Currently building a new PC and jumped on to check storage through the Samsung Government portal. Price was at $169.15 for a 1TB. I was chasing a 2TB but still I am very happy at this price. Hopefully you can find the same price through the education store or other affiliates. I did get an additional 10% off (First order 5% and code through chat 5%). Total price for 2 was $305.33 ($152.16 each for me )

Back in stock on the edu and government epp

Hopefully you can find the same price through the education store

$169.15 in the Samsung EDU store.

    • Sorry, they have added another 5% of my order here - not sure why as i have bought from here before. I also received a 5% code through chat. I will update the price to $169 if that is what most is getting

      • +4

Samsung EDU has the same but only for first purchase.

Extra 5% off your first purchase!

  • In 2023 these Samsung 1TB 990 Pro sold for $55 :)

    • I know - prices are going up. It's the Ram price that killed me. I suspect that storage is going to increase in price like Ram - well it has already started

    • +12

ok, i'll just hop in my time machine and grab a couple

      • +1

Over the history of PC parts Storage and SSD prices have always come down over time.
RAM prices have always been up and down…
i guess things have changed now with SSD's joining the up and down pricing of RAM

Ah, how could I miss that.

        • +2

The big 3 (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) are busy making HBM so they couldn't be bothered making DDR5 RAM, and NAND flash. The other 2 major NAND flash makers (I won't name them) are cashing in on the situation, rather than increase production.

I was watching the trends and waiting for fast M2 to hit $50/TB on average before upgrading. Foolish me.

    • that was a pricing error, with some orders honoured but many cancelled

      • that was a pricing error .. NO .. it was not a pricing error, … the first few orders were canceled but after 30 mins amazon UK started allowing orders.. it lasted a few hours and sold out… :) i missed out because i didnt need ram and thought about it too long… ended up buying 2 Samsung 980 Pro 1TB drives a few days later for $65 each

      Such a silly post.

It's still a deal for the price now, comparing the price to 2 years ago is a useless exercise.

      • comparing the price to 2 years ago is a useless exercise

Who said it was an exercise or meant to have a real point lol ;)

But I agree with the sentiment, Over the history of PC parts Storage and SSD prices have always come down over time. - "back in my day" (lol) practically anything computer related would always come down in price as the new generations came in.

  • Damn, could have waited, I bought 2x of them from Amazon UK via Amazon AU. Anyway to return those?

    • +1

I bought 2 sticks a couple of days ago at $238 from amazon. I have just generated a return label for change of mind - selecting 'found a better price"

      • Yours from Amazon AU retailer or the overseas Amazon UK on the Amazon AU?

        • Just checked - it was Amazon UK

          • @tnarg: Cool I supposed I will do it when it arrived then…

            • +1

@cloudie9: Lol - mine hasn't arrived yet - i just started the process

    • Amazon are fantastic for returns. Your refund will likely be minus the shipping thoughnfor international change of mind.

      • +1

I've checked, $7 for shipping refund. So its not bad for the grand scheme of things.

        • Just cycle through the options, one of them should be free.

Edit: just saw that it's UK, I'm not longer sure that's the case then. Definitely is possible with local Amazon though.

  • Also how do you get the extra 5% through chat? What did you say?

    • While i was there i just sent them a IMEI screenshot of my Flip 7. They just want to know if you have a Samsung product already

      • Gotcha.

      • +1

Or find a random picture of Samsung product's IMEI. My friend said that worked for him too 🤣

Cheers OP. Was after a 2TB for a while, but this will suffice.
Depressing that this is now considered "cheap" in the current climate.

    • I'm going to keep checking every couple of days and hope to see the 4TB go on special. Interestingly they have removed the 1TB from the normal site

      • 4TB seems to be pretty cheap atm? $483.65

        • I haven't seen 4TB 990pro at that price that is available right now. Historically yes

          • @tnarg: It is in the Education Portal right now.

            • @AmperSand: Dam - I want that. It isn't available in the Government EPP. You should post that deal. I wonder if i can create an account through my daughters highschool email address

        • +1

Just got this for $459.47 Had 5% off in my cart because of first purchase. Cheers for pointing it out

  • Just checked 9100 Pro 1TB, almost $400 from supplier :(

  • Having trouble adding it to my cart. Is it just me or its oos already?

    • I'll log in and check: Maybe out of stock - I am now getting an error

    • Looks like OOS.

  • this is absolutely insane, i think i got a 2TB for that price. glad i got some 4tb 990 pro's when they were last under $100 per tb…

    • +2

In the current climate, this is the best price you can grab I supposed.

      • yeh no shade on the hunting… this is just an entirely ridiculous market. retail consumers should just walk entirely…

        • +1

Yep it is not pretty out there - this was my final component to buy. This was my final price and build:

          CPU AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 600
          Memory DDR5 - 64GB (2x32GB) CL30 Trident Z5 Neo RGB 6000Mhz 650
GPU PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB -White 1099
MotherBoard MSI MPG B850 Edge TI WIFI 395
Cooler Asus RyuJun III Extreme 360 White 350
          Case NZXT H7 Flow 100
Power Corsair RM850e 850W Cybenetics Gold Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power 163
          SSD Samsunng 990 pro 1TB 152
Paste Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g Thermal Paste 13

          Total 3522

          • @tnarg: $3500 for that build is just insane to me, I got a Ryzen 9 / 3060Ti / 96GB / 2TB for around $2000 few years back. Dreading the day when something inevitably needs an upgrade :/

  • holy shit what a price

    • -3

You didn't get this one (the ATL) back in 2023?

Samsung 990 PRO 1TB M.2 SSD $55.92 Delivered @ Amazon UK via AU

      • If we can turn back in time…

    • If you think this price is good, then honestly, it is a FOMO because:

      • You are already compromising on 1TB SSD.
      • Flagship PCIe gen 4 SSDs are known to be better optimised for 2TB.
      • For 990 Pro, the 4TB version, newer batches have another advantage.

Anyway, it's just not worthwhile to FOMO on an SSD at the moment.

      • newer batches have another advantage

        What advantage?

  • Any 2TB ones available?

    • Just 1tb and 4tb.

  • got the 4tb instead for $435. Thanks.

    • i would have got the 4tb but i don't have access to the edu site only gov EPP - booo

    • 4tb sold out now

  • Of course, both 1TB and 4TB are back in stock on the edu store now the sale has ended..

    • Was still showing as $459 for 4TB for me, so ended up ordering one while they are in stock despite ordering a 1TB yesterday

  • Anyone know if you can still ask for the 5% loyalty voucher from the old deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/938796

    • +1

Yes - did it today with a colleague

  • +1
