2 months for 1gb plan wow

  • +1

Worked for me, only left 2 months ago.

    • Eh? Did it work, even though offer terms mention 12 months exclusion period?

It let me sign up, showed $50 cost.
Activation date is 23 days away though.

I may as well move from Arctel due to IP issues and no public facing static ip address.

    • +1

I did that with the last Amaysim deal and there’s some really annoying latency issues (like there was with Arctel)

      • +1

I got no issues with speeds or latency with Arctel, however, I have issues with their constantly rotating IP address pool causing issues with a SaaS app I use and i have to constantly sign in.

Raised support ticket and they admitted they know about this as others have reported the issue and said other users use a VPN to get around this.
Happy to pay the $5 for their static ip but it is not a true public facing IPv4 static ip address but set up via DMZ. more info here: https://whrl.pl/RgTf9c

        • Yeah sucks…

          $55mth smh

    • With Arctel.
Not your use case, but for general purpose home use, it works just fine for us.

      What sorta ip issues?

  • +3

You can pick a connection date up to 1 month in advance. Perfect for me since my Telstra NBN deal will come to an end by then!

    • +1

      Hahahaha same for me :)

    • If I connected on 21 November and the discount runs until 21 February, should I set the connection date earlier than 21 February to be safe?

      • +1

Yeah I think people usually connect a day earlier just to be safe.

  • Offer ends 04 February, according to the amaysim app.

    • According to their website, 500 and 100 ends 26 Feb and 1000 ends 4 Feb.

  • +1

I got $40/m promo for 500/50. So far so good.

  • +2

It says no lock in contract.
So i can cancel after 2 months (on the 50% off plan for the first 2 months)?

  • Thanks. Cheap childcare for 6 months.

  • Was about to jump to dodo $61 500/50 plan. Good deal.

  • horrible for gaming or okay?

    • +1

Amaysim is fine, has POP in every state so no extra latency no matter where you are.

  • do these guys use optus backhaul?

    • Yeah Optus.

  • moving from exetel $80p/m plan

I’m curious about other people’s experience with amaysim nbn.

I signed up for $100 cashback and paying $70 a month for 500/50 HFC in Brisbane. Honestly the only time it’s hitting advertised speed is on a speed test…never goes over 300ish download on steam etc. I have also got repeated dropouts, pages won’t load etc intermittently. My work virtual desktop drops connection randomly even when internet otherwise seemingly working. These problems started as soon as we switched over from leaptel. Honestly you can’t pay me to use them again. Will be porting out after serving the cashback condition period.

    • Sounds horrible

    • Same experience here, left after a month. Worst experience.

    • I have lots of problems with things just refusing to connect (e.g if I go to do a speed test it takes like a whole minute to do anything at all). I did have similar issues with Arctel which I was using before but didn’t have that Superloop or the various others I used before that. Sometimes even a simple Google search will just not work at all lol

    • Similar experience. Only getting less than 300Mbps on the 500/50 plan. I am in the Melbourne SE suburbs. Planning to port out once the next NBN deal appears.

    • Yeah not worth the trouble sometimes, do people still move every 6 months to save $20 a month?

      Doesn't sound very good..

      • There are more than 3 good ISP for the $20 off rotation every 6 months.

        • Yeah probably worth the effort now that prices have gone up, wasn't really when it was $50-60/m

    • Errr did you try another ISP at the same location?

I thought all the hardware was the same, and it realy depends on your cable connection at your house. Unless whether you go with amaysim or exetel, each company hires out different hardware at the exchange? Or they don't allocate enough bandwidth for users at certain locations because that's all they pay for to the nbnco?

      • yea that's what i thought until I got amaysim. I had been with multiple companies prior, last being leaptel, never had any issue like this until the switch to amaysim.

        • Spinel is another one to avoid, unless live In Syd near the pop.

        • well i'm about to find out lol

          • @CalmLemons: Good luck! Hope you have a better experience than some of us at your location. I really wanted to like them because of the price.

            • @jezza p: A bit like you get what you pay for kind of thing?

              • +1

@G-Shock: Yea…to me it’s about value for money. If it’s so bad that I can’t even use what I pay for properly, then it’s not worth going with the cheaper option. That said…there are companies charging arms and legs but they aren’t necessarily better (for what my needs anyway). For example, I was with Aussie broadband at some point and then switched to leaptel because of their 12-month promo, I couldn’t really tell the difference and yet I was saving $20 a month.

                • +1

@jezza p: Agrees. Yes leaptel is great and it's known that ABB is the most expensive.

  • CGNAT?

    • +2

      amaysim nbn doesn't use CG-NAT.

    • Amaysim is on Optus NBN, dynamic IP not yet CGNAT.

  • Ffs just signed up to Telstra 50% off for 2 months last night! Would’ve done this instead

    • You are still in cooling off period. Just call Telstra and cancel the churn if it hasn’t happened

    • This is better than Telstra?

      • +1

        Cheaper than Telstra…

  • Anyone else getting "Store temporarily unavailable" on Shopback?

  • Are they no longer on TCB?

    • Wow, looks like it. I'm waiting for TCB to resolve a missing cashback issue from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/934560.
Probably no hope now….should've gone with SB.

      • Maybe reach out to TA to see if he can help?

      • I'm on the same boat…fingers crossed.

  • Store temporarily unavailable on ShopBack

    • Yeah damn would be awesome to stack. Hopefully it comes back before the realm expires.

    • Anyone here from Shopback? Store temporarily unavailable… would be nice if some CB was available for switching to Amaysim.

  • Will my existing Optus and mesh work or will I have to buy a new modem with mesh?

Optus is getting too expensive and will have to start hopping on regular basis it seems

    • Should work fine. You will lose 5G sim backup which would be my only reason to join optus

  • Origin is offering $62 for 500/50 plus 12 months Amazon prime if anyone's interested. Call them and ask if not listed on website.

  • Is this the best NBN deal currently?

  • +2

Does anyone know why they don't offer ipv6?

    • Amaysim is on Optus NBN network.

  • +1

Perfect timing, thanks OP. Glad this one doesn't have 30 days notice period like Scumloop.

    • It’s true that they don’t require notice to port out…but they don’t refund difference if you port out earlier than what you have prepaid.

      • that's no big deal, you can easily sign up with other ISP ahead of time and pick an activation date.

  • Ah shame I can't sign up for an activation date in 5 months' time, just switched over to Tangerine's $63.90 500/50 deal for 6 months.

    • NBN deals come up all the time, if you're happy with yours just check again closer to when your 6 months is up and I'm sure you'll find another deal 😉

  • +1

Thank you OP! Signed up for a date in future.
Have been happy with Leaptel but am at the end of my discounted rate.

    • have you contacted them to see if they can extend the discounted rate? i have had success with them re extending new customer promo previously, but haven't tried for about a year now.

      • +1

I contacted them, I want a late March activation, they told me to set the activation to 28-Feb and then contact them 30 days before my real date to change it.

  • Leaptel have been great but i dont need the speed im on. My 1 year discount ends on the 26th Feb so this is great timing. $60 for 500/40 is good.

      • I didn't realise Leaptel needed 30 days notice. Thanks for that. Notice now given.

        • I was told no notice period required when I cancelled.

            • @G-Shock: Yes, jump on chat and ask to cancel on a specifc day. I was on FTTP 500/100 reverting to $93 after my discount period. I asked if I could cancel at the end of my billing period (4th Feb) or if I need to give 30 days notice. Answer I got was that there is no 30 days notice and he is happy to submit the cancellation. Got an email shortly afterwards confirming cancellation.

  • Is there any notice period for cancellation?

    • From the website:
Do I get charged if I cancel my amaysim NBN plan?
No way. You can leave us anytime without penalty. We’ll miss you but you can change or cancel your NBN plan whenever you want. You won’t find any lock-in contracts here.

  • Apparently the place we are moving to next week requires a technician to visit. Not sure why as there is already the NBN box in the property so I assume they have been connected before. Website says it can take 2-4 weeks so I'll need another provider

  • Ported over today but note that they are having issues with new connections. NBN support on chat said to wait 24hrs.

    • Wow, this issue has been happening for a long time now.

    • Same thing with me, the worst

  • Avoid this provider. My service was meant to begin on 31 January, but a provisioning outage left me without broadband for the entire weekend since they can only resolve it on Monday.

    • It says a lot about their customer service. I’m coming from Superloop and the difference is huge.

  • As per other comments- something messed up with their porting.

Ported over 24 hours ago and nothing. Called support politely requesting expediting, best they said was 1-3 days for a reply from level 2 support. They don’t care but it’s a building of 7 people I have to deal with

If I port to another provide now, likely to be an immediate connection? Or is this an NBN side problem?

  • So can I cancel the service after 2 months (1000mbps plan) with no extra charges?

  • Just signed up with an activation date middle of next month, my current internet has stopped working yet I’m getting an IP from the original provider - just no data flow.

    Anyone else experienced this?
