There has been a price war since the original deal posted at $87 between both listings from sold by KS Computer and Amazon AU

I have been monitoring the price, and only few days ago, it has dropped to $84 / $84.40, and now to this price in title

This is not a dupe and please stop changing my title

Should be a big enough drop for a new post, since it was originally $87. Thanks

Enjoy!

Seems kind of silly to get these over the proper Android find my device tags.

    • Do you have a link? I want to start having trackers and want to learn about all possible options.. thank you..

      • -3

There are dozens available on AliExpress for about $7 a piece or less.

        • that work better than these? or equvalant?

          • +1

@Brendon84: Works worst than these. I have moto tag with uwb and devices are not detectable when it's not with me.

    • Doesn't Samsung operate on "proper Android" ?

      • -6

Their tags user their own Samsung only network limited to just Samsung devices. Doing it that way was always going to be DOA with Google/Android having a generic Android network.

The generic Android one took ages to get released and had plenty of problems on initial release, allowing the Samsung one to have some relevance for 12 months or so. But at this point it should be considered dead

        • It is one of the few that have UWB support, unfortunately by default it only works on Samsung devices. You can make it work on any Android via uTag but it is clunky, I do not recommend look for something else if you don't have a Samsung phone.

Android ones are equally as bad.

    • Those cheap ones use Bluetooth Low Energy which is not very useful in terms of range.
Ultra Wide Band support trackers are expensive and have upto 100 metres range

      • They all use ble.
Uwb is only useful if you have a "pro" phone and are happy to switch the batteries in your tags every few months to be able to get more accurate location when you're within 5 metres or so. For some items once you're that close it's irrelevant.

Android find my device tags are crap compared to these. I have 8 of these and 5 Android find my device tags. If the tags are not with me, Android find my devices will never detect the device. With Samsung smarttag, not only can I find my devices when the are not with me, but you also get location history which Android find my devices tags lacks.

      • I guess you are surrounded by a lot of people with Samsung phones. Personally I don't know anyone with one so am unlikely to get location data when my items are near them, which is most likely to be the case.

        • +1

Main issue with Android Find Hub is by default its set to only send location data in busy places only. Most normal users will not change this default setting. So unless you loose your device in a busy area, you won't be able to find your lost tags/devices.
You might not know many people with Samsung phones, but Samsung sells way more phone than any other Android manufacturers that there is a high chance that someone would have a Samsung device nearby and its turn on to detect devices always by default.

I wanted to like Android find tags and started purchasing them, but am so disappointed by them as they are utterly useless!

          • @aarick: I believe they've improved that issue recently. For example when adding a tag you get prompted to enable it.

Also I and people around me have adjusted/fixed that setting, and I'm more likely to "lose" something where I or my family visit. Have also had no issue tracking stuff pretty accurately even without my phone being present. Some tags are better than others.

Samsung selling more Android phones than other manufacturers is pretty irrelevant. I'm not interested in a walled garden, per brand solution.

            • @xmail: Totally agree with you regarding per brand solution isn't great. Let's hope they eventually merge, but not to the current Android find hub way of doing things. They really should enable tracking in all location by default. And add location history.

Absolutely useless tracker. Just buy the Apple ones if you actually need updates on where your tags are.

    • +2

And buy iphone to make it work?

      • I guess it depends on why you want the trackers. Do you want constant updates because the object is passing iPhones or are you hoping somebody has a Samsung phone and the tag rarely passes by one?

    • +2

Works great for me and I don't need to go buy an iPhone which is another positive

      • I never had that situation. I tried both Apple and Samsung. Samsung rarely updated whereas Airtag is constantly updated. In Australia there are more iPhones than Samsung Phones. That is just a fact. I am surprised why Samsung charge so much for these tags.

        • Interesting. Never had an issue with mine.

Likewise, have used these in my suitcases oversaes and locally with no issues and on one of the flights suitcases were stuck at the departure terminal. Alerted the airline and they sent them on the next flight.

I bought some Airtags recently but found CarExpert did a video comparing these Samsung ones to Apple Airtags and found Samsung tags are better at tracking your car.

It's really surprising. Wonder if it's the hardware implementation
