Most of the GPUs are on sale at centrecom except 9070.

    must resist

  • +1

    10% off 1039 is 944?

    • good pick up!

      • I think the point is 10% off 1039 is actually 935

        • They have done 1039/1.1 like a GST calculation instead of 1039*.9

  • Hm buy standalone or full pc build..

  • Any good SSD deals?
Whats the verdict on these Biwin drives?

    • I've got a gen 5x4 one with DRAM for my OS… Components and performance are solid.

Having said that, the only reason why I have it (and not a reliable brand gen 4x4 drive), is I got the 2TB one for about $250. Crazy considering it's gen 5x4 with DRAM.

  • +12

RAM prices are so ridiculous that new builds arent being made, hence GPU sales are tanking?

    • Ooo interesting take.. definitely a welcome change if true

      • +2

All other new PC sales are tanking,…. the issue is that in the next 6 months prices for GPU's will also go up a little due to the memory on graphics cards. The industry is going to shed jobs and profits over this time as the only people buying will be those who need to not want too.

  • So… Purchased a card the other day and now they've dropped in price. Anyone had experience with centrecom doing a refund of the price difference like JB Hi-Fi or do they make it difficult?

Just sent an email so hope they do a price guarantee as they haven't shipped the item as it's still processing.

        Thanks.

That is annoying, but fair and expected. I bought this card over a week ago for $1029. It's still in the post. I'd love to get that $85 extra back.

$1029 ($1047.87 after shipping costs) was still the lowest price amongst all of the retailers that deliver to my address. I was pretty happy with that price. I was expecting the price on this card to start creeping up with the high demand and nvidia's rival card (12GB 5070 ti) going out of stock soon, not drop another $85!

$944 is a killer price for this card.

        • +1

I got caught out by this too - paid $849 for the 9070 Reaper then the next day it dropped to $749.

I was initially disappointed by this but still got a good price

        • I bought one of these. Unfortunately $970 to deliver to Perth and with the PayPal fee. Still happy with the price though.

        • lmao, I bought 24 nuggets from KFC for $23 last week and I find out today it's 24 for $10.95

          Wish I got me refund

      • Thanks, I read it soon after I commented lol. It is unfortunate though, gotta give props to someone like jb who do price protection. My order is still in process 😔

        • +1

Yeah I know.. up until last year centrecom used to do change of mind returns.. they charges restocking fee if the product was open and generally didn't charge anything if unopened.. but not anymore..

    • I would call.

      • It is what it is. Their email just referred to their terms and conditions. $100 difference but regardless, bought it before knowing there was going to be a sale anyway.

JB would refunded me the difference though, no questions asked 😂

  • +7

Such a tempting deal but I might have to pass on this as I still have a 6800xt I bought 3 years ago that is still serving me good.

I wish the 5070ti wasn't $300+ more expensive, might've seriously considered buying a 5070ti if the price difference wasn't as big.

Hopefully I don't regret this decision lol.

    • +2

If you can use your 6800xt for 2 more years, you'd be alright!

    • 6800xt is a beast, definitely hold onto that for a while.
I'm using the inferior 6800 and it's still great for 1440p gaming.

    • +1

I'm still going to use my 6700 XT for another year or so.

    • This is exactly where I'm at. Happy 6800xt owner but need CUDA for some applications I want to try. The jump in price to NVIDIA for a material upgrade over the 6800xt is crazy

    • +1

nah you wont regret it. who cares if you do medium high instead of ultra settings

enjoy your games and check back on GPU sales 6-12 months later. screw big silicon

    • Also on my ex-mining 6800XT from 2.5 years ago. Still runs well with enough tweaking for 4K. Frame gen works well in some games.

  • Hmmm do I sell the 7800xt for this or do I keep it. Hard decision

    • +8

If you need FSR4 and RT, then go 9070XT. If you don't care about them then 7800XT is fine.
IMO, I don't encourage people swapping gpu at 1 grand as a norm. You should only upgrade when yours having issue or having specific needs, not the "new tech, better performance" reason.

    • Keep it

      • I will withhold my temptations this time. ive decided ill holding off for at least another year or 2

  • Bought

  • aww man, literally paid them 1084 last week for the 9070xt hellhound! :(

  • +10

This is a pretty good card. I'm upgrading to it from my RTX 3090.

For some people, this is the best of the 9070 XT cards. Performance, etc. is in line with the rest of the 9070 XT's but it's far more compact in every dimension. Be aware that it's using the lower power profile of 304W, so it's going to be in the bottom third for performance (about 1-2 fps below the middle power profile cards). The same as all of the other 304W cards like the XFX Swift, XFX Mercury, Sapphire Pulse, Asus Prime, Asrock Steel Legend, Asrock Challenger, etc.

Hardware Unboxed comparison of this specific card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQQUfQw5JA8

"the PowerColor Reaper … is an easy buy"
"as compact as possible without being overly compromised"
"a cool and quiet graphics card that only takes up 2-slots"

  • This one or the Powercolor Hellbound? its only $46 difference.

    • I want the red devil , but i don't like the massive light at the front.

      • As an owner of red devil (spectral white), I hate that the card is so huge. 340mm in length. Almost single handedly ruins any sff plans.
That being said, beast of a card. Whisper quiet.

        • Just bought this exact card today

        • What motherboard did you pair it with?

          • @tnarg: I have it on an asrock b850m steel legend in an ncase m2 grater.
            Tight fit. Absolutely love it!
That particular mobo was at the time of purchase the cheapest am5 matx with more than 2 m.2 slots.

            • @bruhminister: Cheers thanks for sharing. I have just bought the - MSI MPG B850 Edge TI WIFI AM5 ATX Motherboard. I also picked up a new Ryujin III 360 all white for $300. Now the tough part is what Case is going to look good

              • @tnarg: Well you've bought an atx mobo and 360 aio. So that sets your brackets.
I absolutely love the proart case.

    • Hellhound is one step up from this. Slightly bigger and clocks slightly higher, with a bigger footprint (heatsink). The case is going in might be the deciding factor?
I got the Hellhound from this mob Dec 29, there were delays in shipping which were not made apparent when ordering nor was there communication. YMMV.

    • @yak made a good point about the Reaper being a really good card, despite being the cheapest

look here, the hellhound is included in the benchmarks

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQQUfQw5JA8

    • I bought the hellhound white last week from them. I like the color plus hellhound has better cooling and performance, or at least that's what the interwebz says.

      Powercolor's tiers work like this:

      Reaper is entry level
      Hellhound is mid-tier
      Red Devil is flagship

  • now this is is a good price. of you've thought about this card, jump on it. biggest advantage is that it doesn't have that new dog shit power connector that will cook your card

  • +2

This is a very good deal.

If you have been on the fence purchasing a GPU…do it now. Impending price rises are going to make these more expensive.

  • I'd love to jump on this and upgrade my GTX 1080 but I have a predator X34P with gsync module and no desire to upgrade the monitor so I'm stuck paying the nvidia tax I think.

    • Can put the price difference between this an the Nvidia cards towards a new monitor. I'm also rocking a Predator (27") and an RTX 3070. These new cards will beat the Predator 165hz limit anyway.

  • Which 9070xt is the cheapest to waterblock? Cant seem to find a waterblock from a non-bykski/barrow brand.

    Edit: for this reaper card

    • I got the alphacool model from ocgear, for the reaper xt. Can vouch for that waterblock but it's like half the cost of the card. Haven't seen any cheaper blocks.

      • Cant find the listing on ocgear? Only red devil block from powercolor. Is if sold out?

      • +1

See it now. Its under the hellhound listing

  • buy now sell 2x in 12 months

  • I built a PC around July last year. Bought every part (including RAM) but didn't buy a GPU. I was evaluating between 5070ti and 9070xt. But the comments encouraged me to get the NVIDIA 5000 series supers that would be releasing this year. Well, it is this year and I have been using a PC without GPU for five months now. Don't know whether I should buy one of the GPUs that are already in the market or continue my wait.

    • +4

If you're going to continue to wait, it'll probably be another 2 years before prices are reasonable again. So it's either buy now, or wait a few years I reckon.

    • +2

As far as I'm aware there wasn't even any official announcement for 5000 Supers, and with the whole RAM shenanigans going on, you'll be waiting for nothing

Buy now before prices jump further

  • the whole nvidia 5 series is a skip. better off getting something now and upgrade when something better comes out? this card is cheap as (with all things considered)

  • RTX 5070 Ti is significantly more expensive, and seems to be hard to get new stock for now. Seems to be harder to source 16GB of VRAM for those cards. Expecting its competitor (the 9070 XT) to go up in price soon.

    Which is why I bought a 9070 XT a week ago at $1049… 🙄

    • 5070 ti is EOL'd already.

      • +3

The AI bubble can't burst soon enough

      • +2

Effectively EOL, though Nvidia don't want to admit it..

  • ATL $944 as well at christmas for the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070XT Triple fan:

    https://allneeds.com.au/xfx-swift-amd-radeon-rx-9070xt-tripl…

Not sure if they have anymore stock left.

  • How many Tokens Per Second - I mean FPS can I get?

  • +4
  • XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Non Mag-Air is currently at
$1099 (down from $1309) on Scorptec if anyone want to folk out a bit more for better thermal.

I wanted to get 5070 ti but currently they go above $1400 which is a no brainer choice for 9070xt.

    • Why not get the red devil for 1044?

      • +1

Mercury have the best cooling based on other testing and only 50 more so I went with it.

        • Yeah I didn't realise the Mercury is in the 340W class of cards.

      • Agree. Great price for a red devil

  • +5

Welp splurged on a Powercolor waifu edition just to get the notification the interest rates went up. May she soothe the soul.

    • Yep me too, looks like im not going out for a while

      • +1

Gotta spin it in a good way. New GPU = more playing at home = less money spent going out? Damn this GPU is literally making money.

        • less fossil fuels burnt, less sun damage to skin, training hand eye coordination…

          win mofo'ing win!

  • Good upgrade form 3080? Or better to go for a 5070ti for a bit more?

    • -2

If you want DLSS goodness, 5070, otherwise, for general rasterization game, this is good enough.

    • +1

It's $318 more. Even if you place a high value on the nvidia feature set, this is still far better value.

      • Funnily, I considered the 5070ti due to its power efficiency. The difference would add up to between $50 and $100 a year depending on usage. But AMD fixed some software things and power usage gap is closer to $20-40 a year now depending on usage.

  • I bought one. Was planning on waiting till there was a proper high end AMD GPU, but rumours currently place the next gen at mid 2027. Couldn’t wait.

  • Sweet, $85 cheaper than I picked one up for 4 days ago :(

  • +1

My 3070ti will hold another 2 years, I believe

  • How does the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Challenger 16GB compare? It's the same price

  • Mine just got delivered, super quick!

  • +2

pulled the trigger. Seems the 3070 - 9070xt pathway is common.

    • are you keeping your current set up? Thinking of doing the same (currently have a 5700xt) and then slowly upgrading the rest of the system once ram cools down

      • +1

Yeah. I've got a z490 MSI mag w/10700kf & 32gb 3600hz. While I will be losing some GPU performance with the PCIe 3.0 motherboard all my research indicates it's a minimal loss. I don't quite have the money for an amd 9800 cpu, 870? mobo and 64gb of gaming ram at the moment. And probably a new power supply to run it all.

Plus it frees up my 3070 as a gift for a friends kid's 18th birthday.

        • Well unless you need the extra lanes.. b850 is more than enough.. for whenever you do plan on upgrading..

        • +2

Hi it’s your friends kid. I’ve moved. Can you send the 3070 to my new address?

          42 wallaby way Sydney.

      • +1

upgraded one of my systems to this from that card. at this price it's 100% worth it.

        • Yea pulled the trigger last night - I've got a 5800x3d so it should do well with this at 1440P for a couple more years.

  • Looks like the sale has been magically extended until 11pm tomorrow 5/2. It was supposed to end at 9am today 4/2.

    • +4

earlier today i saw a countdown timer next to it finishing at 11:30PM tomorrow 5/2, so they changed it like 3 times

    • the ol fake deadline to push sales….

      • +1

the price is good so who cares

  • Have any orders been shipped? Reading through the comments, it looks like unco received theirs. My order is still sitting in as "Order in Progress". They messed up the stock levels with my other order (over $2k) and I've had no response from customer support for 2 days. Maybe a little less focus on never-ending sales (there's another 15% off selected items tonight), and more on customer service responses / getting items out the door. Reading online reviews doesn't give me a lot of confidence. First time I've purchased through them, perhaps the last (they messed up and are in no hurry to make good).I just hope I'm wrong.
