      You will always hear more negative experiences than positive. I have flown VietJet internationally and domestically in Vietnam and never had any particular problems.

        I travelled with them once, believing this would be the case. It turned out to be the worst travel experience of my life. Our first flight was delayed, causing us to miss our connecting flight. The only options offered were to wait at the airport for 48 hours or fly to a completely different destination - and when we asked how we were supposed to get to our original destination, the response was essentially, “figure it out yourself.” I vowed never to fly with them again.

        It might work if you don’t need a connecting flight and everything goes perfectly. But the moment anything goes off plan, you’re completely on your own.

      VietJet international is okay, couldn't fault their economy class for a ULCC. Can't say the same about domestic, as when I flew in about April last year, it was constant delays (sometimes 3-4 hours, sometimes up to 6 hours from original flight time!) with no real communication unless they knew the plane was delayed beforehand (very common occurrence). Almost missed a connecting flight back home on a different airline due to this btw…

      But for intl its probably fine

        That's the most important thing, worst case is you lose 1 night of accommodation going there or sleep at the airport when coming back

        Make sure you have visa further days than your intended return leg. I have seen people overstaying their visa because VJ's cancellation. You'd end up paying a fine, another visa, and accommodation.

      I have tried Vietjet multiple times and got flight delivery in time almost every trips. Very small delays somtimes.

      In contrast, Jetstar flight, same route, got delayed from 11PM to 5 AM. Only get notification at the airport, so no choice but to wait there. So f* Jestar, the Viet people do it better 😂

      I few domestic with them and they have been great. Don't think I experienced any delays with them but I was flying domestically.

      lots of good experiences on Vietjet, both international and Viet Nam domestic.
      yes they are budget, but as long as you keep expectations low, it's not an issue

      the only flight i've ever taken with them was delayed by 18 hours… which they communicated well in advance (we knew the night before that our 7am flight was now supposed to be late night the following evening so we slept in and had a regular day… but was then delayed by another hour or two once we were at the airport.

      my seat didn't recline cause there was a book stuck in the mechanism, and the entire side of the armrest fell off my wife's chair in turbulence while landing (business class seat)

      the service on the flight was questionable and nothing was really explained to us beyond "yes you have to choose which noodles you want for breakfast in 9 hours time right now" (turns out the noodles came with a tray of other stuff as well that they neglected to mention)

      the flights were ridiculously cheap, you get what you pay for…. would i fly them again? if the price was right…. but i'd prefer someone else :)

      FWIW their ontime performance is some of the worst in the world, so yeah just don't plan any short layovers… leave a full day of buffer!

      They do the job but you get what you pay for. It's as budget as budget gets.

      The airport experience in HCM is the real disaster though, so just set your expectations and you'll be right.

      Apparently so but I’d imagine you’d still need to research the individual provider and weigh up the risks.
      I’ve heard similar comments about both Vietnamese and Thai dentistry - about 1/10 the cost of many Australian procedures, foreign trained and had very modern equipment.

      Currently living here, dental here is way better than in Australia factoring in their skills, volume and equipment. The pre, mid and post service is something that's non existent in Australian dentistry.

      depends what you value really. if youre after cheaper prices then yes. the skill and quality of service isnt as great but its enough to get the job done. \

      I do know a few that are planning to stay there for a month to do more extensive procedures and the costs goes from 30k down to 3~4k.

        Skill and quality depend heavily on luck and research. There are too many dental clinics, many of them are dodgy, while only some are extremely good.
        A note: always check negative reviews on google map rather than positive ones. Many clinics use fake positive reviews. Only go there if, after reading the negative feedback, you are still comfortable with it.

      I got 4 fillings done (600k VND each) in November 2025, clean and whiten and moulds to do whitening back home in Aus. Total was around 6 million VND maybe $340ish AUD. They're very good at it. Super clean dental practice. Can share their Facebook page if you're interested. They're more on the expensive side compared to others there but I felt it was worth paying extra for them.

      My wife and I had some work done (in Da Nang). Excellent service, the X-ray and treatment equipment were next-step tech compared to what my local clinic uses. Great pre and post-treatment service, no need to make an appointment further out than 24 hours. Would do it again in a second

      I got 'Smile Design' which ended up being 5 veneers and 5 crowns done in Vietnam over 10 years ago. I'm still happy with the result & I saved so much money. The place was called Dr Hung & Associates - you can find them on google.

    It's the only direct from Brisbane, beats getting off the plane and adding 3hrs to the trip. Never had an issue internationally, domestic Vietnam is always a shit show for all the airlines.

    The airport is changing around June/July so you will have to get a 1/2 hour bus into district 1 from there..

    If you book. Make sure you get your visa done quickly. It should be straightforward but you're meant to have a "ward" for your accommodation and I struggled to find the right one!

        Yeah i think it's all split. But tbh, they don't seem to check. I applied for 5 visas and 2 peoples photos i uploaded with them wearing glasses and it was still approved. 3 years ago i cropped all our photos from passport and used as "current photo" and it also approved. I don't think they check as it's just a revenue thing..

    I took a vietjet flight from bangkok to chiang mai last year and the staff were all the most blond haired blue eyed europeans I had ever seen, what strange set of circumstances could have lead them to be on a flight there let alone working for that airline at all?

    I just booked flights in Aug 2026; Melbourne to Ho Chi Ming city. I got redirected to book with City.Travel (well chose it out of 3 options provided) confirmation email does NOW show the carrier (it previously did not); however, according to some of the reviews for City.travel they are known for letting customers down. Should I cancel the charge or is there a way I could "secure" confirmation of the flights 100%?

    managed to log into Vietjet website I can only see my departing flight but not the return one lol

    I have sent a Whatsapp message to City.travel (they don't allow emails to get through for customer service both of my emails bounced back as their servers rejected them) requesting confirmation of outbound flight as well as changing the generic email address attached to my booking for one i can access (mine!)

    I just came back from HCM and word of warning: they only had 5 counters to handle ALL departing international flights. Took 1.5 hours just to check-in. Then another hour queue for immigration exit.

          Can vary depending on where you buy it from. Mine was roughly $20 on arrival and $35 on departure from memory.

          They will message you on WhatsApp in advance and you tell them when you will arrive. They will have a piece of paper with your name on it and you just go see them, show your ticket and they take you to an empty line while others wait for hours sometimes in the general line.

          On arrival it’s first thing off the plane. On departure it’s after you check-in your bags. Yes, check-in is not included so I recommend going to the airport extra early on departure as it’s a huge mess.

    VietJetAir does the job, I've flown them to HCM a few times now but damn it's as budget as budget gets. If the difference is like $200 or so, I'd definitely go a better airline, but otherwise you'll be fine. It's super crammed in, very budget offerings onboard, no in-flight etc. Plane is nearly always late and 100% capacity.

    Australian airport experience is pretty same-same, but expect to have a horrible time at HCM, especially departing. Takes ages to check-in and even double that to pass through customs as the officers deliberately dawdle in the hopes for a golden handshake. Just keep that in mind and you'll be fine. Set your expectations etc.

    TLDR: It does the job but you get what you pay for. You won't care once you're enjoying your vacay though!
