    What a bargain!

  • So will they also offer the two sets of glasses for $199? Or is that offer clouded from this deal?

    • Any two pairs for $149 or above.

  • -2

So which offer is better? 199$ for 2 or this? How much polarised costs usually, if i use this offer for 2 not so bad sunglasses it costs me 249$ with one free polarised

    • +7

      $ goes before the number.

      • +1

        $ comes before

    • You get two pairs for $149 and with free polarised in the sunnies.

      • +2

        I think it's from 149, not for 149

        • Yes thats what I meant. From 149 and above.

Just be aware that polarised glasses dont play well with HUD displays in cars

    • And with train platform screens

    • +2

But I’d still be able to see any fish that were on my HUD display right?

      • +1

Well if your drove the car off a fishing pier into the water….edit…actually that would be incorrect. Car would have to be teetering over the edge of the pier so you could have a clear view of the water and then you would see all the fish with the polarised lens

    • Learned that yesterday hahaha

    • Just turn your head sideways

      • could actually explain the sore neck, as Ive noticed I had to angle my head a bit too see the hud when driving with the polarised glasses….

  • what's the difference in normal sun glasses vs polarized? specsavers do both of them in prescription?

    • +3

Polarized reduces glare, great for driving, water activities. Personally I would never get non polarized.

  • Whats the polarisation worth as an extra?

    • +1

      Clicked the link

Say goodbye to glare with free polarised lenses in your second pair when you purchase two pairs from the $149 range or above. That’s a saving of $100! T&Cs apply.

polarisation also often not great for snow skiing and some detail in terrain eg mountain biking

  • For the cost of 4 pairs, i could fly oversees and come back with 20 excellent pairs.

Lots of random comments above, but I'll give a rundown of what we do as we have private health with Medibank. Applies for a few other major providers as well.

Depending on your glasses coverage you'll likely be entitled to 2 pairs, no gap at either $199 or $249 already.

So you can get a pair of sunnies and a pair of normal glasses + get the polarisation. If you get no other extras you'll pay nothing out of pocket and get both sets.

I normally get an anti glare reduction on the glasses which costs me about $30 or $40 out of pocket.

They do this deal about the same time every year so you can rinse and repeat getting a new set each year even if your prescription hasn't changed.

My wife does the same each year and we can also pick up a couple pairs for our kids (who don't need prescriptions) as part of it as well.

Don't get me wrong PHI is still a rort, but as least we're getting something substantial in this case.

    • We do the same every year .

Medibank live better rewards are also good to use if you have some points. They get you $20 or $50 off at specsavers. Last year I didn't have to pay out of pocket for drivewear lens. It was a bit confusing though, because when they ran the quote it said I have to pay $50 (when I redeemed the offer in the app already). The guy working there didn't know why; but once he actually did the claim on the machine it came up as $0 out of pocket.

    • Lucky you, being able to use standard lenses.

I do the same thing, but get a single pair instead. Every other year is sunnies, this year is standards.

Even though they do 2 for $199, you can get 1 for $125 or something, not as good a deal, but when you need to get the double thinned lenses due to high script, might as well get anti-glare, and you like the auto-darkening lenses (that are no competition to sunnies but make things easier..). Still comes out to $375 for a single pair, but PHI covers all but $75. Much cheaper than the $199+2x$88+2x$56+1x$90 (~$577 - $300 = $277) last year's 2x glasses would've cost, or the $600 from OPSM for a single pair.

Looked into getting them from the cheap online stores, but the only ones that were worth it were not recognised by PHI and resulted in a higher out of pocket charge.

Still not worth the PHI cost.
