on 36 months, upgrade to a Galaxy A17 or cheaper device. End contract and pay out the phone, sell the phone on WeBuyBack for $140.
In the end you’ve paid $51.36 for 1 month of phone, $39 for plan, $99 upgrade fee, $319.2 to pay out A17 5G, received $140 from WeBuyBack. Your total out of pocket is $508.56 and a whole lot of going back to optus.

Not bad for those who want a cheap Samsung TV

    • and on march 2026, pay another $99 for new s26 ultra, with all the goodies..

      • Yeah that’s even better. Didn’t think of that tbh. Optus preorder bonuses are always amazing

        • Would any of the optus preorder bonuses even be available to someone already on a plan who then pays the upgrade fee to get it?

          • +1

@svanaut: Yep. Pre order bonuses available for both new sign ups and exisiting. Says so in T/C

            • @Arkhxm: Thanks mate, what kind of preorder bonuses are there normally? Wondering if its worth getting this deal then doing the upgrade to get them. Usually ive gone to jb hi fi and gotten a phone on a plan then cancelled paying the cancellation fee to get a new headset

              • +1

@svanaut: Usually just free buds and watch. I’ve seen free tablets in the past too. Usually Optus is the former though. They don’t have cancellation fees, just device payout for the phone only. So you could always pay off the S26 when it comes out or keep it on instalments

    • Does it actually work without any catch? Have you tried it?

      • The plan with free Upgrade & Protect is $69 pm
3–6 weeks from claim submission to TV delivery
Cost to keep the TV is more than 550 , I paid $650 for an S90C, so the Q7F is meh

      • +1

Haven’t directly tried it for this. The TV is meh and I have no need but it will easily work.

I’ve spoken with Optus employees who also plan to do this once they get green light to order. Currently Optus employees aren’t allowed to partake in the deal.

The other reason I know it’ll work is I’ve done similar method for other preorder bonuses

        • Is there a step by step i can follow? Not too familair with this.

  • -2

The ideal situation is one can expenses the plan through work. If live and work in good Optus area, can porentially save more by data pooling and cut off NBN, a save of 600 to 800 per year.

  • It's a pretty good deal but we all know they're trying to punt off old S25 Ultra / Edge stock.

This TV brand new is $1499 but I've seen it as cheap as $999 with trade in at samsung.

  • This is a clever deal. Gonna get a lot of people doing this regardless of the value of the tv.

  • +1

this deal might suitable for non Samsung owner cause S26 ultra release is coming this late February with all of the goodies , bonuses , trade ins for delivery in early March .

  • Optus! hell to the no!

  • I live in a remote location, optus says they have 5g coverage but im doubting it.

What if you got the phone on a plan, got the tv. Then a few months later cancel the plan due to poor service and send it back to them. Would you need to send the tv back too? Or not because its through samsung not optus?

    • Send what back? The phone? That’s not an option with Optus. You’d have to pay out your device, you’d keep the TV. It counts as a gift with purchase provided by Samsung directly.

      • are you sure its not an option? I've done it in the past due the terrible service that they said was good in my location.

        • Used to be there a few years ago. They removed that policy. Potentially could still occur more so out of their good graces (as much as Optus can give these days).

I’m sure they’d rather deal with returning the phone over a TIO complaint. They do make new sign ups acknowledge their coverage map now to potentially stop sign ups from places with poor reception.

  • I sent a sms from Vodafone network on Saturday 10th morning to an Optus Sim, and only just received the sms just tonight Thursday 16th.

    Yeah, not good.

  • Looks like Samsung are giving other carriers about $350 to do their own discounts, I guess that’s a good guide to how much Samsung thinks the TV is worth

  • +1

I just jumped on this deal. I had a S23 Ultra 512GB on Optus and decided to upgrade to the S25 Ultra 1TB with a $65 plan (same as before), I got the free $1500 TV delivered today (in Perth).

This is a win for me as my dad's 2018 Hisense is basically dead out back, so getting the free TV that I no longer need to buy for him. My mum needed a new Phone to replace the dead A5 that no longers rings thanks to being blocked by telstra, so I am giving her my old Ultra instead of buying a new $500 phone for her.

Putting this into account. $1500 tv for dad, $500 phone for mum, $750 S25 Ultra 1TB for me. This is the final cost ver 36 months.
