Service Description

Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

Once you set your cancellation date, any Warp Speed fees or Hibernate credits from that cycle will be added to your final bill which can be paid via the app. After everything is processed, we’ll send you a receipt.

There is no option to opt out of CGNAT.

Exetel now allows you to turn off CG-NAT by asking their chat bot.

    • +2

      Wow, that's a nice change. Thanks :)

      Updated post.

    • At cost?

      • +6

        No additional cost

    • +3

yep just used prompt "Opt out of cgnat" to the live chat bot
      easy as that. $0

    • +1

      This worked. 👍

  • +2

I don't know much about CG-NAT and all the implications, I did ask the chat bot just now, which said this…

"Unfortunately, you cannot opt out of CG-NAT with Exetel's plans. All Exetel services are provisioned with dual-stack support, which includes both IPv6 and IPv4 (via CG-NAT). This applies to all connection types, including HFC.

However, Exetel does provide dynamic IPv6 /56, which is suitable for home networking and remote access. If you need remote access to your network, you can use solutions like Tailscale or IPv6 as alternatives.

If having a static or dynamic IPv4 address without CG-NAT is essential for your needs, you might want to explore other providers that offer this option."

So, would I be able to easily access CCTV cameras and Hue lighting system over this NBN connection? Appreciate any knowledgeable responses :-)

    • +1

The whole pathway would need to support IPv6. So your router and camers, lighting system

      • Cheers for the response.

    • The chat bot response needs updating.

Do your security cameras use a local NVR or cloud server?

      • +1

Local NVR only, I don't pay for cloud service (so I can keep my OzB badge ;-) ).

        • +1

Turn off CG-NAT or use IPv6.

      • Of course he has a local NVR, you gen1 Ai

    • +2

I just opted out of CG-NAT earlier by messaging the chat bot the following in the Exetel app

“Opt out of cgnat” and followed the prompts from there and now I’m on a dynamic IP

      • +3

yep the prompt "Opt out of cgnat" with live chat worked for me tonight, cheers.

  • +2

    I am with these guys.

I was on some previous plan, and switched to the One plan because it was slightly cheaper ($80 for 500/50).

Since then, it has been much less reliable. Still pretty good, but it feels like I get constant drops in speed and I don't recall any before switching plans.

    • Same here. I'm with them now and will switch soon. Not reliable and speed is erratic

  • +1

Do not recommend going with Exetel, have had random dropouts without any prior notice and speed isnt that great during peak hours

    • +1

noticed 0 issues with exetel, as rock solid as aussie and leaptel. in a housold of 5 people mostly gamers. based in perth with FTTP

  • Almost pulled the trigger on this deal.. Thanks for the honest info about the Exetel service and what you guys are experiencing, I'll stay with Superloop for now.

    • @Wolfenstein98k @dji1111111 @mike-vroom

Sorry to hear. I've a positive experience churning from Origin 500/50 to Exetel using the same ZTE modem.

Was with Exetel on the old NBN plan. Then I switched to Origin 500/50 when they had a promo. Unfortunately the speed with Origin was often unreliable.

A few months ago, I switched to this new Exetel plan. Churning was quick and I haven't had to contact Exetel. Speed is more consistent around 500/50.

@GeNTeCH Not sure if there would be much of a difference as Exetel uses Superloop. I don't know why there is a difference between Origin and Exetel as Origin also uses Superloop. I used the same ZTE modem purchased from Exetel.

For your next churn, I can't recommend Origin as it was worse than Exetel. Origin also forgot to process the pro rata refund although they sent the refund email. I had to contact Origin about 1.5 months later for the refund.

I wonder if there would be an improvement if you churn to Superloop although Exetel uses Superloop.

  • +1

    thanks for posting.
From 23/01/2026, nbn only plans will no longer be eligible for cashback. They will be bundled with mobile plans for cashback
    is this for Exetel only?

    • +1

Yes the term is specific to Exetel from 23rd Jan.

  • Was with Exetel had no dropouts and as advertised speeds, but my legacy plan needed 30 days cancellation notice (had to pay entire months worth) which I think removed the one plan.

    • There is no need to give 30 days’ notice but there is no pro rata refund.

      • Yes not any more but legacy customers need/needed to.

        • Yes I gave notice when I churned from the old plan.

  • +3

I just opted out of CG-NAT earlier by messaging the chat bot the following in the Exetel app

  • It seems like superloop and exetel are under the same boss. How about Aussie boardvand as NAB doing a nice deal to their customers.

    • TopCashback has up to $60 cashback offer for Aussie Broadband here that stacks with their sale.

    • What is the NAB customer deal with Aussie Broadband? I can't find any offer but am interested to learn more!

      • +1

NAB has an nbn deal with Mate (not recommended).

Aussie BB nbn is $10/m, $15/m or $20/m off for 6 months for new customers.

    • -1

      Strongly recommend against Aussie Broadband
Don't let the Australian accents fool you into thinking they are a good ISP. I have a few clients who have been with Aussie BB since their early days.

Never seen an ISP have so many service disruptions caused by needless misconfiguration on the ISPs end.

About every 3-6 months or so I would have to spend a few hours on Sundays at clients house on the phone to AussieBB. Wasting hours going through all the usual troubleshooting steps before they would finally admit they had changed configurations/settings once again. Incredibly annoying.

The only reason they are so highly rated is clueless boomer full time casual racist customers

  • I have heard that Exetel is the same company as Superloop? True?
I'm with Superloop and it is great. Hopefully Exetel is similarly good, as I intend to go with them in the following months.

  • never got the cashback from mine.

    • Do you mean your transaction is still pending? If you haven't yet, you can contact TCB support here.

Unfortunately estimated payable for Exetel is longer than other retailers i.e. up to 25 weeks. Cashback is usually paid in about 4-5 months. My Exetel cashback from the old plan was paid in about 4 months last year.

  • +1

I connected with Exetel earlier this week. I just tried asking the chatbox to opt out of cgnat and it told me there's a one off fee of $10.

    • +1

That's odd. 2 persons opted out a few hours ago mentioned here and here. There was no additional cost as stated here and here. Perhaps request again.

    • I switched to Exetel because Tangerine is using CGNAT, which is not compatible with my workplace FortiGate VPN now. I asked the chatbox, and it asked $10 for disabling CGNAT too. May it be based on the location or current connection? I don't know.

  • I signed up a few days ago, is there a way to still get teh $100 cash back ?

    • Unfortunately not as Exetel would only pay TopCashback if you had clicked through TopCashback. $100 cashback has been offered for a while. Sorry about that.

  • Cashback eligible if I sign up now and schedule the connection to start early next month?

    • +2

Unfortunately there is no option for a future connection date with the new Exetel plan. It's mentioned in the post.

You would either join on the last day of the nbn only plan offer (22nd Jan) or buy the bundle plan (nbn + mobile) offer next month. Cashback for the bundle offer isn't listed yet.

      • +1

        Thanks for the response.

  • bugger, only just switched from Exetel to Carbon Comms yesterday because of the CG-NAT policy. Anyway I'll see how this new provider is.

    • Carbon Comms is the better deal. I switched to them from Exetel.

  • FYI re: Exetel’s recent billing “innovations.” They are using some very thinly-veiled marketing sleight-of-hand that mirrors the exact policy that caused the massive Superloop debacle recently.

Exetel claims: "There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice."

It’s the same 30-day penalty, just rebranded. They have moved to a no pro-rata refund model. If you cancel on the 2nd day of your billing cycle, they keep your money for the entire month. You are paying for a service you aren't using and they aren't providing.

I’ve successfully cited Australian Consumer Law (specifically regarding misleading/deceptive conduct and charging for services not rendered) to force a refund from Superloop for this exact thing.

If you're leaving, time your exit to the minute, or be prepared to tell Exetel that they aren't entitled to your money just because they’ve found a way to keep it.

    • Other ISP's require 30 days notice regardless of where you are on your billing cycle. That is what I would call a 30 day penalty.

Sure pro rata is better, but this is at least workable and you can plan a move. I wouldnt wait until the last minute - im not salty about wasting a couple of days

  • Will i be eligible for thie if moving from Superloop to Exetel?

    • Cashback is eligible from Superloop to Exetel or vice versa.

Regarding the 30-day notice to terminate your service with Superloop, you could get it waived according to this comment.

There is no option for a future connection date with this Exetel One plan. Offer ends on 22nd Jan. The new offer from 23rd Jan will be nbn + mobile bundle. The cashback rate isn't listed yet.

  • +2

Can confirm takes 4-5 months for cashback to arrive. I received mine last week from one done in september

  • Cashback is for nbn FTTP or HFC.

Im still on FTTC. My house is now eligible for FTTP, but I haven't taken it yet with my current provider.

Would I still be eligible for this deal? or only for people currently on FTTP

  • Still missing the tracking from the Superloop blackfriday offer… submitted a claim and nothing…

    • @GachiFish Sorry to hear. TopCashback does not add the tracking manually. You won't see it in the "Earnings" page initially. After the claim is paid, then you will see the transaction in your account.

You would have received an automated email when you lodged the claim that states to wait several months. There is usually no response or communication while waiting for the claim to be approved. TopCashback will contact you if they need more info.

Cashback for tracked orders for Superloop (or Exetel) is paid in about 4-5 months. Estimated payable is up to 25 weeks. It would be a similar time frame for a claim or a bit longer.

Unfortunately cashback payment from Superloop/Exetel is a longer wait than other retailers probably due to the "90-day minimum stay" term.

      • You can check on the progress of your claim or add further info here.

      • If you have any enquiries, please contact TopCashback support in this link.

      All the best.

  • Anyone know if using an Exetel referral code will invalidate the cashback?

    • I've joined Exetel's new One plan (and also previous plan) but didn't use the referral code. I had asked and was advised not to use.

The discount seems to be $1 per month and it's not worth risking the cashback rejection. I don't know if Exetel has paid or rejected cashback for this plan but wouldn't want to risk it for such a small discount. As it's not an approved code listed, past payment of referral code with cashback is not a guarantee of future payments.

  • Just churned to Exetel. Asked the bot to opt out of cgnat. It said it can do that, but for a once of fee of $10 as well. I guess they temporarily allowed it for free.

    • I'm with Exetel but haven't opted out. Will check with @Twix if the free offer was for a limited time or depends on location.

      • It should be $0. The chat bot response needs updating.

    • +1

@flagger Please try again as someone confirmed it's $0.

      • Tried again, can do it for free now. AI hallucinating earlier?

        Cheers.

  • Was between these guys and Tangerine and went with Tangerine due to the deal with Bupa, so $45 month for 6 months then 65 ongoing with Bupa deal. They also allow CGnat opt out no problem. No connection issues either.

  • +1

I like this. None of the irritating 6 months stuff.

    Set and forget, fair price.

  • Carbon Comms is a better deal - cheaper, no CGNAT, static IP and better uptime.

    • It probably depends on your location as there are a few unhappy customers of Carbon Comms here.

Exetel works well for me in Perth. Origin didn't for the same 500/50 plan. Haven't tried Carbon Comms.

      • All the bad reviews seem to be people that can't do simple billing maths.

        • They left Carbon Comms because of the poor speeds and multiple drop outs that were stated. The billing was a separate issue.

Hence I mentioned it probably depends on your location. For example Southern Phone is not good for Perth.

          • @trixieb: I can't say I've ever looked at productreview and its quite a small sample. I checked whirlpool before joining and experiences were positive there.

Neptune is another similar ISP that does have a POP in Perth.

            • @jaimex2: Carbon Comms may not be the best option for Perth. As you mentioned, Neptune is recommended for Perth in the Carbon Comms post.

I had checked Carbon Comms before joining Exetel 500/50. I asked a few people in my area who they used and was told Exetel and happy with it.

    • Not really. Carbon Comms is the same price at $80/m ongoing, NSW only PoP and doesn't have IPv6. A bonus Static IP is nice however most don't need one.

Exetel can turn off CG-NAT, lower latency and has IPv6.

      • Im in SE Queensland and get better speeds on CC than I ever did on Exetel / Superloop. I have yet to have an outage or routing mess up.

I was unable to get a static IP from Exetel, they dont do it anymore.

        • I get the excepted speeds on Superloop nbn FTTP. Routing changes all the time regardless of ISP.

Carbon Comms network will improve when they add more PoPs and IPv6 later this year. Hopefully they keep the $80/m ongoing price.

  • I’m with these guys since the Black Friday deal, still haven’t gotten my cashback and constant drop outs. I can’t wait to get thr cashback and leave.

    • Sorry to hear. I haven't had issues with Exetel.

You need to stay 90 days for cashback as per T&Cs. Cashback from Nov purchase isn't due yet. I'm also waiting from Nov. Estimated payable is up to 25 weeks. Cashback is usually paid in about 4-5 months (March or April).

I was also with Exetel previously and cashback was paid in 4 months last year. Someone mentioned their Sep purchase was paid last week so it also took 4 months.

Hopefully it would be paid in March.
