A new all time low on the previously popular Flint 3 router by nearly A$25 and the successor to the Flint 2. The most notable upgrades compared to the Flint 2 is that this offers the 6GHz band, Wifi 7 and all 5 network ports are 2.5GbE. However it's worth noting that the Flint 2 offers better range than Flint 3. Both run OpenWrt. Stack with 13% cashback from TopCashback for further savings.

Featuring BE9300 WiFi 7 (2.4GHz: 688Mbps, 5GHz: 2882Mbps. 6GHz: 5765Mbps), 1x 2.5GbE WAN, 1x 2.5GbE WAN/LAN, 3x 2.5GbE LAN, USB 3.0 port, 4 foldable antennas and an AU plug.

I picked one up in a previous deal and really can't fault it. More than enough range and the additional 2.5G LAN ports are perfect for all the computers and NAS drives that use the same.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results may result in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

And the Flint 3 has slower 5GHz than the Flint 2. And the Flint 3 has slower VPN speeds than the Flint 2.
But damn, that's a good price.

    • +4

Does the slower 5GHz really matter if it's 2882Mbps and your max speed is 500Mbps?

      • +2

2882Mbps is usually a theoretical maximum in lab conditions.

Once you start adding distance, and objects, throughput goes down.

At my router I can get 540mbps, two rooms away I can get 350mbps.

Outside in the yard I can get 30-40mbps.

        • +4

That's where 2.4GHz comes into play that handles range/surface penetration much better :)

    • If 5GHz is important look at xiaomi be7000. It has most of its bandwidth in dual 5GHz of its 5GHz + 5GHz + 2.4GHz configuration (no 6Ghz).

Has almost the same processor as Flint 3 as I know but the openwrt based OS is significantly locked down. It does allow you to run docker images, but that's about it for advanced customisation.

I have both routers. Neither is a replacement for the other because of the more accessible (although not pure) OpenWRT on Flint 3 and the range and 5G band of Xiaomi

      • How is the Wifi range/power on this compare to the BE7000?
I've set up 6 BE7000s so far for friends, family and meshe and the wifi range is insane, although not wifi 7.

Now I see these popping up on here all the time i'm wondering if there or the 7000 are a better buy if the main thing you care about is strong wifi signal?

    • If you have a medium to large home then I would buy Brume2 that has no wifi and connect to it some mesh wifi system with a few nodes to take care of good wifi coverage

Comes to $147.04 for me from here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005011584619434.html
    Remember TopCashback

  • @Clear Can't you use the $13USD codes rather than the $9USD ones?

    • Oops sorry yes

  • +2

Appears to be sold out :(

  • Beryl for US$62 looks like a bargain too.

  • Any recommendations on a PCIe Wi‑Fi 7 card

    • For Windows or Linux?

      • Got this - should I refund? Windows PC

FENVI BE200 WiFi 7 Card BE200NGW For Bluetooth 5.4 Tri Band 2.4G/5G/6GHz M.2 Wireless Network Adapter For PC Windows10/11 WiFi6E

Pairing with the modem from this deal

Trying to get past my current bottleneck to get 1000mb/s speed on FTTP (currently have Telstra Smart Modem 2 and Killer wireless n/a//ac 1535 wirelness network adapter)

        • That's an M.2 slot card for motherboards with the M.2 slot, Mini PCs and laptops. For the PCIe slot type Fenvi or DERAPID are fine. Make sure you get one with the 6GHz band. There's a few different chipsets around with their own pros/cons.

This one is Intel/AMD compatible and uses the Mediatek chipset, while this one uses the Intel BE200 that's not AMD compatible.

          • @Clear: Thanks, I realised couldn't replace the existing killer wireless adapter in the M.2 E-key slot as using OEM Dell Motherboard, so going to get your BE5400 you recommended

  • Sold out

  • One briefly came back in stock and I managed to grab it.

  • +1

With Aliexpress items, they often go in and out of stock once sold out, so if you missed out keep eyes peeled. Got an item a few weeks later at a cheaper price too

My flint 3 just shipped today. I got it for $183. But still better than buying from amazon. Funny thing is Amazon are the ones actually delivering it from Australia so Amazon must be like a warehouse for Ali Express or some sort of partnership. Weird. Fyi y'all i talked to amazon via online chat about price matching and they said they didn't but did pay me for a whole yr of prime so maybe try that if your already a member.

    • +2

Huh? They comped you a year membership because they couldnt price match? Sounds like you were very lucky and this wouldnt be a common thing.. Dunno if I could be bothered trying such a long shot lol

      • +1

I already had paid for a yrs prime and she goes we will offer you a refund for that purchase of the subscription. I said whats the catch she said nothing. Not arguing……

        • +1

Interesting. Now I am tempted to try it haha.. Thanks

  • +3

If you're not in a rush to upgrade, they're aiming to release Flint 4 late this year / early 2027. I saw some early photos posted a few weeks back, i guess it's not a final design / still under development but what they showed destroys this in every way possible

    • +2
    • Thanks for the info. Just a counter argument to this. When flint 4 releases say late 2026, it won't be under $150. If you need more performance than a flint 2/3, there are existing higher end products for that. But for an average home user this should be plenty fast for years to come.

Also, at the end of the day this is a $150 value for money product so it's by no means a significant investment. If something much better and much cheaper comes out, just upgrade and move on…

  • Dammit, for this for a mate at $178 from the last deal. $30 out. If it was my Coles ccard, I could've claimed price protection.

    • If it makes you feel better I paid like $190.

      • Same :( But I do have price protection card… Will be interesting if they account for the Aliexpress seller being in Aus or not…

  • +3

    Now listed at AU$149,121.99

But at least it’s eligible for AU$90.00 off on AU$750.00 :)

    • +1

      Not a deal!!!!! :P

  • It's back $174.57 currently

  • I was able to get one as well.

  • Can't figure out how to buy this.

Web app says "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed" when applying coupon code AUCD09 and the mobile app (signed in to the same account) thinks it can't ship this item to Australia.

    • +1

With that error people have reported that if they use a different browser it may work. Or turning wifi off and using data.

      • Thanks I think disabling uBlock Origin did the trick for the web app to accept the coupon code.

  • Codes no longer working unfortunately

Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount.

    • +1

      Set your currency to USD.

GST and shipping are not included in the minimum spend and some items in your cart may be ineligible for the promotion. AUD amounts are estimates and may fluctuate due to exchange rate changes, while USD amounts do not fluctuate. To avoid issues consider switching your currency to USD and ensure the minimum spend is met before applying the code.

      From the main coupon deal.

      • Thanks, ended up getting it for $159 anyway with another code so not too bad.

  • +1

Back in stock. I just ordered one for $149.05 AUD using code AUDC07

    thanks ozb's
