AliExpress Local+

AliExpress have now made it easier to identify products located in Australia with the Local+ banner. These products ship from Australia, often from Amazon via MFC and will not incur a GST charge at checkout.

Coupon error codes explained:

Congrats on reading this far. Here's the reason the codes aren't applying (hint: set to USD as said countless times)

Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount

GST and shipping are not included in the minimum spend and some items in your cart may be ineligible for the promotion. AUD amounts are estimates and may fluctuate due to exchange rate changes, while USD amounts do not fluctuate. To avoid issues consider switching your currency to USD and ensure the minimum spend is met before applying the code.

This coupon code can’t be used in combination with other discounts

This means the item is already discounted, excluded from the promotion or a new user “welcome deal” is being applied which prevents additional coupons from being used.

Sorry, the coupon code you entered is based on a first-come, first-served basis and has already been used by other shoppers.

This means the coupon has reached its maximum number of redemptions. AliExpress may restock these codes at random, so it’s worth checking again later.

This coupon code is now unavailable. Try collecting another

This means the coupon has already been used, you have reached the maximum number of uses allowed per user or the code is no longer valid.

This coupon code is for single use only

This means the code doesn't exist.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results may result in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

I do love it when the table in the description has the approximate AUD spend. Thanks for being Clear

    • +7

Now I wait for the dozens of comments saying it's not working when the exchange rate drifts.

      • Thanks Clear, still got a code and item in my basket from last time. Will wait to see what the Cashback is like. I don't typically try and buy any high value items but US$299 minus coupons and cashbacks makes it more attractive.

PS better paying in USD as you say. Be good if the upsized cashback was for AU app, still waiting to see if UK is approved. The amount was a rough conversion as paid in USD via Ali au app.

        • I've had approvals with TCB UK. It's the same team as TCB AU.

          • @Clear: Good to know mate, I'm sure it will be fine, my status still ' with retailer' for the last two weeks.

We've submitted your claim to the retailer for review. We generally hear back within 90 days. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear back.

It just won't show up as pounds as per selecting aliExpress UK in the claim, but they should be able to find the purchase. Another one from TBC au tracked instantly (superloop).

Wouldn't it be easier if you post the coupon details solely in AUD? From my understanding AliExpress has an Australian site and always lists coupons in AUD. I personally hate to see US$ in an Australian Bargain Site.

        • +5

AliExpress only has the global .com site for us and it trades in USD. That means if a product is listed for $100 USD it will remain that price for the duration of the sale, unless the seller increases the price. If you set your currency to AUD it's going to fluctuate using AliExpress' exchange rate each day and that's typically about 4% different to the actual exchange rate.

Not to mention that it can drift so far that the internal AUD minimum spend set on the coupon codes no longer line up and you get the no minimum spend requirements met error when trying to redeem. Unlike USD.

Which is why many OzBargainers here have debit and credit cards without currency conversion fees. You won't get slapped with an overseas transaction charge (AliExpress payment is processed in Singapore) and you'll get the actual MasterCard/VISA rate that's 4% better.

This is a price saving website afterall and I wouldn't be doing a good service if I'm pushing people to spend more when they easily don't have to.

          • @Clear: Makes sense. Hopefully AliExpress will set up a local unit in the future considering they have a significant user base here. I still would probably prefer to pay in AUD as I like to know exactly how much I would be paying rather than playing the guessing game. Also a personal effort not to support USD in any form.

            • +1

@ninohax: Actual individual product deals will always have the AUD price with the current approx (~) exchange rate at time of posting. I just can't fit that into individual coupon mega posts due to character limits, so doing USD for the reasons above is the best option. The table will provide AUD equivalents.

            • @ninohax: You can and AUD would be your default/set currency. The AUD coupon codes are also published a lot of the time. Easy enough to check the difference with xe. Com.

Good having a travel card anyway that doesn't attract overseas fees (like 28 degrees card).

PS the Aussie market is pretty small in general.

Maybe Pad Pro GT this round… I pray.

    • Same. If not I'd say the anniversary sale in March.

      • Ah too long. Got surgery in March, need GT asap 😂. Goldway express is most recommended seller?

        • Pull the trigger at 330… Coming in a few days

          • @eminemkh: 8/128GB? think will pull on 12/256GB

            • @R3XNebular: 8/128, even this is overkill for our use case, which is a secondary TV lol

    Please be a Ryzen 7 7800x3d deal @Clear

    • Pretty hard with how prices are on everything now

    • +1

A 5800X3D or 5700X3D would have been good for $300 a while ago but missed out.

    • for the past couple weeks it's been hovering around $420-430 aud shipped with codes. It's not ATL but I still think that's a good enough deal to place an order. I would have if I had the funds but that's the way things go. as it is currently you can get one for under $430 as I'm typing this. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010066792387.html

Amazing! Please keep these codes coming non-stop Thanks!

  • Need a dashcam. This'll come in handy.

  • -1

no codes seem to work me, says they are used

    • Jumping the gun don't you think?

      • oh damn lol . I did the order anyway

  • Does anyone see the same behaviour on the coins page that I do? When I tap the link in the phone app for the Extra % discounts and try to purchase it only gives me the option to Buy and not Add To Cart. Which is annoying, because if it’s a single item it’s often well below US$10 so shipping charges apply. Any way to overcome that?

    • Nah either buy one with shipping or try to buy 2

    • Those deals are used usually 2% or something, they just show the cheapest one then when click it costs more. Maybe better finding choice items for free shipping.. you should be able to add to cart anyway for later

    • Specifically for coins, you can't Add to Cart when they crank up the coins (which is usually the better deals like 95% off etc).

They're great for consumables since you can buy 2 or 3 items to reach the min shipping. I've been able to get things like cables, connectors etc in bulk for like $1.50 rather than the $10 going through Bundle Deals or normal cart for like $10 for the same quantity.

It can be a bit tricky to capitalise on and I've had to 'massage' my item searches to try and get the bits I want to show up.

    • Is this like the bundle deals page? Some of those item descriptions have an "item link" at the bottom, which takes you to the standard listing for the product that works normally

Any good OLED portable monitors to pick up?

    • looking for the same thing!!

      • Looks like VCHANCE is the only one currently. Not the lowest price but for about $160 it’s not bad. Probably wait for a sale at $130

  • Wow - I had a small metal gravy boat in my cart and it has jumped from $12.40 to $22.05.

    Talk about Jack!

    https://imgur.com/a/WcqrgIh

    • You get an extra 4% slapped on for having currency set to AUD give or take 😉

      • Kinda irrelevant after a 75% increase.

Also 4 of the items get removed from my cart when I switch to USD. Go figure.

        • Currency has no impact on what products can be shipped where.

          • @Clear: I am reporting what I observed. I had 13 items in my basket, changed currency, refreshed and now its 9.

Sorry you don't believe me but I didn't think to take screenshots.

            • +1

@gadgetguy: There is some long standing bug on the AliExpress checkout page where items get deselected on their own from the checkout screen. If you go back to your cart, you'll still see the other 4 items and can select them again. Happened to me tonight after adding an item to checkout. Also happened last month but I didn't notice the missing items until after the sale. Ordered those items tonight.

      • Similarly, I've noticed PayPal in 4 doesn't give you the option to use card's rate, only PayPal conversion.

SB has 8.3% for AliExpress, buy purchases from China ineligible.. all the shit is from China lol.

        • SB has 8.3% for AliExpress, buy purchases from China ineligible.. all the shit is from China lol.

It used to say Australia. What they mean to say is people purchasing from within China. I guess that's what happens when you lay off everyone.

          • @Clear: Yeah assume nothing to worry about if using the AliExpress app. Still not sure about spending $400 on something from there like w topping DAC, would be a pain to send back if something is wrong but PayPal is probably safe enough. Ta

Edit: looks like TCB AU has 13% cashback ($30 cap, affiliated items), looking at the TCB app. Gave it a go.

  • Cheers, got a 7800X3D

    • Could I get a link? I've been looking at switching from a 7600x

      • I got this one

        • +1

          Thank you!

        • how much did you manage to get it for?

          • +1

@Sawanjo: $414 with the $45 off code (pretty much cancelled out the GST)
Supposedly $30 in cashback from TopCashBack (tracked) but we'll see how that goes.

            • +1

@FireRunner: Just did the same, Solid deal 383 for a 7800x3d, to go with my 32gb ddr5 from a fb marketplace deal for 300… might finally be able to build that pc!

  • I always forget these. Just spent about $60 last night.

    • The ones also advertised on the front page of AliExpress?

      • Yeah. I pay and then realise i havent used a code … every single time.

  • Looks like $3 off $18 bundle deal is back too

  • With upcoming CNY, is delivery going to delayed by a few weeks?

    • Guess not, because I got mine delivered today, 9 days after ordering all choice items.

      • +1

Also beat the rush it seems, turned up in record time the other day!

  • No big cashback yet? Was 15% yesterday.

    • 15% applies to fashion.

      • Main thing is the sale and apply coupon to cart if you are after something (I assume).

No doubt be better cashbacks in the next few days but items may be gone.

        • +1

If you mean Team Cashback that is*

  • To add to Clear's instructions on maximising coins:

Before you go to the coins page, use the 'find similar' option from the item you're after to find and visit similar listings.

Then when you go to the 'viewed' tab on the coins page, check if any of those listings offer outsized coin discounts.

Also, coins are treated as a payment not a discount. This means vouchers and $15 min for free shipping are considered before coins are applied.

  • @Clear Are these codes one time use or can they be used multiple times?

    • +1

Each code can only be used once.

  • The $4 off $29 codes aren't working for me. My subtotal before coins/credit, shipping and GST = 29.03 USD. 1 of the 2 items is a superdeal. Maybe that's why?

    🤷🏻‍♂️

    • It's not because the item is a superdeal. It's because the codes only work on selected items.

  • Awesome after 15years I’m ditching apple and going android for a change, now to find a budget friendly decent enough phone.

  • @Clear These codes don't seem to work on multiple Choice items which definitely meet the spend threshold in USD (before tax).
    Am I missing something here?

  • Really hope the $20 off coupon comes back in stock
