Popularity here definitely dropped off years ago, there was a while where everyone here and whirlpool were going nuts for the expressi machines from aldi too

Low dose ones are available. I saw some high dose ones a few years being used by bio-hackers but I donāt think they were commercially available.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: Let us know if you decide to try it. From memory the low dose was meant to help with eye fatigue and puffiness around the eyes.

It's just too much work for a manual machine. They always end up on Facebook marketplace at a significant discount because people can't be bothered to live the barista life.
A Nespresso machine will always be good because it's no longer patented, and people actually use it even if the pods are more expensive. It's in a sweet spot between convenience and quality.

I have seen these in store. They look and feel like a toy.
Picked up this evening I'm several coffees deep and won't be sleeping till 3am at this point. For 39.50 I'm satisfied, froths milk great with the heat dispenser removed didn't try it without removed. Tried two different beans. First batches was after a tedious cleaning process and it was bitter, but I suspect machine was hot from several cleaning runs, from 1/3 vinegar and water, then again half a plain tank. and also that bean is prone to bitterness and better for cold brew. Tried an an aldi south Americans blend and come out great. Only flaw I have so far is the actual portafilter, has a filter that comnects to a plastic housing at the bottom of the portafilter. I removed it with the screw and then it comes straight down through the screw hole and not the Other 2 holes it's supposed to come from due to it being a pressurized basket and directing in the centre. I may buy a non pressurized basket and cap the screw hole with a stainless screw, cut with bolt cutters and a tight fit it should be fine. I'm not sure of the basket size to match the portafilter, if anyone knows that would be great. Definitely think it's quite a bargain… Beats my mocha pot and froths milk easily…
