This is a weak 700w equivalent grinder. Also it doesn’t take standard discs so discs are more expensive. If you want to cut anything, especially steel, I’d look elsewhere.

That said these are great for things that don’t need much power, especially wire brushes and the like where you don’t need much power and you inevitably end up stabbing yourself on the steel wires trying to change the normal discs.

Also good if you’re switching back and forth between different discs as it’s super quick, tool-free and you don’t have to touch the discs if they’re hot.

I'm tempted to get it specifically for the tools free xlock. Annoys the hell out of me trying to remember where I put the stupid piece of metal to change discs whixh I've mastered at misplacing.. alzheimers kicking in.

I already have a standard 700w grinder and have never had any issues cutting anything (though I've used it mostly for grinding).
Whats the key issue in regards to cutting.. just takes longer?

Get a FixTex Nut, which is basically tool-less.

        • Thanks! Didnt know these existed! A simple solution for an annoying problem!

        • Cheers mate, just ordered 2

        • To be fair, the non x-lock bosch grinders come with those.

I've only ever had to use a tool to change a disc if the person before me used one to tighten it down, which isn't necessary.

        • Yeah hand tight is enough

      • Whats the key issue in regards to cutting.. just takes longer?

Yup, and seems to bind a bit more more with thin discs.

It's not something you notice until you use a more powerful one.

    • My current corded grinder, which this will replace, is only rated at 720w and I've used it to cut steel on plenty of occasions without issue. Also, none of the reviews on Amazon suggest that the unit is lacking in power. Although this is the weakest grinder in the Bosch Blue line-up, it's still targeted at professionals.

I received mine in the post today but haven't had an opportunity to try it out. Unfortunately it doesn't come with any discs and there is no carry case. Looking forward to not having to change discs using the annoying spanner thingie, or have discs work themselves loose while cutting.

TKD have a heap of Bosch stuff on decent discount. Changes a fair bit, especially low stock stuff so worth keeping an eye out.
Some that I think are worth a look

*Circular saw $230 down from $439 or with the L box for $309 down from $619
*216mm Pro Mitre saw $549 down from $989
*355mm Metal cut off saw $629.30 down from $899
    *216mm Table saw $699.30 down from $999
    *10 piece 5ah Kit $1499 down from $1999

New redemptions as of February - the table saw and cut-off saw now come with a 8Ah battery + charger

So does a different 216mm mitre saw that's an additional $50. It's mostly similar, but no bluetooth and slightly worse mitre angles.
