  • Is this an alright time of year to go?

    • If you love daily 34° and 85% humidity sure. I went in Sept last year and it was still gross. Only plus is much less tourists.

      • sounds lovely…. 🫠

    • Yeah.. Nah.. These months you'll be drowning in your own sweat and it's like a sauna so swimming in humidity. Best times to go is October-March.

      • We were there in November last year, and there was a couple of days where it was high 20’s, but felt like high 30’s. We were drenched in sweat

        • oh trust me.. if you go during April-September, it would be 10x worse.. November isn't "cold" by any standards, but is tolerable compared to those other months..

      • You're not gonna believe this: people live there

    • It's pretty disappointing year-round to be honest. HK has fallen off big time since the end of last decade.

But great price if you have friends and relatives to visit, or as a gateway to the mainland.

      • Agreed, I was there in November last year and it’s lots it’s charm.

Food quality has gone downhill and it’s ao overpriced there.

        Better off visiting mainland cities.

  • Appears to be class O. 15 Qantas SC per leg.

    • Cheap tickets on cathay do not earn SC/points on QFF.
      https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earn-points/airl…

Nevertheless, great prices - pity most of their ex-SYD flights are now 777s now rather than A350s.

      • Always good to check. If you don't have status, probably works out better to credit to Cathay.

      • Melbourne still has the A350 on the morning flight (134) I believe.

      • Cheap tickets on cathay do not earn SC/points on QFF

I do not understand the value proposition of FF points as it usually costs you more to earn them they are worth.
eg a flight like this you can get for $690 and no points. Or you might pay over $1000 for the exact same fare and earn maybe $100 in points (if you are lucky).

    • Incorrect - cx class O earns NO POINTS OR STATUS CREDITS on Qantas. Do NOT book expecting to receive SC on qantas.

You can check other fares at qantas - if the fare class is not listed here then it will earn nothing: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earn-points/airl…

Alternatively you can chuck it into https://statusmapper.app to skip the whole reading a table part.

    • As everyone else has said, O class does not earn QF credits. I recommend crediting to a different program and if QF Gold/Platinum just showing that card at the lounges to get in.

      • Appreciate the correction(s). Good tip on lounge entry.

  • Isn't this during the monsoon season? HK gets very humid in summer.

  • Mar and Apr are ok, from May onwards it’s too hot

  • no love for Adelaide, hope they extend the direct flight route until further

  • If you book from Cathay site directly you can select additional route like Japan, sometime maybe cheaper just to HK.

  • Good opportunity to visit Disneyland

  • Wow. cheapest direct have seen for quite some time. very tempting

  • Thanks, booked Mar departure and returning in Jun. $750 on CX, not bad.

  • Your site still has the old Phnom Penh airport code (PNH). I am not able to search for the new airport which was opened in September (KTI). Please fix this.

Using the old code results in no flights.

  • seems like sold out?
