Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 - don't believe this watch will receive updates moving forward that will come for Fenix 8. Still a lot of watch for a decent price.

It's not receiving fenix 8 feature updates, but still receiving its own updates, last one is Jan 2026

recommend this if you dont mind the lack of support. does everything you need for all kinds of sports. I've had mine for 2 years and it still gets just over 2 weeks of battery life logging all kinds of exercises

I got Rebel to price matched Kogan for $809. Also had 10% off Rebel's GC so just got this one for $728.1

Wow - price matched the non sapphire it seems?

Yes apparently. The sapphire at Kogan is $847 so the Rebel staff slipped up there.

There is a Rebel targeted deal in CommBank Yello if anyone is considering this.
$10 cashback when you spend $80+

Got this and recommend over the overpriced fenix. Good price too.

Had this for the past 2 years - amazing watch. Battery just as good was it ever was, getting ~ 10day between charges. Purchased for $850 from Rebel Dec '23.

You got a good deal. I think it's depressing that over 2 years later they're selling the same model at the same price and it's a deal.

To be fair in this inflationary climate it almost is a deal lol

Why is the 42mm often more expensive than the 47mm

Exclusionary tactics against small wristed people!
My only guess is that they make less, so they don't put it on sale. There is always a glut of the most common model so the stores put it on sale.
Smaller battery, manufacturing costs should be lower.

Worth upgrading from a Garmin Epix (Gen 2) Sapphire Black Titanium?
I purchased this in November 2023 for $897.

I have the same as you and decided the few extras on the Pro are not worth the upgrade. Basically the LED flashlight and better HR monitor and ECG function.

Depends on your use case if you need the new features. I only use mine for fitness and golf and the features are more than enough.
The good thing is these can run fine for 5-10 years as they are not mini computers like the apple watch. Only issues you will run into is the battery might degrade but that's with all smartwatches.
Now if they release a cellular version im ready to upgrade

I only use mine for fitness and golf also.
The screen and features are great plus it still has a solid 10 day battery life.
The only issue is the back button kinda failed after using the device in the pool doing laps, apparently this is a known issue but it is now outside of the warranty period.

Not really imo.

Worth upgrading from the Fenix pro 6?
It's still going strong nearly 6 years later. Always told myself I'd get a nice new Garmin when it dies but I'm not sure I'll ever see that day. Better sensors, better GPS and torch seem tempting

I upgraded to a EPG2 51mm from Fenix 6 - thinking exactly the same.
And I am really loving it. AMOLED screen makes a huge difference. And software features are great too.

Thanks mate, picked up the 51mm for $890 price matched dicksmith

You can get it for $810 at Kogan ebay store with code REWARD50 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/167719919686
In November it was well under $800 with 15% ebay code.
FWIW I just upgraded from a basic forerunner to a Fenix 8 solar. Paid $1600 and while it’s a lot of money I don’t regret it. New watch functions great and looks much better. If you are on the fence like I was then just do it, you won’t regret it.

Fenix Pro 7 Sapphire or Epix Pro 2 Sapphire?
Also, when are the updates ending for these both? They’re fairly recent. Epix gen 3 coming soon I suppose.
Would really appreciate some pointers here. Getting analysis paralysis choosing an update from my Venu 3.

Depends on if you need mip (fenix pro) or oled (epix pro). And Epix has been discontinued unfortunately, hence no further update.

Epix Pro hands down. The Fenix display is MIP, the Epix is AMOLED. Think of the Epix Pro as a Fenix 7.5. In fact it is almost identical to the Fenix E, but slightly better.
As for updates, you would expect for a high end Garmin watch like the Epix Pro (released 2023) to still have at least a couple more years of updates.
Bottom line the Epix Pro is an amazing watch. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks marcoloi09 and baptist1611
I actually tried the Fenix Pro 7 Sapphire Solar and loved it, now trying an Epix Pro 2 and love the AMOLED screen again (after the Venu 3).
For you guys that are really into the ins and outs, which has more features, eg. coaching, better metrics/sensors etc?

You are welcome, I think both have the same software and sensors are same e.g. Gen 5 heart rate sensor. So almost the same, go for Amoled if prefer the brighter screen, you can't go wrong with either

Thanks again, I'm loving the Epix Pro 2 so far.
Gosh, that Fenix Pro 8 looks incredible though right?

How does the Epic Pro 2 compare to the Garmin Forerunner 965 which is on sale for $699. Both seem to have the same features and the Forerunner is less bulky.
