That's NOT a floating pool speaker!
Designed for a different use to this Anko.
AliEx is just a waterproof speaker with a suction mount to use in bathroom or outside! (Anko has attachment hole.)
Other big differences:
It's 8.5cm diameter vs 16cm Anko.
IPX4 vs IPX7 waterproof
It's 3W sound output vs 5W.
400mAh vs 1200mAh lithium battery.
White is almost same price as Anko but OOS.
No wonder it's cheaper.
Also Anko has 12 months warranty - can take back for refund
Using this Anko - happy with it.
Sound quality is good for $9. But not loud enough for medium - large areas.
Light effects show on top of & under device, lighting water in pool. Can be turned off to prolong music play.
Ordering another.
Still available at my local Kmart for C&C. Otherwise free delivery with OnePass.
Point taken. I didn't compare the specs; they just looked very similar.
Ordering another.
Are they TWS?
@wisdomtooth: No criticism of you, just a warning to others considering the cheaper option. The tiny speakers will likely disappoint
Checked specs as am buying another of these.
I doubt TWS. Can't imagine people wanting Left & Right speakers floating in their pool😉
Not shown as TWS in specs, but am hoping & will try. Have good sounding $5 Kmart Bluetooth speakers that are TWS.
Have this hanging on wall of Kitchen. Sounding pretty good. Nice light display.
But a pair playing same music should sould better.
(Only have an inflatable wading pool I use to cool off in summer. Looks good with lights & sound on at night.)
Have good sounding $5 Kmart Bluetooth speakers that are TWS.
Oh, yeah, got a pair of those too. Pretty pleasant, but only for jazz/background music; not party speakers. For. Sure.
At any rate, $5 was a steal.
@wisdomtooth: Bought some $5 ones for $2.50ea😉 Made great gifts
Yes - good for small areas, set up as stereo pairs. Use in bedroom, bathroom, & beside my tiny $10 "pool".
This single speaker is much louder - in use in open area of house. Or floating in the "pool".
What's a party? Haven't had one in a long time! Ran one for hundreds on a N Qld island, & a festival for thousands. That needs a proper sound system.
Now enjoy the peace & quiet.
@wisdomtooth: Wading pool from clearance years ago.
Large enough & just deep enough (262x175x51cm) for 2 adults to comfortably spread out & lie in it to cool off in the heat🍸
All I really need. Packed away 9-10 months of year. Can't be bothered with cost, water use & regular maintenance of a full pool💰
Did buy a 66cm X 3m dia Bestway Pool with pump for $45, but was too big for my secure courtyard. Would require expensive pool fencing elsewhere. Sadly returned to Kmart.
A member converted it to a basic hot tub But am more interested in keeping cool in Brissie🌡️
@INFIDEL: Subscribed! That's what I'm here for. Unfortunately, through the years, OzBargain has deteriorated from the thrifty, resourceful community that it was to the brand-chasing, junk-eating mob with the YGWYPF mentality it's become.
@wisdomtooth: Totally agree👍
Comments here were my first this year. I've posted over 30k!!! I've said enough…
Glad for your comments in response😃
I consider what I need, rather than what I may desire. What can I achieve by doing things differently…
Made a career out of teaching that. In my CBD Brisbane corporate consultancy, I realised I could earn enough working 1 day a week.
Renting a Queen St office, I sublet it 4 days a week, making a profit! Took my bookings by mobile on the beach. No one cancelled & people paid more to see me. As it was so hard to get a booking😢
Retired in my 30's to travel up to 9 months a year overseas 🌴
Decided Ozbargain is no longer for me. Just occasionally check in. Mainly for the freebies.
Although my financial position has radically improved over the 15 years I've been here, I still love cheap / free Deals.
Those give me enjoyment. Picking up more free stuff from Supercheap & JB tomorrow - from credits posted here😉
Too many attacks on useful suggestions to save money. It's spend spend spend💰
And far too many expensive Deals!
Bye Ozbargain👋
@INFIDEL: Sad… but true!
You've been here 15 years! And I 18!! What happened to us? Or is it not "us", but a different demographic altogether? Sometimes I think it's that people advanced in their careers, made money, and now deem—and demean!—any real bargain “LanDFiLl”, and sometimes I think it's a different demographic altogether, more urban, more Asian, who eschew thrift as a symptom of poverty, token of a past they wish to distance themselves from, for whom a bargain is buying Louis Vuitton with 5% discount (over what, tho??).
@wisdomtooth: Lol 😂
My thoughts too "old timer".
Many users Deals I used to like to read are long gone.
Like most relationships, there is a time to move on…
The demographic has changed. It's no longer for me.
it's a different demographic altogether, more urban, more Asian
Of course Ozbargain was set up by Asians😉
Some of my favourite items bought through Deals here were described as “LanDFiLl”! (Had to look that term up)
I don't expect them to last, but they do.
They're cheap toys that give me simple pleasure. Something most fail to appreciate.
I've experienced living very cheaply, sometimes in squats. Out of choice.
Set up & ran free food services. Plus a Social Enterprise training, supporting & employing the needy. Giving all profits to aid the local community.
It's what I enjoy - here & overseas.
Haven't worked a day since before you joined Ozbargain.
And 4 days since I retired. I am definitely not desperate for money, but can attract a lot when I need it.
I travel cheaply to travel longer.
And Lighter, making do with only what is in my backpack.
It gives a sense of freedom.
That few who live pay to pay, spending far too much will never understand.
Japanese appreciate me, giving me the nickname "Very Lucky".
People there give me money & pay for some meals. They see me enjoying their culture, sharing laughter with them. They can't help but repay my simple nature. (I am usually embarrassed.)
As a Uni student, I taught private classes in creativity. Playing like a child to children's music.
Freeing participants to see other possibilities. Highly profitable ($200+/hr)
Years later they would tell me how those 4 hours had changed their lives & how they thought.
A client at my consultancy saw me to complain about their boss (State Manager of a Multinational).
I refused to listen to "gossip".
Instead I wanted him to take charge of his life.
So I set him the task of writing a 1 page report - what the boss wasn't doing right by the business; what he would do differently; what the outcome of his changes would mean for the business. A simple strategy.
I refused to read it, asking who should read it. He sent it to Sydney HQ.
A few weeks later, he was the State Manager. Didn't surprise me, but he certainly was.
He then asked for help him to be the boss…
Taught him about what staff want. Basic people skills many lack.
Discussed priorities like improving profits - to retain staff in a downturn.
In 5 minutes play on my office floor, he developed a new business worth an estimated $350M in 1995!
Simple when we think differently & know what we want😃
@INFIDEL: Interesting life!
Of course Ozbargain was set up by Asians😉
True! Different kind of Asians, perhaps. The founder was Vietnamese, no? I get a sense that HK Chinese (and Korean?) are very brand-focused, and hate anything coming from (pinches nose) the Mainland. South and West Asians for sure are the thrift masters of the universe.
@wisdomtooth: My motto is to live
"An Interesting Life"😉
So when travelling in rural Japan etc, I hitchhike. Locals are interested to see a Foreigner so far from a big city. So they want to share their life with me. Such a joy!
As for nationalities - as long as Ozbargain works well is all that matters to me.
Mods decisions & rules have changed.
Vindictive personal attacks on my reputation were worrying. A member tried to organize others to neg my correct information. It was eventually taken down.
Mods can say it's OK as it's just a personal opinion🫤
I've been told my polite response to a member's incorrect comment - "would not be allowed in my country"!! So I should withdraw my comment. It was an attempt to censor me!!
Long ago, I've had Special Branch (Political) Police in Brisbane do the same. I don't back down.
Having lived for years with Chinese Malaysians, I am aware of subtle cultural sensitivities.
Interviewed PRC postgrad students long ago. They were very cautious not to give their opinions in case it had repercussions for family back home. So I never published in my own student newspaper.
@wisdomtooth: I think you guys have never met the founder of Ozbargain ~ Scotty. He's Taiwanese background. I met him few times during Ozbargain meetups.
Not all people here are big spenders. There are few types of Ozbargainers here, I think:
* Certain big spenders with bigger income
* Somewhere in between (middle class)
* Poor ass
* Sellers looking for bargains for reselling.
I buy mostly what I need. I know how to save money. Even for certain spendings either small or big, I still can get good bargain/discount. I am not rich yet … INFIDEL has got a nicer life in my opinion and lots more experience.
There are optimists and pessimists here. I tend to be Optimist and don't neg other people. People who like to neg a lot maybe think more negative or feel happy to neg a lot … Most of my comments are actually helpful.
@INFIDEL too
@neoleo: Taiwanese, right! Indeed I haven't. But isn't that one of the reasons why he retired from OzB?
@wisdomtooth: Everyone is free to make posts related with any bargains. I know the founder is a very humble person and don't spend much money unnecessarily.
We just need to think positive, see other people's perspectives, and decide whether certain deals are for us or not. Otherwise skip to the next deals.
@neoleo: Right. It certainly seemed so from what he wrote there. And that's why he felt quite disconnected from how some ozbargainers spent their money.
@wisdomtooth: I reckon certain Ozbargainers are rich, so they can afford to buy cars deals, more than a million dollar savings deals, etc.
@neoleo: I don't think really rich people wander around bargain sites. I reckon these OzBargainers buying Teslas and million dollar saving deals are middle class leveraged on credit, on the treadmill to catch up with the Joneses, and looking to buy brand names at a 5% discount.
@wisdomtooth: Btw, the founder's nationality doesn't really matter as he has been here for a very long time. He is a good Christian. I think I saw one post in the past about someone questioned whether mod neil is Chinese or not, lol.
@neoleo: Yeah, didn't mean to be xenophobic; just trying to understand what happened to OzBargain's culture. It seemed that initially Scotty attracted like-minded folk — that would revel on Zapals' $1 deals — and was overtaken by a mob that looks down on anything from Kmart, from Rivers, from China, for whom anything that's not top dollar is LaNdfiLL… And that strong animosity towards China is indicative of something. I've only seen that in immigrant Hongkongers, given the history. The brand chasing too. Maybe Seoul is the same. At the same time, I've also noticed a lot more women on the site too, which is a nice counterbalance. It's noticeable by their tone (less abrasive), and their interests and expertise (laundry products, cosmetics, etc).
@INFIDEL: lmao, never missing the chance to pat your own back in public and let everyone know about how much better you are.
@Ughhh: Lol!!
Sorry for setting a good example others might consider following, rather than always complaining😃
I've helped many live far better, more fulfilling lives. Something you obviously don't believe in.
Fortunately I am acknowledged by people I respect here & overseas!!
Even on Ozbargain, my work training & employing unemployed & funding free food (without taking a cent) - gained a Popular Comment Badge😂
It inspired others as I hoped.
lmao, never missing the chance to pat your own back in public
Yea, sure! By posting about it in an old Deal no one is interested in or will likely ever see🤣
My previous Popular Comment was over 9 years ago!!
Your logic is astounding, as I've noticed.
(Gave you a 1 Star rating years ago)
Your user name certainly suits you

Obviously YOU need to look at your negative attitudes, rather than complain about others acknowledged helpful work.
Bye…
I'm leaving Ozbargain due to the negative views frequently expressed & supported here.
In reply to discussion about how views & personal attacks are driving people away from Ozbargain, I expressed my very different views above.
Won't miss the "put others down" disease that infects Ozbargain🫤
@wisdomtooth: I've never seen it as was travelling to a Festival held every 20 years at the remote Emperors Shrine.
On my return to Nara (South of Kyoto), people were pointing at me. Eventually someone said I showed great respect & understanding. Which was awkward as I didn't know what I'd done.
I had attended the first English language class in Rakugo (traditional Japanese Storytelling) in Osaka. I was so absorbed in the process, I didn't notice the camera. So my first performance was a hit. But no one told me.
Was told I could make a career performing in Japan! I later took on the teacher of that class as my Sensei. My photo was used to promote a performance in Kobe. Again I only found out afterwards.
It's assumed Foreigners are outgoing & wouldn't mind. That's not really me.
My training in Social Psychology leads me to be a quiet observer of groups & cultures, not a public object!
But after watching Japanese Rakugo classes & learning it takes years for Japanese to become proficient in Rakugo, I realised I was more a novelty act😢
Japanese often ask me to explain aspects of their culture to them. It's an honour. But I am always learning. But it's hard as I speak little Japanese.
This looks like something Hector would also be running
How much HP increase are we talking

Always wanted a Plasma Ball in my car. No idea why car makers don't factory fit them.
Yeah, I'd gladly have this instead of a useless feature like ABS!
"And now, Anko makes it possible for YOU be a Plasma Baller for only $2!"
I ordered 2 of the plasma chargers. The package arrived today containing 2 x blister packs "Anko Dual 48W Car Charger" (listed at $19 each). Dunno if this is a mistake, or a substitute??
