Probably the best bang for buck mobile controller you can get. Far better than the more expensive Backbone One.

You would hope so at this price considering it doesn’t come with a screen.

There’s a mobile controller at this price point that comes with a screen?

      • Huh?

Note: this is the Bluetooth model.

Gamesir also makes a USB-C model of the G8 Plus (and also the G8 Galileo).

I picked up the X5s from Aliexpress recently, around $50.

Works great with moonlight/apollo streaming on my android.

A good option if you don't want to spend as much.

Still has hall effect triggers, haptics, gyro & is bluetooth.

    Retro Game Corp - X5s
Retro Game Corp - G8 Plus
Retro Game Corp - Tablet Gaming - Controllers section - Deal is for G8 Plus, which can fit up to 215mm)

    • +1 for the X5s. Have both this and the G8+ and find the lighter weight of the X5s more comfortable.

    • How's the latency on the x5s? Some complaints about it in the YouTube comments.

I up the USB-C model of this up via their official Temu store during a 40% off. It's great.

  • Who is using one of these with Y700?

    • Probably lots of folk

    • TIL about this tablet.

    • I am, with the older y700 with a headphone jack that I bought in 2023. I use this controller (G8 Plus) with a short type-c cable for Tate (vertical) shmups mostly, for low latency. Works great. It's fine for horizontal also but requires bluetooth as the tablet USB-C port is blocked in that position. Although it's barely noticeable the games I play are all fast moving reflex games so I prefer cabled. So for horizontal I use the G8 Galilleo instead which had to be slightly modded to fit but it's very simple, lots of youtube videos.

      • lol I just saw the mod, looks quite janky with the springs out in the open but I guess it works.

There's plenty of 3D printed mods to extend though - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnJq6vZZxgo

Tate mode looks cool, which games would be your pick?

        • Yes I have the 3d printed bracket. It's OK but if it existed at the time I'd get the newer MFi Type-C one since it supports longer devices and would fit without modification.

Tate mode looks cool, which games would be your pick?

I play old Cave shmups in Retroarch mostly, like Ketsui and Battle Garegga. Some Switch emulation. Lots of Pinball games, perfect for Tate, anything made for Android, not happy with emulation on those. For horizontal, right now I'm revisiting Horizon Chase which is fun.

@Falbium: nice, there's so much more than Raiden.

makes me want to get a joystick controller though

    • I use a Lenovo Legion G7 gamepad, which is a licensed copy of the USB version of this. It works with my phone too so it's not bound to Lenovo only, and can be bought cheaply from Aliexpress.

      • how much AU$+?

Sadly when i was overseas in china some order with jd and taobao both had to cancelled as they wouldn't ship it :( was around AU$45 there (used?/display models though)

        • Was also about $50 at the time I got it. Unfortunately looks like they've all doubled in price now, so scratch my above comment.

  • The massive camera bump island thing in the 17 Pro makes this sit weird, otherwise great product.

    • If you add a small 2mm rubber tab to the left side of the controller, it’s enough to push the iPhone slightly to the right and have the camera sit flush inside the recessed part of the extension bridge.

  • I've picked up the G8 Galileo in both Bluetooth and USB C versions used off marketplace for $50 and $30. I rate them highly, they're quite good. I wanted to try both for my Fold phone because the USB port is off centre (I preferred Bluetooth for this reason).

  • Thoughts on using this for a switch or getting a mobapad m6 hd instead?
