Hope she finally gets satisfied with size

  • +1

Daym so this is basically 4K ultrawide

    • +2

6K 120Hz, according to the specs

      • +3

You've been downvoted but neither you nor Dell are really "wrong" per se, it does indeed have a horizontal resolution of ~6,000 vertical lines (6,144 in this case) which makes it a "6K" display by definition. It's just that "4K" is the terminology that stuck for referring to UHD displays in general, but it's a terrible way of comparing across aspect ratios like this.

Don't even get me started on "2K" being used to refer to a monitor with 2,560 vertical lines (28% difference) and not one with 1,920 vertical lines (4% difference). Anyway.

    • +3

4K refers to the horizontal resolution of a display, so by definition - no, it's not, it's a 6K ultrawide.

If "4K ultrawide" is meant to refer to an ultrawide monitor with the same vertical resolution as a typical 16:9 UHD monitor (somewhere around ~5120 x 2160, or ~"5K"), 6144 x 2560 is about a 42% increase in pixel count (~15.73 megapixels vs ~11.06 megapixels).

As far as perceived resolution goes, 6144 x 2560 across 52in is 128.0 PPI, which is like 3840 x 2160 UHD stretched across a ~34in display; a 32in "4K" monitor would be somewhat sharper than this 52in 6K ultrawide at ~137.7 PPI. It's still sharper than 2560 x 1440 across a 27" display, however which is ~108.8 PPI.

looking to get one, but where is the deal?

    • +6

I read the price as $392.80 and could not believe your comment LOL.

      • +3

Surely Muzeeb would be able to hook us up

    • Same/similar price as 10 days ago because I looked it up after it featured on LTT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmiB2NnXgPU

      • +11

Linus looks like a meth-head these days

      • I looked it up around Monday after I saw an article about it and it was near $4300 on the dell website.

    • +2

you might be able to use the amex offer Spend $800 or more, get $200 back.

  • Wow that price actually makes sense after looking at 6k 52" 120hz
    It's gaming monster

  • +2

Dayummmm. This is going to need DLSS 6.0 to get the most of it

  • +8

Does the model number include "5226KW" to represent power consumption?

    • +1

      52 inch
      year 26
      K for ugh something
W for wide. or wow. or wicked

      • 52"
        2x6k
        Wide?

        • +1

3rd and 4th digit are always the model year with Dell

          G3223Q: 32 inch, year 23

          • @shabaka: Dell s2721dgf

            huh i guess you right

            edit: or are you 🤔 i think that's a 2020 model actually

            • @SkyeMG: that's Dell internal "year" of the model, it may be different from the calendar year it was released, but usually close enough

depends on market demand, panel availability, firmware testing etc.

      • +1

K is for higher than 4k res

    • +1

Feel free to google the naming conventions yourselves, haha

Ps. Great monitor but also don't see what the deal is.
Normal price on the Dell site.

  • +6

this is 100" inch MINI LED 144hz pricing with 5000 nit peak brightness LOL

  • This one or the Samsung G9 Neo 57 for gaming and productivity?

    • 57" if it fits

Had a 49" 32:9 for productivity but wish it had a few vertical pixels

I'm on 45" 5k2k now and it's borderline too big but gotten used to it, and it's got a decent curve. I think it'd look crap if it was flat at ~80-100cm away
I like it because at least can fit my speakers on each side of it

This Dell would be better treated like you're mounting a TV with it's size + lack of curve

  • +1

Wow, I have an 8K TV for like 4 years now with 7680x4320 resolution. Why are these lower resolution monitors so expensive in 2026, it's not like it's new tech with 8K TV's being mainstream for over 5 years.

    • +4

      Mainstream? Available sure, mainstream hardly.

      • An 8K TV is like sub $3000.

        • Which TV do you have? I think they were more widely available back then they are now for some reason. I'd love a 55" 8k.

    • +4

The UltraSharp range is also geared towards professional colour-accurate industries like prepress/graphic design, video and the like.

There's probably cheaper consumer-grade stuff out there.

    • +1

It's fairly likely Dell is using a custom order panel here, as I'm not aware of an off the shelf one with these specs. If so, that would drive up cost significantly.

    • +2

Your 8K TV is not IPS though, is it.

  • +8

    Thanks OP bought none

  • +1

    That's bigger than my TV.

  • +3

    Two of these is great

  • +7

    Is muzeeb still around

    • I'm out of loop, what are they famous for?

    • I think he passed away ☹️

      • Oh really?? How did you know?

        • Was in the forums and previous posts when people were asking for him to get big deals

  • +6

waiting for a Blaupunkt version for $399 @ jbhifi in 2036

    • +3

World health data shows that 1 in 3 people are now getting Cancer. If you were born after 1980, when making future plans like 10 - 20 years ahead, it's better to assume you will be dead then not and design your TV buying strategy accordingly.

      • +3

ahh shiet ok i just bought this one then. thanks for the headsup

      • +4

The good news we all need today

    • Or a kogan version for $500.

  • +1

Can I mount this in portrait? Never miss a bargain again with Ozbargain off to the side while watching TV.

  • -1

Imagine driving a dual screen setting with this…..

  • -2

Thanks Op, where is this made? Who owns Dell?

    • +2

      Google.com

  • +4

Help me, MuziB . You're my only hope.

  • suitable for my retro c64 games?

  • Serious question, How is this more than the g95nc from Samsung?

    It's like 57 inch, 240hz, 7680*2160 (dual 4k)

I guess ips > mini led?

I mean, Is it 1300 better?

    • -1

One difference is that the Dell is IPS and the Samsung VA. Saying that there is no way id ever spend that much money on a dell monitor (or any other product). Dell products in my house have a 100% failure rate across 3 monitors and 3 laptops. Absolute dog shit level quality control

      • Depends what stream you buy. I'm writing this on a U3011. So that's a 15y old 2k monitor that can still hold its own. But it's pro enterprise grade.

    • +2

Mini LED is the backlight tech. It still uses a VA panel. IPS is far superior, especially for desktop-monitor application. Viewing angles are far superior, and you don't get ghosting with fast-IPS panels.

Viewing angles isn't such an issue for a big TV, that sits several metres away from the viewer, but it does matter for a monitor that's intended to be within 1-1.5m of the user.

      • Id love to see them side by side, maybe it's like digital tv where you don't really notice the difference until you go back to analogue…

        • +3

I have 3x32" IPS (for the sim racing rig)
Also a 34" OLED next to a 34" VA panel.

I used to have a 38" IPS next to the VA panel. The VA panel has a 1000r curve, but the viewing angles are crap. It has to be perfectly centred to my viewpoint, or I can see the colours aren't uniform.

No such issues with any IPS screen I've had, or the OLED.

          • @CrushJelly: Awesome thanks for the feedback… I have noticed weird bleeding etc with my panel so suspect OLED could help here after reading that.

      • Honest question who sits 1-1.5m away from a 52" monitor ?

        • +1

Me? With my Samsung.. would be about a metre I guess… Could be closer… Are you saying it's to close or to far?

        • +1

It's recommended to sit 50-100cm (or an arms length) from your monitor.

I got 2x 32" 2k curved screens on mounts, I probably sit 800mm or so away. I think people with tiny 4k text display wouldn't need to sit too far away. The wider and bigger the display you can't sit too close anyway.

You'll find out pretty quickly what is comfortable and can always adjust text scaling.

Would love the equivalent of what I've got in a single monitor.

        • I sit 70cm away from 3 x 32" monitors, which would be wider than a 52" ultrawide.

  • +1

Wow… That's awesome…. Hopefully one day can sell my left kidney to buy one

    • +1

Oh what a shame, I am looking for a right kidney.

      • Damm, always unlucky , what about my right eye?

  • pretty incredible piece of tech too bad id have to sell an organ to afford it haha

  • -2

I’m probably one of the only guys that was close to buying this. I work with Ai quite a bit as a software developer and need many windows open now. My Philips 43” plus 27” verticals isn’t cutting it. But I’ve decided against it. I needed more realestate so decided on 8k 65” now.
Enables 3x3 @ 2560x1440p res windows Should do nicely as u can get lost a bit.

    • +3

      As a software dev myself….

      Huh?

    • Neg for AI

  • +3

Wtf - people use 50"+ screens for productivity? How far back are you supposed to sit back from this thing? Both MacOS and WIN have important things in the corners of the screen - so you are constantly doing big head movements? Wouldn't that get straining - as opposed to easily scanning the screen with just eye movements?

    • As someone who works in video, ultrawides are great for being able to view larger timelines. Ultrawides with good vertical pixel density are even better for apps like After Effects where timelines can get stacked with a lot of layers.

    • video, finance, medical.

  • Thanks.
    Grabbed 360

  • +1

Could get a 48" oled TV for $950 but of course you're trading in ips text crispness for $3k and burn in risk etc.

    • Telly doesn't even compare to PC (for office use).

      • Agree, I went with oled thinking it would be ok because I'm not picky and wanted to replace 32" with vertical 27" ears.

Great for gaming but it's not so cool for productivity.

        • Yes, I imagine you'd have to sit further way, fine for games and movies (those LG OLED C models came to mind).

  • I want to see this thing in action. If anyone buys one please post a pic!

  • +1

A lot of comments are missing the point of this monitor. It not intended to be used as an one big ass mega screen (even tho you still can). The idea behind it to replace multi-monitor setups. Many devs are using horizontal centre screen with two auxiliaries in portrait mode. Here it can create PBP zones that can be fed from different inputs. It also has a full docking station built-in plus KVM switch. It's a professional tool, in the same niche as Apple displays or Dell's own 6K 32 inch monitor.

    • Yes some fancy features for sure.

These days it's easy with windows 11 to drag windows to different zones. Dual monitors are traditionally preferred for productively and relatively cheap.

Although now I think I'd prefer one ultrawide screen (as long as it's got more height than the 34") so no bezel in the middle for games etc.

  • +1

I'll wait for dell Clearance at $1500

  • Is this just an Ad for Dell, cos this was the price when it launched so whats the deal?

    • Give it a neg son..

Agree, is just the normal price on the website.

  • Cool I guess. PPI is very low though.

  • +1

I did get one of this (used the Amex Cashbash) so if anyone has any questions specifically about them, I'm happy to answer. It's a big monitor, works well. The PiP/PbP mode works really well. Great as an inbuilt KVM. I use it for work, and I don't play many games, so can't comment on it for that, but as a display for development, and general usage — it seems pretty good.

    • Would be awesome and better than your short review I'm sure!

Good if you are after a tax write-off :P

    • Is it possible to use 2 systems (desktop and laptop) side by side and jus tmove the mouse between? or do you have to interact with a monitor button to switch the KB M over?
