This is not one of the ones that is listed. Also Nivea turned out to be one of the best ones from memory. Not in choices test, but whoever first kicked off this saga.

      • it is absolutely one of the ones listed, just the spray version.

however, it was as an SPF of 42 which is still pretty good.

No this version isn’t on the list. Other versions of Nivea is listed.

@Larsson: Sorry, but you're incorrect. The bottle may be different, but it's the same formulation.

            • +2

@modded: So confidently wrong. Literally completely different formulations -

              Squeeze Tube -
              Tinosorb S 0.5%
              Avobenzone 4.5%
              Homosalate 13%
              Octocrylene 5%
              Octisalate 5%

              Spray Bottle -
              Tinosorb S 0.15%
              Avobenzone 5%
              Homosalate 10%
              Octocrylene 5%
              Octisalate 5%

Looks like Nivea is one of the best in the second link according to their testing.

      • -1

It's in the 2nd rung of sunscreens that didn't meet their advertised SPF value, how that can be construed as "one of the best" is mind boggling. They advertise it as being SPF 50+ but the testing revealed it's actually SPF 40.

        • +3

The difference in sun protection from SPF30 to SPF50 is 1% (97% to 98% sun-protection).

I would say the amount of suncream you apply and the frequency of application will have a bigger contributing factor to sun burn risk, than the drop in SPF of this suncream.

@braddsey: That's fair enough, however it still fails to meet their claimed SPF 50+ rating.

And of that top 8 it's ranked 7th. Hardly "one of the best".

        • According to the testing by Choice, yes.

      • the claim was 50+, it was in the 40s. Sure it doesn't matter all that much, but it should correctly advertise 30+. The best ones were anything that scored 50+ because that's what they advertised.

    • Thanks for the info, very helpful

    can children use this product?

    • +4

The trigger is tricky for toddlers ;-)

    • +1

No, they will be instantly vaporised by the sun afraid.

Buy now, figure out if it's a great deal later.

Seems alright though, perfect size so grabbed a few for the kids to take to school!

  • Were to buy some but already have prenty of sun cream at home.

  • I paid $12.50 yesterday for this on Amazon S&S. I'll have to save that $3.50 elsewhere. No showers in February.
