Where to Sell Jade in Sydney?

My wife inherited some jade and gold jewellery from her 100+ year old great grandmother and while she has sentimental attachment to many things she doesn’t care for these. She’s contacted a few auction houses and jewellers without anyone replying about the value or if they would purchase.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on where these type of items could be sold in Sydney? I assume areas like Bankstown perhaps however wouldn’t know where to start other than walking around the streets.
The items are genuine Jade from a Hawaiian jeweller with 14 karat gold.

Any thoughts much appreciated

Just to clarify - is your wife Jade and you want to sell her?

Maybe I should remove the capital letter

      • People trafficing is still wrong.

        • I don't know what that is but if it's as bad as people trafficking they should make it illegal..just like everything else is.

      Next thread.

[AMA] I sold my wife Jade to cash converters for $5 based on ozbargain advise.

$5? but cash converters needs to make a 69,420% profit.

3 fiddy. take it or leave it.

I will have you note I have first dibs on any jade monkey

        • $3,476.

          solid profit

  • Not an expert. But I have seen broken jade bangles being turned into similar jewellery pieces. The most valuable will prob be the gold content.

Most expensive jade jewellery i have seen before are typically full bangles.

Yes, normally broken ones are connected like this. They have done their "duty" :P

The jade in the photos looks roughly 30-50 years old.

Uncoloured and untreated natural jade has been very valuable, but past 1-2 years the value has gone down a lot. I also think the value in these is in the gold, the jade may not be that valuable. Consider keeping the items unless you have to sell. Sell the gold only and keep the jade pieces if the cash converters etc doesn't pay much for the jade.

      • Thank you, appreciate the input

Have you checked the glove compartment?

  • Would estate jewellers be interested in something like these?

There are very many qualities of jade and only a professional jeweller would know how to determine this.

  • Does it have to be Sydney? You can try here

  • They look quite lighter in colour to what I was expecting to see. Does that make that jade less valuable than the very green jade?
