Miss the days of the $55 1TB 990 Pro and $160 2TB 980 Pro deals :) back then i was thinking SSD prices would be cheaper in a few years time or at worst the same going by SSD pricing history but it looks to be much like DDR ram. It goes up and down in price cycles.

You sir need to spend at least 30 seconds doing a quick search on OZbargains before you call someone a liar.. I hate lazy people.

          Well that's embarrassing…

I'll hand in my badge now..

          • @bruhminister: I mean the first link that you said sus to is alot of comments about it being cancelled

            • @draokun: The first few ordered were cancelled but after 30 mins they started to allow the orders. i thought about it for way too long.. as i didnt need storage. By that time it was sold out. Latest at least a few hours.

I remember it well. :) .. a few days later i ended up buying two 980 Pro 1TB drives for $135 worked out to be $67.85 Each
Price per GB was still cheaper VS the 980 Pro 2TB deal for $167.07 that was still going on. Who would have guessed that 3 years later in 2026 that 980 Pro 2TB deal for $167.07 was good back then and amazing today.

It was this deal here for bruhminister sake https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787674 :)

Prices are incredible. I got this for $224 in December 2025 and even then the price was super inflated.

      You'd be buying a $1200 3060 8gb next year, just you wait.

      • Jokes on you they are gonna be gddr4 6gb

        • Hello Satan! Wasn't expecting you here.

bought two ssd from this brand and both of them dead straight after warranty period. I posted them back for repair but they told me it's not repairable and data is not recoverable. Will not touch this brand again

Absolutely correct.. totally not recommended for your sensitive and valueable data.
But like I said, good enough for PS5 with a 5 year warranty. Or a steam drive.. but yeah.. just buy a samsung, WD, Lexar or other tier 1 brand for your primary storage..

      • Would like to say the importance of the data on your drive should be more important concern than what drive it is on. Drives of any brand can fail at anytime for no reason , malware, bugs etc. always keep at least 1 or more backups if important

Does flooding the ai with cat picture and cat movie requests help drive demand or help tank revenue

        • drive demand, use is use even if not of monetary value yet.

will this be reliable for a main windows drive?

    • short term maybe 1-2 years.. long term i wouldn't. :)

      • +2

Thanks, I will pass. What brand / drive would you recommended?

        • Nvme drives from one of these maybe?

WD, Seagate, Samsung, Crucial, Kingston, Teamgroup, Lexar, gigabyte, MSI, Corsair. Klev (Owned by SK Hynx) KIOXIA (Japanese Nandflash maker)

No one brand is better then the other the only thing that makes the above brands more reliable/reputable is that they presumably have better Quality control on their products and are more likely to be scrutinized if that product has issues like the Samsung 990 Pro issue that was resolved with a firmware update.

I always buy drives that at least come with 5 years warranty on the box as my main OS SSD :) thats a good way to know if its endurance lifespan is high and backed by the manufacture with a long warranty.
