    just kicked the bucket.

How does it kicked the bucket? It just stopped? Or you noticed the temp went very high unsually?

I suspect the coolant went bad or some internal corrosion, the pump made odd noises and stopped cooling. After checking outside the pc the pump runs but with a whine while the radiator has an internal rattle. Seems it was built to a budget, though it didn’t leak so met one marketing claim at least.

The coolant probably evaporated via the tubes. Lifespan of 4.5 years is pretty poor. My Corsair got 9 out.

        • Cant you add more liquid to it?

          • @John Doh: Sadly, going with an air cooler was cheaper than the time it would take to add coolant into the AIO.

            • @skid: Exactly, have a Thermalright cooler that arrived the next day. Can’t fault it though it’s louder than an AIO.

Not worth trying to refill the aio either as it would be hard to flush without risking future leaks.

            • @skid: True, I have always considered using an AIO, but never had higher end CPUs to justify the risk associated with it. Plus an aircooler from noctua would work for decades with newer brackets released by them whenever a new socket type comes out.

              • @John Doh: Only issue with those Noctuas, especially if you go with the NH-D15 series, they are massive and will cause headache if you do want to clean around the CPU from time to time.

  • 420mm is a big boy. I am using the 360mm mounted on the side (vertical) in a Hyte Y70 and it barely fitted despite the case specs saying it takes it easy.
