  • Might raise some AML flags moving $5m in cash

  • Isn't this equivalent to less than 2.5% pa interest earnings. Also isn't this getting close to encouraging people to dodge tax by dressing up interest earned as Qantas points?

    • THIS is the tax dodge that you're concerned about?!

  • Can be ok if get points in offset account

  • The fact that this is a transactional account with no eligibility to earn interest is like a deal killer for me. If I have A$5M in savings, why wouldn’t I just park them at Macquarie and earn my interest there?

    • Yeah agree , wish it was interest savings account

  • Any decent Qantas points deals since BankWest one died?

It is only 3-4% usually but it’s tax free.

  • Dies anyone know if this us for existing accounts as well?

  • This isn’t a new deal, also point vs value is damn low

    • It seems that the double points for 3 months is new?

Isn't 3m Qantas points for leaving $5m in an account for 3 months good value?*

I'm unsure of the value of the points, but 4% interest would yield ~$60K?*

*I don't have $5m cash, so all assumptions are dreamative speculation

  • This was a good deal a while back when the normal bank interest rates were only 2%, but now not really worthwhile (aside from tax advantage).

  • Interest on 100k would be $500 @ 5%

    Point's on 100k would be 20k worth $200 @ say 1c a point.

And this is really only for 2 months March and April, when it reverts to 10k in points.

  • this could be better if it was on top of the savings rate instead of txn acc

  • Deal has been extended to end of May.
