  • Only for bali or whole indonesia?

    • Pretty sure it can be used in whole of Indonesia. XL is one of the big network carrier in Indonesia

      go get it, tiger!

Can anybody share when you have to activate these by? Wondering if I can buy now and stash away until a trip to Bali in August. Thanks!

      In a similar situation

From my recent experience, their eSIMs activate when you purchase the plan (as opposed to when you add it on your phone), so you'll need to buy it right before your trip.

No need to worry. The price has been like this for years.

trip to Bali?? just prepare for the traffic, expensive and rubbish..

Does this work with international IMEI? Keep in mind that Indonesia blocks all foreign IMEI. You will have to use tourist SIM plans to use your phone with local networks.

    • Most esim providers I have seen offer Bali, where is the information that states otherwise?

    • This eSIM will works with International IMEI or International phone that never been registered in Indonesia.

      • It is possible that in Indonesia, registration will be denied.

    • Yes. It's a tourist sim plan

Trip.com have some pretty decent bali esim offers too. No passport required. Unlimited data (daily allowance then limited). No local phone number.

    • Thanks, those trip.com deals look pretty good (for Europe). Nice that you can still have some connection after data allowance is used up.

  • This seems like really solid deal. Recently travelled to Bali and had no issues with 2x 5gb 30 day esims from Travelkon for $20AUD (total) but the extra data would have been nice!

  • I use this every time I go to Indonesia. The extra data is also very cheap, about $4 for an extra 25GB.

  • So can one person/passport buy multiple esims? Obviously using a different IMEI everytime. Looking at this for the family for next trip.

  • Can we keep reusing the eSIM, keep same number by buying new plan? Any expiry of the eSIM if unused?

just looking into this because I'm going to Bali next month, I found on the website after clicking on some of the info tabs further down it says under the button "what esim plans are available for foreigners?" to buy a tourist esim to visit https://www.xl.co.id/esim-tourist instead.

The data totals are way different and bigger (90gb, 212gb, 315gb, 470gb and 700gb) for the same prices as the OP link, @syhauw what's the go do we use your link or the tourist link I feel like there's gotta be a catch?

    • That's insane value, better than the original link, good find

      • I'm not sure if OP has even tried buying this esim I've done more research and this reddit comment suggests you can't pay for it with paypal or aus cards so it's not possible to buy for us aussies.

doing a little more digging, seems you can follow this thread for more info on how to pay, it suggests setting up a QRIS account (indonesian e-wallet) through Dana Pay and try register with your aus credit/debit card (the OP is american but claimed they were able to successfully load their account from america with a Revolut card through Dana Pay) but if that doesn't work another comment says you can set up a Gopay account (another QRIS e-wallet provider) before you travel and then go to any indomaret store and pay the shopkeeper with cash to load the QRIS account then go online (maybe using your hotel wifi?) and buy the tourist eSim.

The OP on that reddit link also says they couldn't figure out how to access the bonus data and only got 15gb for 45k rupiah despite the website claiming 80gb was offered so I wouldn't trust those data totals on the XL website

        • Definitely appears to be a lot easier to just buy via OPs link.

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: I don't think the payment process changes between either link..

            • +1

@ps3_andy: Seems odd to make payment so difficult. Especially since it appears to be targeted to visitors to Bali
