I didn’t expect this to blow up like this. We hear the feedback and we’ll improve, and I’m genuinely sorry for the frustration this has caused — that wasn’t our intention.

To be transparent: yes, we purchased the HP gaming prebuilt from the $6,499 eBay deal, and the RTX 5090 was allocated to another project.

With the remaining parts, I genuinely thought we could still put together a decent-value deal. The system came with 4×16GB (64GB), and many buyers don’t need 64GB for gaming,we should’ve labelled it as OEM from the start. We’ll update the post to clearly state OEM RAM, and clarify that the removed sticks were used in our Pragmatic builds. The aim was to balance costs and improve pricing across our lineup.

On warranty concerns: you’re protected under Australian Consumer Law, and we also provide a 3-year warranty on all systems we sell (HP or custom) — we handle the warranty.

We’ve now taken the deal down. We’ll be more careful before posting future deals. Again, sorry for the confusion — we’ll do better.

Regards,
Nero

Deal #1

* Pragmatic — Ryzen 7 9800X3D + RTX 5080$3699 + $39 Shipping / $0 VIC C&C

Due to the strong demand for the Vista Prime, we decided to bring out this Pragmatic build at the same price point.

At the moment, RAM pricing is basically at the ceiling with no real signs of dropping, so to keep this deal at the same price, we had to make some sensible trade-offs — mainly around the motherboard and memory selection.

    HP OEM Z890

Did you guys buy the 5090 omen deal then pull the 5090 and install a 5080 💀

    • +1

      Wow, we found Broden!

Edit: 39 sold on the eBay HP listing, I wonder how many they purchased.

      • +18

Seriously bad move advertising gutted Omen PC on OzB.
We all know some individuals doing scalping for profit but for an actual store to do the same is next level.
The leftover OEM parts are subpar and definitely not worth anything close to what they claim.
Warranty would also be complicated. HP won't honour it since parts are missing.

      • if you look at the sold listing purchase history it was mostly accounts buying 5 (the limit of the coupon), wouldnt be surprised if someone bought like 30 using different accounts

        https://www.ebay.com.au/bin/purchaseHistory?item=36613528407…

      • +2

Haha. I reckon they inadvertently saved me a lot of money. I'd just put together a 9800x3d/9070xt build then I saw the HP omen 5090 deal… Was really torn until it sold out.

I'm totally happy with my build. Not a good for scalping to be the reason, but saved my wallet.

    • You mean this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/945261

      I think so LOL.
What a weird time we live in these days. Gutting pre-builts and taking all the expensive parts (GPU, RAM and SSD).

      • Pull the 5090 and replace with cheaper SSD then put the 32GB RAM into Pragmatic

      • No, the one that went for $4699

        • $4699 with a slower CPU 265K.

          • @goalbf: Ah yes, so it is. So about $500 difference in value between the CPUs for the calculation below.

      • +9

$4000* less value for a $1200 discount. Please explain how that is better pricing overall.

The value in that deal was the RTX 5090. The rest of the system wasn't that great (pretty mediocre motherboard I hear).

*EDIT: $3500 (to account for the lesser CPU)

      • +6

5080 instead of 5090. 32GB RAM instead of 64GB. 1TB SSD instead of 2 x 2TB SSD… and you call it better pricing?

      • +4

Yes, we did reconfigure some parts for other projects

So how much are these 5090 systems going for?

        • +7

          285k + 5090 + 64GB RAM + 2 x 2TB SSD was $5499 delivered. $50 ~ $200 cheaper if you used discounted giftcard.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/940878

the price difference in GPU alone is around $3700. (the cheapest 5090 $5599 - the cheapest 5080 $1899)
          $600~700 from 32GB Ram kit.
          $400~500 from 1TB SSD + 2TB SSD.

parts differnce is around $4700 ~ 5000 in value.or minimum $4000 difference if you could get 5090 for under $5000

      • +7

Despicable act for a store to do this.

    • +9

      Exactly what they did 🤡

    • +2

Only the motherboard that's been blamed for the Omen's terrible performance…

  • Do you have any part out bundles for 9800x3d?

  • +1

would you guys sell a desktop without RAM?

  • +40

I dunno how I feel about a business basically scalping at this point. You guys obviously don’t have a business relationship with HP, anyone buying a PC with these OEM parts is basically buying second hand goods.

  • +43

My God that’s so dodgy, and a great way to ruin your rep on OzB

  • Ooft not a good look. Theres still time….

  • Any chance of a Mobo+CPU bundle like the last deal?

  • +3

    AI slop main text

  • +9

Props the to community here for calling this BS out immediately, I thank you.

    • +2

Yeah, I ordered the claw in the previous deal, now seeing tonight that they've tried a dodgy deal with the scalped and downgraded omens I feel like I would have been better going with nebula's byo gpu deal instead. Apparently these come shipped with gpu separate so I'd be installing it myself either way and if scalping from a deal posted here back to us is what they're about I don't feel good about being a customer.

  • How does this pragmatic compare to the claw deal for $200 less? I was going to get claw until the Graphics card downgraded to a Palit. Now I'm torn.

  • +3

Build your own quality PC, you honestly won't spend that much more for quality parts all round.

No doubt ppl will continue buying this stuff, just understand you're mostly buying Frankenstein PCs through all these scrap builders.

  • Hey @GalaPower i just bought apocalypse yesterday, it seems pragmatic end up being on the same price but 5080. can i get some help swapping ? the cost end up almost the same modified apocalypse versus pragmatic.

    • Pragmatic comes with better graphics card and better cpu but pretty much worse everything else.

  • +3

    Deserves neg for shady practices
