Motorola Razr 60 5G 256GB $899 (Was $1,199) (Blue and Pink Only) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

310

Been eyeing this phone and the 60 Ultra (not available in region?). This is a price-drop. You can find a global/international version cheaper on certain marketplaces - (~$820-$850 depending on colours/delivery).

If you want a flip phone you're probably not too concerned about specs and the like and more about aesthetics; imo the Razr 60 is sexy as hell.

Why is the ultra not in Australia?

    • Still selling Razr 50 ultra. I think it's just slow moving stock here in Aus and jbhifi is the only brick and mortar retailer to even stock the Razr 60

    These are $450 in china.

    • Do they work here?

      • +9

        They charge here.

Based on the isthisphoneblocked checking, all these moto razr models work including Grey imported ones

        • Android auto is most likely blocked, this is the case for most Chinese phones.

          • @SarcasticEmu: just check the website for specific models. its surprisingly random.

      • Yes. Honestly, for this price a better choice is the Oneplus 15 (16GB + 512GB) for $950 or the OPPO x9 pro for $1,133. Both, blow this thing out of the water.

        • +1

Where are you getting the Oneplus 15 for $950?

          • +1

            @nzcoops: Pinduoduo.

@nzcoops: I bought mine off Kogan for about $950, CN converted to global. I recommend OP15 over CN version X9 Pro (which can't be converted to global) unless camera is more important than fully functioning Android environment, as CN roms have some limitations with Google services.

              @aveeno bb: Fair enough. Thanks!

I've never brought the CN version as I been worried about potential he was headaches, or losing really important google services at any stage (like android auto), perhaps that's irrational?

    • Yeah I see the 2nd hand listings on AliExpress. Wasn't sure if these were scam. If you bought em let me know if they're legit and I'll take the punt.

Note Motorola warranty can be a pain for international buys

      • most likely refurb. warranty is certainly a pain.

        • If you pay to have it fixed, you'll still won't have spent as much. Else buy two for ~$899.

Use Pinduoduo, owned by Temu. If you buy a phone that's fake on Pinduoduo phone they'll pay you 10x the purchase price. The official Motorola company is on Pinduoduo and it's unlikely they'll sell you a fake phone.

But, you'll need to find a reshipper for around $8 per kg delivered within a week, or $4 per kg delivered within a month. I've also bought from Pinduoduo before and I haven't been scammed, granted I was buying shoes.

        Otherwise there's always tmall.

    • I don't think Chinese version supports esim right? That's why it's cheaper

      • esims can be installed onto another sim card.

Note: $899 phone with only 3.5 years of security updates remaining

Disappointing when $299 phones like the Samsung A36 have 6 years of updates

Though not sure modern day phones can survive well beyond 3-4 years. They way technology changes, people usually upgrade their phones every 2-3 years

      • I dunno about that, i was still rocking my Z Fold 3 from 2021 until the end of last year when I got a Z Fold 7…

      • That's changing, iv noticed people holding on their phones longer now. LTT also spoke about it on a WAN show it 2

Phones have changed the least the in the last decade. Most major innovators are out of the market. The only thing that will matter is that the new bands required for 5g, but that's a concern for far down the line.

I still have 3 phones in my family from 2018. They don't want to replace it.

Lol my missus still has her battered Samsung Galaxy S21+ and I'm still rocking my Pixel 7 Pro which I might upgrade later this year. My wife is getting her first iPhone in the coming months. So about 5 years for both of us with our current phones.

        • +2

I'm still happy with my Pixel 7. Can't see me changing it for at least a year or two. Maybe get the battery replaced. As others hav stated, the changes with phones these days have been incremental, maybe slightly better batteries and cameras, but nothing warranting a $1 500+ purchase.

I think the screen will die way before 3.5 years anyway

      • Battery as well. Even iPhones battery struggle to last a day after 2 years.

        • -2

Only Australian phones. The new frontier is 8k to 10kmah dual Battery set up.

    Got last years model
    Camera was dog 💩
Screen started to delaminate in 3 months

    Beautiful but no bueno

Thanks OP..I get the bits that are wrong with this phone but I have been using a Vivo x100 Ultra bought off Ali and still barring the Xiaomi 17 Ultra the only phone that sports a 1 inch sensor. Photographs are fantastic, the optical zoom is insanely good both for macro and as a zoom lense, battery lasts forever in balanced mode being a 5500mah silcone-carbon battery, came with a cover and a 50W fast charger in the box. I do not game but I suspect it would do well. The hardware is faultless , their Origin OS seems to be geared for tinkerers and has it's positives and negatives but as a package it beats pretty much any of the major manufacturers.

But the one thing that has me annoyed is the weight and size of the phone. It is a hefty beast of a thing between the camera module and the battery. I have realised that my mirrorless micro four thirds still takes better pics and I am better off with a light simple phone that can take ok pics, has an ok camera but weighs less and does not suck when it comes to memory and processing. My wife has a Razr 50 for 2 years now with zero issues and I have always loved the form factor and ease of use. I do not like the crease but happy to live with it. Updates or lack of it does not really bother me. So horses for courses but an 8 month old Vivo x100 Ultra will be on Ebay soon if anyone is interested thanks to this post.

    • Oh and the lack of android auto and Gemini in Chinese ROMs is another annoyance..not a deal breaker like the weight but still is annoying.

      • Yes, CN roms have some limitations that are annoying enough to make it not worth it.
