Lost my favorite snack and drink

If only the os is steamdeck….

    • +1

Theoretically might be possible one day, as Valve are porting SteamOS to ARM Snapdragon for the Frame, including adding a compatibility layer for Windows games.
      But for now, certainly not.

Consider Odin 2 Portal over this.

    • Worth A$100 more? I only have anbernic Linux retro handheld before. Not sure about android

      • +2

I think it's worth the $72 more but don't expect it to ship any time soon. Orders from last Thursday still have not been shipped.

        • Thats the problem worrying me, otherwise already put my order in, they must have over sold and waiting for stocks to fulfil orders

      • Much better chip, can run some pc games using Gamehub lite/gamenative

The short answer is it's +$100 to play Switch and a handful of indie PC games.

All these devices are grouped into basically 4 buckets.

Budget (allwinner/misc chips): Plays upto PS1 usually, handful of DC/64.
Mid (Snap 865): Plays upto PS2 usually, with some 2D Switch/indie PC. Mostly requires local streaming.
High (Snap G2 Gen2/G3x Gen 3): Plays up to Switch/Indie and some moderate PC.
Ultra (Snap 8Elite): Easily handles Switch, can play quite a decent amount of PC, even some AAA, at 1080p (often still low/med settings).

There's some variance, like some MediaTek chips and what not, but that's basically the bulk of it.

Every device in these groups performs virtually identical, it's so repetitive, if you watch like 3 YT vids, you've seen literally every single review.

Retroid Pocket 5/6 is also another alternative, just with a smaller screen.

      • How about G2? Don't mind a little bit smaller 5.5" screen and size more compact.

Still waiting on my shipping confirmation. The AYN discord is a madhouse

    • What about the steam deck when it's on sale for $500ish?

      • Much bigger form factor and double the price

        • +1

Also that 500 deck is 60hz LCD. This is 144hz oled

      • Steamdeck let's you play PC games without farting around.

    Too expensive for sd 865.

    • +1

Agreed. Maybe if it was released last year it would be a contender, but now there's better options.

  • +1

Go with Odin 2 portal over this. Also I know it's a completely different device but I got a retroid pocket G2 for $280 delivered to my door.

    • From AliExpress or ?

      • +2

Yep managed to get a coupon to work and stack with cashback!

Seems like coupons are hard to get to work with the direct retroid store though. I have tried again on on an RP classic and couldn't get them to work.

  • Has anyone actually had their order shipped yet? I fear the same sorta situation has happened here as with the Ayn. Oversold and will be delayed.

    • Thats why I won't order anything when its close to CNY, most factories they finishing off earlier and let all their staffs heading home for holiday to see their families & celebrate, hence everything will slow down quickly, I guess normal shipping won't be back to speed at least 2 weeks after CNY

      • Yeah i don't either usually but since it said in the post the early orders were being shipped out within 24-48 hours i thought that maybe I could've gotten lucky.

It's a gift anyways i already have a steamdeck, rp5 and rg556 amongst like 15 other handhelds after selling off more then 20 in the last two months of last year. Still gotta sell more this year too.

        • I m thinking of getting the RP5, most reviews said its good, how's your experience with it, can play Switch or Wii no problem?

          • @kaikor: Not really, it requires tinkering but is better at playing switch and wii compared to the rg556. For the price difference now you maybe able to get it around the $380 ish mark for the rp6 where as the rp5 is around the $300 to $320 mark or the g2 is inbetween for around $340. Like I've said in previous posts just bookmark them on aliexpress and wait. I managed to get my rp5 around $270 during one of the sales last year.

      • Funnily enough it got marked as shipped as of 11pm tonight. According to my Parcels App tracking info it's estimated delivery is between 4-8 March which is close to between 3 to 4 weeks away.
