    Is this too big?

    • +31

that's a question I've never had to ask

          Damn…. :| whooooosh

See the joke was in relation to size of a males member. The responses below are to the fact you missed the joke entirely, either due to your personality or just the day you are having.

I hope that clears it up.

          • @3DL3: What's a "male's member"?

Are we talking about frequent flyer or everyday rewards?

        • +2

          lol upvote for innocence

      • +1

        LOL

    • That's what she said!

    • +2

You might think you want it to be big, your partner might also have a similar opinion as well. But in reality the quality of the shows/movies matters more than the size

    • +4

Ignoring all the double entendre responses, we got a cheapish 85" for a normal size lounge room (with sufficient viewing distance) a while ago and I think it is probably too big.

I reckon I would go for a higher quality 75" if I had my time over, but obviously YMMV.

    • I heard it has really good personalities as well.

a reminder that 100 inches in 2015 was $38,000 aud.

Wife and I were in NYC in 2009 and the street in which we were staying was partially blocked one morning. The penthouse of the apartment building next door was having a 100-inch TV installed by crane. Total cost for the TV and install was US$100K!

  • +6

Harvey Norman boxing day sales had it at $2,876 with 10% in gift cards on top.

    • +8

Comments like that are a bit of an ick for me.

    • 5'11 vs 6'0

  • +5

Seems a bit steep for me for a TV with not local dimming.
85" C8K has a couple/few thousand local dimming zones and eye searing brightness at $2943. I would find it very hard to go for the 98" for the same price.

    • I love my c8k

      • Need some advice. Thanks! I bought 2 x 75C835 in 2022/23. Both had repairs done (pcb change x 2, backlight psu) and one suddenly died! Heard a loud pop, and refused to turn on. TCL warranty said would replace with C7K. When I checked w google, it advices that C8K is the direct replacement. Do you think it's fair ground to request for the C8K ? Honestly, I'm not so confident with the TCL brand after the multiple repairs. I'm considering if they refuse, I will seek full refund instead.

        • +2

I think Google maybe giving you false information.

My understanding is that it went 835, 845, 855

          Right now it is

          C6k, C7k, C8k

If anything your tv would be the c6k, so I'd take the win and take the C7k tbh.

          • @BarginGrabber: Just received the C7K replacement for warranty and found that build quality is inferior to my C835. Very plasticky and not as premium build. Alot lighter too. The sound coming from the B&O speaker was making a vibrating sound as if some component was loose inside. Spewing that I didn't insist on C8K. Seems like a downgrade. Remote is rubbish too.

            • @armageddeus: You could have argued for a refund possibly, but you wouldn't have gotten the C8k unless you paid the difference.

              • @BarginGrabber: Sucks to deal w TCL. They argued that due to price depreciation, they won't refund full purchase amount. Replacement unit has no warranty either. I even bought 2 x 75c835 at the same time from TGG.

        • C7k is a considerable upgrade

    • 13 inches though….

      • +1

It's diagonally 13 inch. Display area wise, it's a third (a lot) larger.

  • +3

Get the C8K if you can afford it.

    • Just have to wait for another C8K deal….

  • Very tempted. Only if it was P8K and at that price.

  • Have seen people complaining about getting headaches watching TCL TVs. Probably not the majority but still something to consider if you are in the minority I think.

Image and motion processing of Sony is what holding me back from getting a TCL or even LG TV.

  • +1

    need c7k c8k deals asap

    • +1

JB/HN/GG did one today as well, but it's much worse than the previous deals

      • need boxing day level deals for sure. they must be coming, i can feel it.

  • +1

    Need a bigger house.

    • any house deals? i saw those cheap bunnings container houses but they're smaller than the tv…

  • +4

    Grabbed C8K 98inch for $4000 last Black Friday…
Can't see any better deals than it…

    • It hit 3491 from memory. Memory ain’t what it was though

      • Hmmm that's crazy….
        How could this being achieved…

  • Is the C8K really better than C7K ? This review seems to say it's over-bright ?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMIJYc2n-lI

    • +1

      it's at least 1 better

  • Waiting for it to be a bit cheaper (to be near boxing day sales around $26XX) or even the C7K coming down to $34XX may be worth spending extra on.

  • Samsung 98" is also 2990

  • Once you go 98” there is no going back

  • Ultra short throw protector vs a 100 inch tv?

    • In a bright room, TV wins by knockout. Maybe not in a dark theatre room….

  • Pixels the size of a corn

  • +2

98 inch is too big for p7k

    • Correct. You will want FALD or MiniLED as an absolute minimum for anything over 75 inch

  • +1

Anyone who buys this is literally just buying for the size, the c8k in an 85" is going to give a hell of alot better picture.

The size is great yeah, but to appreciate it you probably have a media room, and at that enthusiast level you should not be sacrificing quality for size.

If you want a TV this big and average quality, buy a short throw projecter and get the extra 15-50".

    • -1

No, I have a family room for my young kids. We mostly play Minecraft and the 4K TV seems to keep up with the big pixels it's pushing

      • +1

No what? I never said it wont perform, i just said its not going to be anywhere near as good as the c8k 85".

        • -1

Oh the whole media room statement.

This is a post for one of the cheapest large screen TVs on an Australian BARGAIN site. It is not a home cinema enthusiasts forum.

          • +1

@IlIlIl IlI llIIIl: No but people might see this and go wow, i can get a 98" for the same price as a c8k 85"?!! why would i buy the 85, and i provided them the info.

I purchased the 85" c8k for around $1900 from memory, which was a bargain.

      • +3

98 inch for minecraft? probably excessive.

        • Just a bit haha, also using minecraft as a benchmark is wild!

  • What would you do with the box? Would you keep it just in case you want move? Or one can purchase a box this big?

    • Sounds like a future me problem.

In all seriousness I’d imagine it would get moved like other big TVs with tie downs and blanket covers. I’ve never moved using the original boxes for a TV since they’re usually designed to lift off so n it sure if they’re still structurally ideal post the opening.

    • Dispose of it and leave the tv. Upgrade with the move. By then the tv will be half the price and not worth the effort to move

  • +1

I was looking at getting the P7K 85^ $1500 would think screen performance would be the same

    • Having spent a bit of time looking and TVs in the last 2 months, my choice to pick up in the latter half of the year. Size is the sweet spot and solid features at that price point

      • +1

Thanks. Got one today for $1400 negotiated.

  • Bit sceptical about the "installed" bit. My experience of getting a 98" TCL delivered from JB HiFi (ordered/paid in store), was that the delivery guys refused to even help me get it out of the box. They suggested I needed to arrange some one else to help get it out of the box, and plonk it on the entertainment cabinet. Definitely a 2 man job - would've been more of an issue if I couldn't get a mate to help. Dunno what i was doing wrong - maybe the way the delivery was arranged by the in store sales staff was wrong, maybe it wouldn't have been a problem if I ordered online.
