Hey Oz Bargain Community,

Heads up that one of my mini novels will follow this paragraph, so if you're flat chat please feel welcome to skip to the deal details and links below in bold :)

This is a super special deal to celebrate and thank you so immensely for your truly wonderful support which has enabled up to achieve what I think is a monumental milestone of 100,000+ orders, we've been waiting close to a couple of months for our special Milestone trophy from Shopify, to arrive from the U.S. and it's only just arrived, so in turn this deal launches. As the expression goes you need to "fuel the beast" so the more things hopefully continue to progress for Lime Blue Coffee, the more and more things need to continue to progress to keep the lights on. As such, although I so so happy we've achieved this goal, as you'll see from the below journey mindset, we haven't "made it," in fact the opposite is true, there's a tremendous amount of more work than ever, which we need to dig in and excel at. This challenge is a challenge that I'm embracing and am also so excited about, as I do love a challenge. Please know no customer or bean will ever be taken for granted by Lime Blue Coffee and I'll continue to move forward with the "I'm all in" mentality I started Lime Blue Coffee with; I'll keep reinvesting and putting in the work, which is the approach I've taken to get to this point and it's the continued approach that I sincerely believe is the absolute best path forward to make the Lime Blue Coffee of tomorrow even better than the Lime Blue Coffee of today :)

Let me take you on the a journey of where we started and the mindset that enabled us to get to where we are today. We were in the midst of the COVID saga, like everyone I had (and still do, also like everyone) financial obligations, finances were tight and quickly heading in the wrong direction dwindling before my eyes. However, ten simply words I was once asked to write down stuck with me, "if it is to be, it is up to me." The relatively small amount I had saved wouldn't have covered my financial obligations, so I knew the only positive path forward was to roll the dice and do whatever I could to increase my savings. With more time than money on hand and an idea I'd wanted to pursue in the I'm had in the back of my mind since even before COVID started, I decided to risk ~$1,440 (which was a small fortune to me, as there was no back up plan if I lost it AKA there was no extra to give it another shot) and start Lime Blue Coffee. My philosophy is to either succeed or learn, so I was mentally all in doing anything and everything possible to swim out of the financial hole closing in bit by bit, for the vast majority of the last few years I've pulled 100+ hour weeks and on reflection loved every second of it, both the good and learning moments. I haven't done a 100 hour week yet this year, but we're early into the year and I'm still super focused and more than happy to put in the work; last Wednesday I started at 3am and left our roastery around 10pm, this morning was another 3am start, so please don't think this milestone deal post means I'm going to take my foot off the peddle, the opposite is in fact true. There were some really tough times (well at least for me they were in the moment) along the way (and I'm sure they'll be many more in the future), as I initially thought if I achieve x then all will be well, no more problems and smooth sailing ahead. Then I'd achieve x, yesterday's problems would be handled, but I'd get hit with a whole new set of "today and tomorrow problems" unexpectedly and I'd be scratching my head thinking, but what about my plan of achieve x and all being well. After this cycle happened time and time again, I knew something had to change in my mindset as it simply wasn't a sustainable mindset to keep being so naive to think solving yesterday provides any help to today and tomorrow, while continuing to ride the roller coaster that is business without falling off and failing instead of learning. Once I had this epiphany, I thought I had two choices, either close down Lime Blue Coffee or change my mindset. I thought long and hard to find a sustainable way to change my mindset. This resulted in my mindset changing from achieve goals solves problems to it's normal for a dozens of things to go wrong every day and the best path forward is to embrace adversity by jumping into resolution mode as fast as possible, rather than wasting time on lingering on thoughts that there's a problem. As Mum says "you're either part of the problem or part of the solution." I think not expecting problems is similar to most people's fear of the unknown. It's like walking down a quiet, dark alley alone and suddenly hearing a bin fall and thinking was it the wind, is someone there to rob me, is it a cat… whereas it you knew someone was there to rob you you'd be far less concerned than not knowing what caused the bin to fall. I've tried to do the same with problems, although I don't know the problems each day will bring I wake up realistically (not pessimistically) thinking "today things are going to go wrong, but that's how it's meant to be and there's no peaks without valleys so the best path forward is to focus on the positive solution." Somehow that outlook of planning for the worst and being happily surprised by the best is such an uplifting and positive feeling compared to my prior daily thought process of planning for the best and being surprise by the worst. With this can do mindset firmly in place I'm so excited for you to experience some of the amazing plans (well at least I think they are) we have in store for you in 2026 and beyond. Enough rambling from me, it's time to get this coffee party started!

  • Congrats. Perfect timing to try Brazil single origin :)

@LimeBlueCoffee, I’m new to freezing and defrosting coffee beans and would appreciate your advice. Could you recommend the best method or point me to an article? I’ve ordered 500g of the three blends in this deal to try. Should I just put the packaged bag in the freezer? What’s the defrosting process like?

    Thanks.

    • +5

step 1 - put excess beans in freezer
step 2 - take beans out of freezer the night before you plan on using them

      • +1

I literally just pull the beans out of freezer and put them in grinder. It goes to 20 degrees once ground (due to friction I assume) and freezer is -18.

    • +3

Can put the package straight into the freezer. I get 1kg bags so I often split them into swing-top jars (fully sealed) to pull out as desired. I then thaw them with the lid closed and then open when at room temp.

      • Out of curiosity, what size jars do you use?

    • +3

Hey @sigma thank you so much for the support and fantastic combo order, which is sincerely appreciated!

You've already got some very helpful info from the Oz Bargain Community, thanks everyone for the answer assist, but here's a bit more info. There's a few methods depending on how much effort you'd like to put into your freezing system. I think the happy medium between efforts and results is to pre-portion your coffee into fortnightly doses, then wait 7-10 days from the roast date before putting them in your freezer. When you're ready to get stuck in you can either use the coffee straight away or let it defrost to room temperature first :)

  • @LimeBlueCoffee I'm sure this has been asked many times, wondering how long I can store 1kg bags for (not freezing). I use my beans in 2 ways.

    1. Full automatic machine
    2. Grind them up for Moka Pot.

I was thinking of buying 4 x 1kg bags but wasnt sure about storing.

    Thanks in advance.

    • +1

It really comes down to personal taste. Some people reckon coffee is best enjoyed within a month, while others are perfectly happy brewing beans that are six months old.

For storage, a vacuum-sealed canister like an Airscape helps keep the beans fresher for longer.

      • +1

@AnKu is right, to each their own, different strokes different folks :)

@oxblood8 questions are always most welcome!

From my personal perspective I think it's best to enjoy coffee within about a month of the roast date when stored at room temperature. If you think it'll take you much longer to get through then I'd recommend freezing to maintain freshness by reducing the oxidation rate, I'm guessing you don't plan on freezing based on your comment, but thought it couldn't hurt to mention it. Much beyond a month from the roast date when stored at room temp the coffee will begin to oxidise more rapidly and the fresh flavours will start to go stale, that said roasted coffee is shelf stable, so although a coffee bean a year old may not taste it's best, it shouldn't make you sick.

All these bearded hipster cafes charging $70+ per kilo for inferior coffee but with fancy names.

Lime has always been consistent and at great prices. Congrats on success, ordered another batch!

    • Hey @tightm8 I'm so wrapped to know we're firmly in your good book, I promise we won't take that for granted and we'll keep working as hard as we can to stay there!!!

Thank you so much for another fantastic order, that uplifting vote of confidence, congrats and overall continued support, all of your positivity really does make a difference :)

  • Im guessing if I get the 500g Moments to memories + Feee bag of SO, I can change the quantity to say 4x and all of them will get the free bag? So 4kg of beans all up?

    • +2

Hey @Puffdragon always better to ask than wonder!

Always love a question and answer all wrapped up in one nice comment, which is what you've done, you're spot on, if you order 4x500g Moments via this year you'll receive 4x500g Single Origins, so 4kg of fresh, delicious coffee in total :)

  • Ordered. Another great deal - thanks Op!

    • How amazing, thank you so much for another fantastic order @jason2615 it's really does mean a lot to us!!!

I'm really wrapped to know our deal's a real winner for you :)

I got Nectar of the God blend and a few other beans during the last sale, and they arrived around this week when my previous beans ran out. The previous beans were Aldi Reserve Ethiopia, which were also decent (personally, I think Ethiopia beans are hard to mess up). But Nectar of the God is truly clean and even tastier! The acidity is great, and the clean sweetness without any off-flavors is superb. In South Korea, there were many specialty roasters provide beans at reasonable prices, so I had plenty of choices. After moving to Australia, I was still searching for a good roaster, so I'm thrilled to have found a roaster that offers great value and high quality.

This is a suggestion. It's great to see your passion for coffee and business. How about starting a blog so more people can see and read your passion? You could leave a link here with a little preview…

  • You’re on of the nicest a most positive store reps on OzBargain, love your passion for coffee and community, love the coffee you roast and love to see you succeed! Congrats!

WOW @poppingtags what a wonderfully uplifting, complimentary, vote of confidence, huge smile on this side of the screen :) :) :)

  • Shit I ordered 2 days ago…how good is it we can delay the despatch!!

    • Shucks @Captain Yobbo saved by our unique delayed/scheduled dispatch feature!

You're also welcome to utilise our custom post purchase editing tech if your order hasn't been dispatched. Even without those two features in place, we get full priced orders every single day, so if it's of any comfort there's others who've rode the full priced train with you and hopefully pricing levels nicely for you on average between regular and sales prices over time :)

Hey Lime Blue you may want to double check that you are legally compliant with your gift cards expiring in 6 months. Saying as a caring repeat customer.

    • +1

Hey @MakeBread WOW how genuinely thoughtful of you, thank you so much for taking the time to watch out back in case we inadvertently do something to get ourselves in strife!

You are correct that the general requirements for gift cards is 3 years. However, when a gift card is sold at a discount (ours are sold at a 5% discount e.g. spend $95 and receive a $100 gift card) there is no expiry requirement. With out gift card discounts we're essentially passing on our admin savings to our customers, instead of us paying extra Accounting fees associated with keeping gift cards as a liability on our balance sheet over multiple financial years and then needing to move from there to our P&L once the gift cards are realised/used :)

      • +1

Sounds like your all over it. Keep the good brews coming!

        • Far from perfect, so appreciate the help keeping me on my toes, so I can focus the rest of my time on keeping the "good brews" coming :)

  • Confirmation #57HCR8MXU

1st order and can't wait to try it. Thanks for the great offer. I hope the order comes with info cards on the blends.

Any tips on which blend is better for Aeropress (black) and which for espresso (black or milk)?

    • Hey @Tofu Titan how wonderful to hear you've placed your first terrific order with us, thank you so much, I promise it's an opportunity we won't take for granted!

If you have any queries about your specific please feel welcome to send a reply email to your order confirmation prior to dispatch or a reply email to your tracking info email post dispatch. The emails you'll be replying to will have a 6 digit number beginning with #1. I just thought it worth mentioning this as the confirmation you've mentioned appears to be a PayPal payment confirmation rather than an order number and they system does allow us to search via payment gateway transaction numbers.

Wrapped to know this deal's a real winner for you and that's you're looking forward to enjoying our fresh coffee. Great hope and you'll be happy to know every single bag we send out has brewing guide attached.

There's a number of options that come to mind, as such it really depends on your personal flavour preferences, if you have the time to answer the below I should be able to point you in the best direction :)

      1) Do you have a preference for chocolate, caramel, fruity or a combination of coffee flavour notes?
      2) Do you prefer a low, medium or high acidity kick?

      • Thanks for the reply and glad to hear you found my order :)

We prefer the chocolate notes and lower acidity that a typical Brazilian coffee has although we have enjoyed the occasional Honduran one which had a brighter note too.

  • Which beans would you recommend for me, I use moka pot poured over ice for iced long black.
I think I would to try the fruity Guatemala but perhaps the lighter roast is not suited for the moka pot?

    • Hey @Amac wow that's a new one, never heard of someone having an iced long black via Moka Pot, kudos to you for taking a walk on the wild side and trying something new, what inspired that coffee routine for you?

If you can answer the below I should be hopefully able to point you in the right direction :)

!) Preference for chocolate, caramel, fruity or a combo of coffee flavours?
      2) Preference for a low, medium or high acidity kick?

      • Haha well I use to use a plunger and swapped to the moka pot a year ago. It has a bit more stronger flavour than plunger.
Re the flavours I'm not sure, I think most coffees I've had chocolate and caramel are more common so maybe a combination of flavours (inc fruit) and medium acidity. I have had some fruity pour overs though and they were delicious. Thanks

  • Ordered! Thanks OP. Wonderful reading your story and all your heartfelt replies to the above comments. You clearly lovely what you do! Can't wait to try your beans!

    • How amazing @Adam22 thank you so sincerely for placing your first terrific order with us and sharing such an immensely uplifting complement, it really does mean a tremendous amount!!!

You're 100% right, I do love what I do, so I'll ensure I keep working hard to make every moment count towards creating an even Lime Blue Coffee experience tomorrow. I'm excited that you're excited to try our fresh coffee, fingers crossed you love it :)

  • I have just ordered my first coffee machine that grinds its own beans.

What would be a good starter pack? Approx 20-30 cups per week in the family.

    Cheers

    • Hey @31mop I'm so excited for you, big congrats on the new setup and a big step forward to a wonderful coffee making experience at home!!!

To clarify are you seeking a coffee type recommendation or a coffee quantity recommendation?

      • Both! Happy for you to suggest something and I’ll give it a crack @LimeBlueCoffee

        • Didn’t hear back from you @LimeBlueCoffee so I just ordered a couple random things.

          • @31mop: Hey @31mop apologies for the slight raio silence, didn't forget you just been a bit of a hectic week :)

How wonderful to know you've placed your first order with us, thank you so much, I promise it's an opportunity we won't take for granted!

If you're happy to roll the dice on what you've picked then let's roll eith that, but if you'd like some recommendations your order can easily be edited prior to dispatch via our post purchase custom editing tech. Few follow up questions so I can hopefully point you in the right direction :)

            1) What make and model is your new machine/grinder?
            2) Coffee enjoyed black, white or both?
            3) What coffee flavours does your house lean towards, chocolate, caramel fruity or a combo?
            4) Preference for a low, medium or high acidity kick?

            • @LimeBlueCoffee: I’ll just roll with this. It gets dispatched in the morning anyway

  • Which of the two single origins is your personal favourite Tom?
