A small vertical satchel to carry all of your daily essentials. It's quite popular and a relatively new product that was released in the middle of last year.

Has a beige variant, black variant and also a black X-PAC variant.
The option for an X-PAC variant is enticing but a lot of other reviewers said that the material was less flexible and PU coated zippers are usually a drawback for long-term use.

I have one. It's small, great for international travel and carrying essentials in front of you and out of your pockets. There is an RFID pouch there as well. The only major gripe I have with this pouch is that the rear slip pocket has nothing securing it closed, not even a piece of velcro or snap button. For what's supposed to be the most secure pocket that's closest to your body, it's a bit ironic it has the least secure opening.

  • Nice purse.

  • So I've got a couple smaller slings (bum bags really but I use them over my shoulder) and they can fit 500-600ml bottles of water + whatever else this could hold.. Do people just raw dog travel/a day out without water bottles? (I've also noticed this on some hikes.. I've got a 2.5L bladder osprey bag) and I see people just walkin through with their phones, and then there's some super unprepared people with their thongs/dress shoes?!

Do I over pack/prepare? Normal sling/day out bag is a water bottle, glasses (prescription sunnies/swap case), small pack of tissues santiser lip blam, keys, and maybe a small pill packet thing (like panadol/neurofen etc, though I'm prone to tension headaches etc). If it's cooler I'll have a jacket draped over this sling/bumbag too.

I've been trying to find a perfect daily sling that fits all the above + my A6500 with a single lens, but 4L is too small, 6L is like 2x the size of 4L, my 10L bag is big enough to take a laptop/to the office (did this yesterday) and is too heavy filled up. (I have a ~12l osprey pack non-bladder I used for my carry on under seat + overseas walk around bag in 2024).

Do people just buy bottles of water on a whim or just rely on cafes/food places/public bubblers on the way etc

    • Sounds like you've got the gripes of someone who is simultaneously in r/manybaggers and r/onebag.

To answer your first paragraph - people just live differently man - it's not any indication of how you should live. What you call super unprepared sounds like just people who want to walk and enjoy their day whilst wearing the first bit of footwear they see as they walk out the door.

I don't carry an a6500 with me, only a H35N on my travels. It fits in this fine if I have my phone and wallet in my pockets. On the water bottle front, I use a carabiner attached to the hook/lid of this small Nalgene bottle

There's no perfect daily sling unfortunately. Onebagging is life's biggest lie. If you look at that reddit thread, it's full of people 'searching' for that elusive onebag, yet failing to realise that on the journey there they've bought and sold tens of different kinds of bags to get there. My best advice is to get 3-4 bags of different sizes and pack to what you need for the day. I have this smaller sling, as well as a Goose for days where I need a few more things. I also have an AER City Pack Pro 2 for a big day out where I need my laptop and a Patagonia MLC Mini 30L for anything requiring a flight interstate or overseas.

It's healthier for me to know that I'll be content with these 4 bags rather than trying to find that perfect single bag that ticks all my boxes. People's needs change all the time - this is why onebagging rarely works.

      • I don't even have a reddit account lol.

I have 2 slings, 2 hike style packs, a 10L side/sling, a 20L full size work backpack and another 12L work provided backpack. I'm not about the onebag just trying to find one that does work for the occasion where I'm out an entire day but also want to take my mirrorless/have it handy in a side bag rather than in a backpack (I have a wrist strap for it, so if I'm in an actual like.. destination place maybe in some botanical gardens it'll be on my wrist anyway) but for the quick moment I want to whip it out taking off a backpack is mildly inconvenience. First world problems i know).

Yeah I'm not super keen on external carriers for bottles (was looking at the PGYTECH 6L Sling v2) - it has that pouch for a bottle to pull out, I just prefer contained designs. (I know, seems counterintuitive to keep a water bottle next to a camera but hey).

I don't disagree with the just go about the day, walk wherever with whatever, but I'm talking full on middle of nowhere bush hikes too - just makes me legit concerned they're gonna be dehydrated/pass out or heck, trip/hurt themselves on a trail.

PS: The goose bags are cute, nice design/colours!

        • Yes haha, but I mean a lot of people who I read are having very similar gripes to you. I just think that water bottles and slings are historically not a combo that bag manufacturers really go for. I was going to recommend a Peak Design 13L Sling But it seems really unwieldly at that size.

Maybe a Kanken with a bottle attachment on the side pocket? Or you might be interested in a fold-out water bottle that can fold out to solid or stashed away. You'd need regular access to water taps along the way though.

Haha yeah. Your concern is valid but at the same time some people are just kinda silly like that unfortunately.

I love Crumpler. Wish I had more of their stuff. They've gone back to the original owners who made quirky bags with quirky names and colours.

          • @tacos4brekkie: Have genuinely never heard of Crumpler til now! I'll have to suss em out.

Yeah if my 10L fully loaded is too bulky/heavy on my shoulder I'm sure a 13L will hurt more haha. Trying to find the balance of convenience and weight..

The answer is probably just stick to a small backpack and keep the camera out all the time lol. No back/neck pain and I'm always ready hehe. (I'm trying to use my phone less for things/enjoy the moment without distractions, hence dedicated camera, got the a6500 for free so just needed a good lens. Got the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. May get 1 lightweight prime at some point)

            • @ReaperX22: Crumpler is peak! They started out in Melbourne in the 90s and gained a cult following. Best part is they have physical stores in most major cities so you can go in and try them yourself. They have a made in Melbourne range which is super exxy but Australian made. Just funky.

              • @tacos4brekkie: I had a Freitag Top Cat (wasn't called that back then) for about 8 years, then gave it to my daughter, who had it for another 8.
Not sure what happened to it after that, but it was the best bag I've ever owned.
                Solid, yet flexible.

With Old School cool, like Crumpler of old.

                Man, they are EXE now!

          • @tacos4brekkie:

They've gone back to the original owners who made quirky bags with quirky names and colours.

Didnt realise - they went through a period of turmoil where they kind of get out of touch with what made them great, ALSO, imo the quality really went out the window. Its good to see they are back on track. I was a massive fan of crumpler back in the day, might look into their offerings again.

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: The crumpler rabbit hole is kinda fascinating ngl. A few years ago they found over fifteen thousand items in a South Korean warehouse that had their old 2000's stock. They now sell them at super cheap as part of their archive collection, all in mint condition. I've bought a few little digicam bags for harddrives, cables and USB's for $5 a pop through there and they are super sturdy as they come from a time when things were generally better mass-produced.

    • I picked up a bellroy sling which is great for a number of small items, but doesn't fit a water bottle annoyingly. the strap attachment clip is strong enough that i put a carabiner on it, to which i'll clip a 600ml caemlbak bottle. I'll have a carabiner on the other side to which I might clip a baseball hat if it's sunny or rainy

I'm with you - a water bottle is essential when you're out!

      • I have the bellroy lite sling (not mini) and it just fits a 750ml camelbak chute. Uses up pretty much the entire main compartment though.

They say its 7L but its more like 3.

      • Memobottle. Expensive, even overpriced. But they will fit nicely.

I use larger venture sling and lite slings with the A6 (375ml) bottle. Not enough water for a full day so you'll need to refill it or get a larger model. I prefer not carrying too much water and weight.

Flat profile means I can pack sony XM4 headphones with them, even in the lite sling. A round bottle will make this impossible.

        • That's really clever! Thanks for sharing

    • I only hike with samsonite suitcases I buy from the sales I see on ozbargain.

      • …Would you believe we got a Samsonsite suitcase recently from an ozbargain sale? (large check in tho :P)

        • Not large enough for my hiking needs!

    • A lot of people go with this uniqlo bag and just use a camera wrap. I recently got one from ulanzi from AE for cheap and it's great quality.

The PGYTech OneGo also looks good without being too big and doesn't look like a camera bag.

        • Ah yeah nice. Uniqlo bag is cool, one of my slings is the uniqlo one in purple. Didn't realise they had one like that. Will give it a looksee.

I've seen that PGYtech onego bag online but kinda wish I could see it in person. I saw a couple 6L bags at DigiDirect store but am trying to avoid blind buying my next bag heh

        • I use this Uniqlo bag and can confirm it’s a nice bag for edc. Otherwise also like the Topo designs 7l but I think it’s not available anymore.

        • Why is the onego exy

    • If you want one, perfect daily sling, the best choice is to go big IMO. You can carry fewer stuff with big slings, but you can't overstuff small slings. I use my 11 liter Alpaka Flight Satchel as my only sling ever since I bought it; no matter how much I'm carrying. I've had many days where I just have my phone, wallet, earphones, and a few small items filling up the front pockets, and the main compartment is completely empty. I've also just got back from an overseas trip using that bag as a personal item (the intended purpose), and it fits my tech pouch, steam deck, XR glasses and a bunch of other stuff.

I think they key of using a big sling as your only one is to buy one that doesn't feel weird when carrying it near-empty. This one did the job really well due to how it contorts around my body when wearing it so it's really comfortable empty or full.

  • I've been waiting 10+ years to upgrade my Lowepro Passport Sling but nothing has come along that has the same capacity and style.

    • Ohh that's kinda sick, the 1 tall side for the bottle is cooool! It looks silly but if it's practical… Heh

      • Exactly that part is invaluable. It can carry a tripod there also and a drink bottle in the external back sleeve if needing to take both. That main tall side can also expand to fit in large items and then zip back up to be svelte. It just fits in my large double walled 1.5L insulated water bottle there when it's in thin mode.

It's still in incredibly good condition considering it's been with me on all my travels and hasn't been treated well.

  • love Tomtoc products - too bad i've already got one slingbag

    • I commend your restraint, be proud of that!

  • $45.59 if you purchase through amazon business

  • Eshay look

  • The deal is not expired, purchased one now!

  • Why are these things worn by either elderly people or teenagers? Serious question

    • Cause elderly are like teenagers

  • slightly more expensive but i much prefer the Pacsafe go anti theft micro. As these are mostly used for travel, the anti theft zips and cut resistant strap are great.

  • This thread in itself is so poisonous I have to restrain myself from buying something.

  • Been meaning to get this on sale so thanks OP!
