Have been wanting to try sous vide for a while. Back to the usual $69 lowest discounted price.

Personally I picked up the ISW-500W (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C3QC9GVZ) for $180.95. It's been hovering around the $240 mark from an RRP of $329.

There's also the newer 1000W model for $95 (https://www.amazon.com.au/ISV-101W-Circulation-Function-Comp…)

Can't go wrong with this. Just grab any sort of tub or little esky and enjoy perfect temp cooks. We use it regularly for beef but works great for so many things.

  • no need, with Melbourne heat all we needed to do is put the meat outside

Even better in Central Queensland at the moment, nature provides the heat and the water. Probably enough plastic in the water to provide the vacuum bag as well!

  • Can recommend - I used mine just now to re-heat steak that was cooked on BBQ yesterday. Was as good as when I cooked it the first time

    • Isn't it too wet doing this?

Also unless you were ruthless with getting it into the fridge after cooking, that's probably pretty low on the food safety meter

      • Yeah, sealed and in to the fridge when i realised i had too much. Its not wet - its in a vac sealed bag

  • i'd love to sous vide but i don't want microplastics.

    • I was worried about that too, but I found these: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07GCV788C/ref=ewc_pr_i…
You can then either use the "water displacement method" or put that inside a vacuum sealed bag (so the plastic isn't touching the food)

      • i feel like you would taste the silicone no? my kids use silicone bowls and plates and when i eat their leftovers i can taste it…

        • Probably cheap nasty stuff then. Food grade silicone doesn't leave any taste

  • Get the 300W, it is IP rated.

These are fine for meat, but if you're making dulche leche it generates an amount of steam that the electronics do not enjoy.
