    Honestly way better value proposition than ChatGPT plus now and I can share my benefits with my Wife, thanks I've switched. Interestingly I upgraded from the 200GB plan and it added on the upgrade to the end of my sub instead of refunding and converting, so I have been converted to the 2TB sub including AI for a ~500 day period for only the extra $150.

    Gemini has improved a lot.
    But you still get pretty much everything for free at https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_chat

    I use it for making scripts for my google sheets and it has pretty quickly overtaken Chatgpt, it's better at long scripts, making changes without forgetting half of the previous script, looking at current scripts and optimising them.

    The image generation is also coming along very well.

        They are actually. My 2TB is about full, and the only available upgrade is the next level with AI, and no other options. I've just purchased a Pixel 1, to take advantage of unlimited storage.

    Everyone likes to say ai slop. But it's genuinely amazing what this tool can do. I've reversed engineered and made replacement pcbs for old tech using new off the shelf components and an arduino with little effort and zero coding knowledge. I use the family plan, so $300 a year for everyone to use this tool plus the storage is a bargain!

      Like any tool, it's only as good as the person weilding it. I agree that these LLM AI tools are becoming incredibly powerful and useful, but you must use them with guard rails on (in your own brain) and understand their limitations, which is what most ordinary punters don't do.

      This. I feel genuinely bad for people who still think AI chats are dumb and useless, and don't know how to take advantage use it to their benefit. But also feel kinda happy their ignorance means less load on the servers and better service for me 😜

      It's absolutely fked how much it's helped me out this last month, it's insanely useful man, I can't overstate it.

        They only show a limited selection on the link if you're already a subscriber. You need to go here then select "See more plans" and the cheaper (downgrade) plans will be there.

      Have a look at Immich if you have a NAS or a local computer that you can run 24/7 with remote access.
      But I don’t think there are any cheaper and convenient cloud options that gives you the same features and ease of use as Google photos.

          Yes, I don’t use it, but from what I understand, the phone app can automatically back up your photos.

          Yes, you can use a VPN, a tunnel, or even port forward if you have a public IP, though I don’t recommend port forwarding for security reasons.

    Getting conflicting information from Gemini (free version) about Workspace (Gmail, Docs, etc.) integration for the Premium 2TB plan, specifically whether I can use Gemini to search my docs and emails using natural language. At first, it said that only Google AI Pro 2TB has full Workspace integration, and that Premium 2TB (without “AI” in the name) only has limited access, meaning it can’t search but only allows AI assisted writing. But when I asked again (about AI capabilities), it said Google is rolling out Workspace support for Premium 2TB plan.

      Found the answer, Premium 2TB doesn't have AI overviews/ability to ask questions from Gmail and docs. That's a bummer !

      Can you ask questions from your Gmail inbox, like “When did I last buy a toner for my printer?”
      According to Google, even the premium (non AI plus 2TB) plan has some AI features, but they are not the same, things like AI Overviews and the ability to ask questions based on your emails and data isn't available.

        It started searching my email, and provided me the correct answer. See below.

      It’s not difficult, check out Immich (which you can deploy as a Docker container), as I mentioned in one of my previous replies. There are plenty of youtube tutorials.

      But if I click on Overview then just Google Storage Plans I can get 2TB for $14.99/month. - No AI however I don't need to pay $18 for the AI I just want my storage.

      i am also paying 32.99/mo but just "downgraded" to the $14.99/month plan and it gives you all the same features, besides "Google Home Premium Standard" whatever that means, and 200 monthly AI credits instead of 1,000.

        Google Home Premium is the product which replaces Nest Aware, it's $15/m as an add-on or included in the AI Pro plans through Google One.

        I'm definitely sending Google too much money each month between the YouTube Premium Family membership, 5TB Google One AI Premium subs but 🤷🏻

    This is kind of infuriating.
    I've been paying $149 for 2TB of storage since 2018 for Wordpress backups, but planning to cancel that this year because we now have data centre storage.

    Also kind of keen to play with Gemini, but not willing to pay unless it is better than my current solutions.

    Go to drive.google.com and nothing much there.
    Click the link in this post and all of these new features ARE listed under my 'current plan'
    Click the 'Google AI' link on the LHS of the Google One page and it takes me to a page to select 'Google AI Pro' and 'Google AI Ultra'

    Pro says '$0' so this must be it- except it clearly says '$0 for 1 month'

    tl;dr does anyone know how to activate these extra features on an existing plan which seems to qualify?

      I can say that every family member gets at least their own Storage (out of 2TB pool) and Gemini Plus on their own accounts (part of Family). Very convinient.

        OK, now I see that when I start a new Gemini chat, I see PLUS next to my account icon.
        At the bottom of the prompt entry field, I can select Fast, Thinking, or Pro.
        So it's all good!

            @illumination: Doesn't work or has a high chance of being cancelled. I used to use the Indian iOS workaround till they cancelled it out of the blue. The last few months there have been numerous stories from Reddit of similar cases so I would not bother.

I was using the method for over a year then renewed for a second year. 3 months later I got cut off as payment wouldn't go through, so I took out my dusty iPad logged into the throwaway Apple ID and found out it had been shutdown. Couldn't recover the password to regain access and Apple Support were not helpful. Ended up having to reset the iPad and get Apple to remove the Activation lock from the dead ID. Was a ton of work and I am glad it wasn't on my actual main Apple ID

    Was great in December, now they nerf it and made almost unusable and I use all my rates in couple minutes. Pro could be used like once a week, although I've pay for it to be refreshed every 5 hours. Coding is a complete disaster - it writes feature in couple minutes - I need then spend days fixing bugs for this feature. Documentation or research is basic at best. Better use Claude or Chinese models. Much much better quality. I've heard gemini 3.5 is top 1, but 3 - is ok(not great) on pro, very very bad in Flash

    Hot tip for anyone who just wants to play with the AI features a bit more before committing to a monthly plan, use Google AI Studio and set up billing on your API key - you'll get $300 worth of credit during the first 30 days and thereafter you just pay by the token (which if you're only an on demand occasional user like me, is much cheaper than committing to a monthly subscription).

      This gives less usage and ai pro. Last I heard, AI Pro has 100 daily chat limit with Gemini 3 pro, AI plus probably only has like 25-50
