Power Force Lens Cleaning Wipes - 200-Pack for $6.99 @ ALDI

680

Quantity - 200
Price - $6.99

Reluctantly purchased this Power Force Lens Wipes just to try as it’s cheap. To my surprise, the quality is top notch.

Comparing with Clearwipe, Zeiss (it’s been my daily go to) and the one from Costco; this one from ALDI is just as great as Zeiss.

Not sure if deal or not as this is seasonal and seems to be fixed priced. However, comparing at other brands which come to be around $20 for 200 count, this is certainly a bargain.

Do take receipt though in case you want refund.

Cheers

If you dont use them up within a specific period like a year or so it tends to dry out. So get them to use regularly not only occasionally

I bought a 200 pack of ZEISS in 2022 and they are still good.

I have a box of Clearwipe from 2013 that is still moist. It's crazy.

            @Dreamcast: After reading what… 😂 😂 😂

            • @raj76: "I have a box of Clearwipe from 2013 that is still moist. It's crazy."

        • Pretty sure it depends where you store the. If the in a cool dry place like a cupboard.

They should stay moist for many years

    • I just give them a squirt with my water downed 100% IPA Alcohol from Sydney solvents to give them a refresh..

The secret is that Aldi probably gets the same manufacturer that Zeiss uses to make it for them. Aldi is smart in this respect. Can't fault their own branded products.

    • -1

They are probably made by Zeiss

      • +4

Zeiss probably gets an Aldi factory to make them.

The factory probably gets Aldi to Zeiss them.

ALDI keeps selling you guys this line. Just because they plagiarise other people’s packaging doesn’t mean it is the same product. I just use a spray and à cloth. Less pollution that way.

      • -2

When you spray it gets in wind air invisibly and when you wipe dust get lost invisibly so pollution both ways too

        • +1

You spray onto the lens close to the lens, so not much lost. I’m not sure what your second point is?

          • +2

@try2bhelpful: There's also the disposal of the wipe and packaging. That's one reason I gave up on wipes a couple of years ago.

            • +4

@PeterSnoot: Absolutely, it is like the one use wet wipes for things like kitchen benches. The amount of garbage people produce is mind blowing.

  • Good deal, but I believe this is the normal price

Are these safe to use on AR coatings

    • I reached (quickly) last time I wanted to clean them, iirc, they shouldn’t be used.

  • Interesting. Might have to give these a try as I rate the Zeiss ones.

  • I just bought a box of the Zeiss ones from the last (not very good) deal so I'll have to wait till these come around again. At a third of the price they'd be a bargain if they're just as good.

    Any good for OLED panels?

    • Yep I vacuum my OLED TV with a soft brush head then wipe down with a ClearWipe - works a treat 👍

Are these good for dry eyes?

    • +6

Yes. Wipe directly on eyeballs to promote tears.

I also reluctantly bought these to try as they were cheap. I hate them and can't wait for the day they are finished. They leave things wet and need to dry them, and they leave streaks all over the helmet visor. The orange box ones you get from the chemist are heaps better

    • I agree, same experience here. I won' be buying these ever again after I finish my box. I find that using hand wash soap and water works much better than these wipes.

  • +3

I thought these were packets of condoms. I guess I need to clean my lens.

    • +1

Have you tried them on your junk though?

  • "Clear" eyes four eyes

  • +4

I have some from a while ago and find them nowhere near as good as Clearwipes. They are far too wet and leave streaks. If you let them dry for a while before using them they are better, but not great.

    • Every time I clear my lenses, I clear my phone and watch too. Have screen cover though. No streaks.

  • What a rip off!

  • +1

I never got a good result from these wipes cleaning camera lenses.

My go to is Microfibre cloth (Mr. Siga) + Distilled Water. Wet cloth, clean elements, wipe dry (any residual moisture wont leave residue).

If theres any oil (finger prints), i'll clean first with 70% isopropyl alcohol, then clean with distilled water.

    • I just breath on the lens and use the free glasses cleaning cloth that came with my glasses for my camera lenses. If I'm feeling fancy I'll use my dust brush pen thing.

  • +3

Whatever you do just wash the dust/debris off your lenses first otherwise you are just grinding dirt/dust/sand into your lenses.

    • -2

Wear gloves as you leave fingerprint carefully run sodium benzoate cleanser to wash the glasses, dry it carefully with lint free cloth then still in gloves use one of these aldi schmick paper towelettes and rub in circular motion still in gloves for 10 seconds then blow with your breath and then wipe again. Total time spent - if less than 10 minutes you are taking short cuts and not doing justice to the aldi schmick towelettes.

      • According to Ai you're undoing the good of the glass cleaner by subsequently blowing on your glasses ;-) otherwise I admire your fastidious cleaning regime.

"Blowing on your glasses to clean them is generally not recommended. While it offers temporary moisture for quick cleaning, it can leave behind oil particles from your breath, causing streaks, smudges, and a dirtier lens. Using proper lens spray or water with a microfiber cloth is superior."

  • Once dry up which is quickly, it's just paper

  • +2

Not sure why people like these. I bought this recently and it's too wet. Leaves streaks on the glass and you then need to use another microfibre cloth to dry it.

Also, it's shocking when the paper dries. The paper seems so harsh that I'm surprised it doesn't leave micro-scratches on the lens.

    • Same feeling, it is way too wet compared to Zeiss and Clearwipes and leaves crazy amount of streaks.

  • I haven't see that yesterday, but will definitely go back and check again. Thanks for sharing

  • Why don't people just use the free cloth that came with their glasses? I've been doing that for over 20yrs, no issues. Or just wash with liquid hand soap, water and dry with a tissue. Never had an issue with scratching. I do agree there are huge variations in quality of free cloths but over the years you hang onto the good ones.

  • No stock at Lane Cove.

  • Grabbed some. They are reasonable.
Do tend to carry less fluid/moisture that expected and feel a little on the dry side, especially when cleaning a PC monitor or the likes. Need to crack open a few.

Otherwise, do a decent job. Just a shame that so many need to be ripped open where 1 should be enough.

(aaahhh - reading back on that… nar.. yeah… good enough…)
