  • Noice!! Got me excited for a second, turns out my address is not served. Checked a mate’s saved address in my account who lives 5 mins away from one of the stores, their address is also not served. I wonder if they are setting up new online delivery hubs like Colesworth.

    • It launched only today, so I’d expect the service area to gradually expand over time.

    • At the moment, they are shipping the orders from the Harris Farm store in Leichhardt.
Hopefully they'll expand the delivery area by using some of the other stores.

    • Same new address doesn’t work but old address does. Hopefully they expand

    • Do they take it online via Amazon?

      • Great question and my bad, after testing a 'dummy' order, it appears they don't let you pay with them when placing a Harris Farm order via Amazon

  • I've had far better luck with Amazon delivery drivers than with ubereats or deliveroo, so this will likely be a positive for consumers.

Amazon getting into this because they liked the profits and segment growth of their pantry essentials seems like they're setting themselves up for disappointment, tho. Unlike pantry essentials, where Amazon is often the cheap option especially once you factor in subscribe and save, the HF delivery service is a premium offering. Prices for HF items will not only not be lower than in-store, they'll be 10% higher, with high delivery minimums.

Then again, I guess Whole Foods in America is a premium offering and it does OK. I don't know how the Amazon Whole Foods prices compare with major American supermarkets, since I left the US before Amazon Whole Foods became a thing.

  • be aware, markup if you buy via amazon.

    e.g. A2 full cream milk
    store direct - $6.90

    Amazon - $7.59

So a 10% markup if you buy from Amazon

    • Yep - they announced there is a 10% markup on the normal prices, so the 10% off the $100 spend offer negates that a bit.

    • Markups like that, would probably be necessary for Harris Farm's fees towards Amazon.

  • Nooo they don't deliver to us! Now I know how those in WA feel

    1. Put Leichhardt as delivery address (since the HFM fulfilment is there).
    2. Find out each loose carrot is 0.89c, each nectarine $2.20, each pear $3.09.
  • oh markups, so glad my suburb is out of bounds.

  • I tried to add something to the cart.
Only option is 'repeat' and I cannot remove it?

    • Me too, I believe this is because you suburb is out of bounds (mine too)

Summary of Favorite Harris Farm Buys

The key question posed is about favorite products from Harris Farm.

      Key Findings:
      • MILKAPIG's Favorites:
        • Scotch Fillet Wagyu MB4-5: Liked for better taste than local butchers.
        • Random Harvest Truffle Oil: Best flavor enhancer compared to supermarket options.
        • Fish in the Family Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Sashimi: Fresh and buttery.
        • Produce and Fruits: Generally fresher than Coles and Woolworths.
      Community Input:
      • Users added items like organic sourdough, house-made pesto, and fresh orange juice.
      • Many emphasized the quality of products but noted concerns about higher prices compared to competitors.

The discussion reveals a mix of enthusiasm for product quality alongside skepticism about pricing.

      • There is hundreds of other boutique gourmet products, too many for trial and error.

I tried the recommends from that thread which were good

    • I really love the milk though I'm not sure if that's because I've only gone for the budget options in colesworth/aldi

  • Honestly suprised HF isn't bankrupt by now!
Their stuff is 100-200% more than the same items at Aldi and 5-10x more than Flemo markets!

    • They are located North of the latte line, in suburbs where people can afford it. They don't compete for Red Rooster's customers.

Some people live in these suburbs like moi might be able to afford it but prefer not to pay for the exy stuff and buy the rich/or pretend rich's rejects (trays, savemes, etc.).

      • They are losing money but less and less each year and getting close to $1b in annual sales.

I noticed they have been opening new stores here and there Marrickville recently opened last year

There's also one in Miranda which is south of the latte line

Love the store as everything's highly curated, just too many to choose from and try out

        • There's also one in Miranda which is south of the latte line

Everyone makes a mistake in the drive for growth! :) And someone mentioned Albury in the past. But I mean the bulk of the stores are above the latte line in affluent suburbs. A bit like Chargrill Charlie before it was sold to private equity and now trying to grow like mad and crossing the latte line.

However, like El Jannah, in the current boom, people seem to ascribe big multiples to growth, which is driving that kind of corporate behaviour.

    • Their markdowns are terrible too. Only 50% max discount. Most of it goes to the dumpster because it’s still too expensive! I see people raiding them for bread, fruit and veg etc. Perfectly edible food but they’d rather send it to the dumpster than discount it properly. Sad..

The weekly specials and tray sales can be excellent value at times though. Asian greens are often 99c and better size/quality than asian grocers too.

      • Perfectly edible food but they’d rather send it to the dumpster than discount it properly. Sad..

…and the worry is about plastic bags, paper straws and "food security".

    • As someone who shops for groceries at Aldi, the fresh produce at Harris Farm is better and sometimes also cheaper depending on what you get.

  • If you never use Uber Eats for grocery shopping (or just create a new account), there's $20 off $40+ with free trial Uber One for grocery shopping + a code shared by another Ozbargainer previously that can be used 2x $20 off $40+ ;-) PM if interested. You can just use the code if you don't want to use Uber One free trial.

I have checked it for Harris Farm. Legit 2x $20 off $40+ :P

    @ozjudas @OnlyOneStar @lovesabargain77 @Save Medicare @rheags @syba @whyisave @jzdhgkd @SmileSydney @sachz @freedomofspeech @MILKAPIG too

I checked this for example only:
    Subtotal $40.32
    Promotion -A$20.00
Delivery Fee A$0.00 (free trial Uber One)
    Service A$5.24
Membership benefit -A$1.41 (maybe from code)
Schedule Savings -A$2.20 (for tomorrow or next few hours)
    Total A$21.95

The Harris Farm location in my Uber Eats account is less than 2 km walk. Cheaper with this delivery than in-store purchase :P
