The bento box is not insulated, is it because the foam factor is naturally difficult to retain heat and therefore no point attempting to be insulated?

Would love to find an insulated bento box to pack hot school lunch. We have the round containers, they are bulky, difficult to separate food, difficult to eat from, and difficult to wash.

Was given a food container thing from Frank Green for Christmas, and it specifically says “do not microwave”… so if you want to take it to work, you need to bring another container to heat it up!

I'm not convinced an insulated container would keep the food at a safe temperature (>60 degrees) for the 4-5 hours until lunch time.

We've had some insulated containers, including from Thermos. Nah, they're pretty useless. I'd fill them with boiling water to pre-heat them, heat the food to oblivian in the microwave before putting it into the container, but by lunch time it would be cold.

Omiebox is what you're looking for. Not bargain friendly though haha

Zojirushi have food jars that have great heat retention but they’re not cheap. https://zojirushi.com.au/product-category-food-jars/ Also sold on Amazon AU so you may find a deal at some point.

  • thanks OP, ordered a chug bottle.

    • Got refunded :(

  • Legend, wanting an insulated food container for some time like the Yeti ones, hope these are similar

  • My shopping card shows $99 even through subtotal is $20.

  • Reviews looked good so grabbed the 1L container and extender. Cheers OP!

Went and saw these in person just now.

The container is quite good, doesnt feel to heavy but is definitely on the big size. Worth getting the extension with it also as its a better size for single use and then can be added to the larger one.

The bento box is really heavy even when empty, wouldn't suggest it for daily use.

Legend, thanks for the rundown. Was trying to gauge the size from the limited pics posted on reviews but it was a bit tricky. Bought both anyway but your comments confirm it was the right choice. Cheers

  • Thanks OP. Had $40 Myer Credit sitting around. Perfect time to use them.

Normally the 1L food container is $20 elsewhere so saving of $10.

  • Would GetGo Double Wall Insulated Food Container 1L be good for coffee beans ?

    • +1

I think coffee beans should be able to breathe / release gas?

Insulated jars should work still though.

  • Note: online order can not be cancelled..

The roasting rack is $10 at Amazon too @hamza23

    • Thanks. Feel free to post it as a separate deal so people can see it. If not I'll check it in the morning.

      • I think only 4 left, so would be for the Amazon thread

  • Was literally about to order for click and collect and now it's gone.
