  • I tried their Roosevelt blend last year and found it disappointing.

    • +9

Yeah, sometimes the barista has a lot to do with being disappointing, and blames the coffee.

      Level Up JV ☺️

      • -5

Except that other coffees I buy taste a lot better… ☺️

    • I find their downtown on par with Aldi

    • +1

I tend to buy their filter and the last two 500g bags and two of the three special releases I've received have all been disappointing. Will looking for different roasters in the future.

    • Because you dialled in with Optus.

  • +4

It is still $35 for a kg plus delivery. I just ordered 3kg at Sicilia for $61 delivered.

    • +1

      Sicilia any good?

    • 3kg of Italian Blend? I don't see an option for free shipping, or did I miss a deal?

      • +6

Use code THANKS10 or CHEERS10 that makes it nearly free shipping.

        • 🙏

        • not working "Enter a valid discount code or gift card"

        • Legend … got a dozen 250g samplers for $25/kg delivered

      • +2

Yes, Italian Blend is the most consistent and best imo.

        • Haven't had sicilia coffee before, is the italian blend good with milk?

  • +1

Pretty sure I've already got enough Lime Blue orders to see me through until October lol.

    • How about you respect the beans?

      • +2

I've got Lime Blue beans in a freezer from last year. They are still mint.. Slow down decomposition reactions with cold…good to go.

      • Oh, these are from orders in advance. I will probably end up with about 5 bags in the freezer come July.

  • Downtown normally good if you like a medium dark roast

  • +1

Rock solid coffee but I’m still getting cheaper through their subscription

  • +1

Always wonder how much more tastier these coffees are vs. Aldi Medium Roast. Worth the premium?

    • I've had both and often return to ALDI just for the price, but I have thoroughly enjoyed Inglewood roasts. If I had a suitable place for long term storage, I'd probably return to them more often. 500g bags are not very economical

      • +1

        freeze them
        and/or
vacuum seal steel container $10 off aliexpress

        • food safe silica packets to absorb moisture
        • Decomposition of beans gives off gas. Freeze to slow down, and pressurise in CO2 for ultimate long term storage. The vac seal doesn't really make sense.

          • +1

@tunzafun001: its not a vacuum chamber or or vacuum bag type of thing

just a cheap container with a lid to pump the air out with a few squeezes. offering the simplest lowest effort alternative to a jar or regular container full of air

i freeze my beans and unfreeze the night before i need a fresh batch. using 20-25% at a time for example
but theres a bit of condensation, so thats what the silica packets are for

then for the 20% ive unfrozen they sit inside the vacuum container. i get what ur saying regarding the CO2 if it were for the remaining 80% in longer term storage
just realised i can use my soda stream for CO2, so not a bad idea

            • @furythree: So you seal them with a food grade silica packet, then unfreeze them whilst remaining sealed, then open up and grind?

        • Unfortunately, freezer not large enough. Do use a Breville/Airscape containers which do help, but ultimately the beans will go stale before I'd finished a kilo

      • Ditto. ALDI beans are great for the price

    • I think they are both pretty close location wise and probably roast the same beans. Both about the same according to my taste buds, and both pretty good. Comparing Sunset and Downtown to Aldi Medium and Brazilian. Lime Blue SO Brazilian had an edge for me. But no two bags are the same. Had a pretty good Sunset in there.

      • they are both pretty close location wise and probably roast the same beans

For 70/18 = 3.89 times the price. Ok?

        • Economies of scale. Support your local if you can I guess.

But yeah..hence the need for a 50% discount I guess.

    • +3

I'm no mega snob with a $5k grinder or anything but can definitely taste the difference between aldi and "good" beans.

Saying that though, the Aldi beans are great for everyday coffees. I save the better stuff for a treat and need to look into better storage options.

    • I stop pretty early on the diminishing returns curve.

I find Aldi/Airjo/LimeBlue/etc are totally fine. IMHO Inglewood is noticeably nicer, and I'll buy it on sale but in terms of my personal value for money, I don't care enough to pay the usual $70/kg.

      • I find LimeBlue a cut above Aldo/Airjo etc.

  • +1

VIC delivery used to be $0 then $2 then $6 then now it's $8.5

    • +1

Is that Australia Post jacking their prices though? Gotta pay for the Cartier watches somehow.

    • Shipping has really gone up unfortunately which is a shame.

  • 2kg doesn't get me over the free shipping threshold.
Ended up buying from drip roaster instead.

  • -6

$35 for a bag of coffee is 50% off? More likely the real value of it.
Never in my life (16 years) have I paid that much for 1Kg of coffee. ($70) - Wow.

    • +1

16 years of buying coffee or 16 years of life?

      • Both. He started early

    • +1

It doesn't seem like all that long ago I was buying great beans for $35 per kg. Maybe 5 years ago? The price increase has been insane.

    • Exactly what I came down here to say. Obvious sales and marketing tactic akin to the dubious "RRP" often seen on discounts… This coffee is lucky to be on par with Aldi dark roast, definitely not 4x better!

I wonder who is down voting your comment … 🤔

  • Shipping ($0 for $70 Spend) would be nice :P

  • Also the 50% off discount does not stack with using your points for a $10/$20/$30 discount.
Found that out the hard way, haha

    • The points is absolutely a waste. I once claimed the $30 from points only to have to use it on a full price bag. $70 rrp - $30 is still $40. These 50% deals work out better.

      • Points are only good on equipment imo

  • normally $70/kg for a coffee I've never tried - where do I sign !?

  • Is this part of inglewood coffee https://www.vintagecoffeemerchants.com.au i have ordered from this site but has yet to receive the beans since 1st of February.

    • That looks like the fakest website I've ever seen. No store location. No ABN. No contact details. You might want to double check to see if they gave you any contact details. Their terms and condition page is generic and they forgot to fill in the details.
