So 3kg for $84 ($28/kg) delivered, which blend for cappuccino?

    • I’m a fan of 888 Blend right now as a 20g in / 50g out with full cream Capp milk. Most people land with Roosevelt when trying Inglewood espresso blends. Downtown is a bit boring.

      • +1

Better than roosevelt with milk as well? As I havent tried 888 one only. Should I get 2kg of this instean mix up all flavour again (skip Sunsetboulevard)

        • +1

If you can control the beans in their resting/oxidation phase, either is fine.

Roosevelt is far more forgiving when putting 250g in a Breville grinder hopper and pulling shots daily (mate of mine had Roosevelt on 1kg sub, and every time I’m there I can pull shots and steam milk and the flavour hasn’t changed, whether it’s fresh out of the bag or at the end of the 250g and about to be refilled up to +5 days).

888 blend is a bit more volatile, and I think it’s due to the Ethiopian coffee component, which is much more susceptible to oxidation due to its smaller surface area / volume ratio (ie, smaller beans). See comment below; I’ve resorted to freezing everything in 20g doses.

      • +3

Downtown fan. Found flavour much stronger than Roosevelt
We drink short milk based coffee and hits the mark for us

        • +1

I second Downtown. It's my daily home grind. Everyone who has it appreciates it. I use 20g in on my Breville DB, 50g out split over two cups. My wife likes a "regular" ratio latte, I like a piccolo - a little stronger. We both find it great. I've had a two kilo monthly sub going for the past two years and don't plan on changing.

      • First time I ordered 888 was amazing, then becoming boring. I feel like its losing its flavor very quickly between 3 - 5 weeks mark.

        • Yep, it’s the volatility of the Ethiopian coffee in this blend that makes the tasty bits disappear over time.

      • 888 is sold out in whole beans, yet available ground which makes zero sense for roaster, as surely they would grind to order from whole beans.

        • They refreshed the whole bean stock. order placed

      sunset.

Thanks OP, these are my go to coffee Roasters.

Opted for Sunset Boulevard, Lazy Daze and Lover Blend this time around.

    • Whoever downvoted this comment, are you okay?

  • Has anyone tried and recommend Lover Blend?

    • I just bought and started using this. Nothing extraordinary but good for the price.

    • what state you in? SA here

      • I’m like 5mins from their location

        • You only need to order 2kg to get discount, you can keep one in the freezer (let the gas out first for a week after roast date)
Free pick up if you're only 5 min away

          • @High: But you need 3kg to get free shipping

    • Anyone in melbs?

      • In Melbourne, I just purchased a
        888 × 1
        1kg / Whole Beans
        $28.80

        Lover Blend × 1

        1kg / Whole Beans
        $29.20

        Sunset BLVD × 1

        1kg / Wholebean
        $28.00

If you're interested in 1 of these, PM me, I probably don't need all 3 lol

      • I am in Melbourne too (Wyndham Vale)
        Ordered 3:
        888
        Sunset BLVD
        Downtown

Happy to share 1/3 or 2/3.

  • Do these freeze well?

    • +1

yeah they do personally for me

    • Yes, but expect accelerated deterioration of coffee once you open the 1kg bag and put some of it back in the freezer. Especially for decaf - I find that it’s almost a halving of extraction time +2 days post defrost (at identical grind settings)

I bought a box of these 50ml centrifuge tubes and I divide the 1kg into 50 tubes, then into the freezer. I freeze 1kg of Inglewood decaf espresso, 1kg of filter and 1kg of espresso in tubes at a time; when the tubes are empty i get the frozen 1kg bag out of the freezer and refill, or time another delivery (with deals like this) so im only freezing the coffee once overall).

      • How much headspace is in each tube after filling with 20g? Wouldn’t you be better off vacuum sealing and freezing in 100-200g quantities, then transferring into something like an Airscape canister when needed?

        • +1

Ooookay funny joke, where’d you hide the camera? Not creepy at all — get out of my kitchen! This method works perfect for me.

        • Decaf 20.5g has 0.5cm, 888 Blend at 20.5g is right on the lid, and sometimes I’ll even crack a bean. S/O Ethiopians with smaller beans might have a whole cm of headspace.

From freezer tube to grinder single dose (zero waste and zero weighing required in the moment). Doing single doses I’m able to have consistent tasting coffees from the same batch almost always. I have an airscape canister and I’ve found that it aged some delicate filter roasts faster that just using the one way valve that came with the bag, which is a huge letdown given the product’s main function. I suspect the vacuum lid on the Airscape is the culprit-when you pull it up you cause accelerated suction of air into the canister; if the air is the least bit humid then you’re actually pumping moisture across the whole bag of beans.

There’s a clever suggesting of a ziplock bag underneath that I’d rather do that use the Airscape or vacuum sealer for 200g+ batches. In the past I’ve used blank 250g coffee bean bags with one way valves and sealed them myself using a clothes iron.

          • @yojabbajabba: So which of those was the breaking point for your relationship?

      • +3

        This is over complicated

        • What’s your solution then? Or is there no solution required in your opinion because there is no problem to begin with?

          • +1

@yojabbajabba: I've never got into freezing but deals like this would force me to look into it. I was thinking the zip lock bag approach.

            • @adam149: Yeah it sucks that coffee doesn’t behave like dry aged steaks or wine.
And it sucks even more / is shrewd practice that businesses price deals like this so you have to buy 3kg to get free shipping.

When I do my next bulk order of tubes I’ll post it up in the classifieds here on OzBargain; maybe then I can encourage you to give it a try - it’s definitely worth the effort to make the most of every kg of beans.

Then again, zip lock bags are $2.20 for a pack of 40.

              Go well!

      • +4

Your process of dividing the 1kg bad into 50 portions is where you could introduce heaps of moisture even before your freeze them, which is exactly what you don't want.

You would be better off keeping the beans in the 1kg bag and placing that inside another airtight container or bag, then straight in the freezer until ready to use.

Otherwise, quickly pour out 500g to use for the first 2 weeks, seal the other 500g in the bag, and place inside another airtight container for freezing. Use in 2 batches, and the beans should still be good.

        • +1

I don't think freezing the whole 1 kg bag is good idea, I empty the 1kg into 6 airtight container and freeze and take one container out and defrost then into the hopper. This is the recommended method when defrosting. His method is similar but tailored for single dosing & involve a bit more work with 50 tubes.

          • @huntabargain: This OzBargained brews 👏
Freeze once ASAP / at ideal timing of rest post-roast. Defrost in a controlled environment. Grind and go.

        • Agreed, added ambient moisture is bad, and one day I’ll set up a dry box / dehumidifier system to fill the tubes. Maybe I’ll go to my local recycling system and get a dehydrator; I hear they are also good for mushrooms /s.

You would be better off keeping the beans in the 1kg bag and placing that inside another airtight container or bag, then straight in the freezer until ready to use.

I’ve tried counter-method you’ve proposed, and there’s a huge risk of moisture exposure - when you open a 1kg frozen bag of coffee exposed ambient air with ambient humidity > 0% the entire bag acts as a giant condenser. Add in tipping / scooping / pouring beans and the beans become a giant surface area for moisture condensation, accelerated by the fact the beans are below water’s freezing temperature.
Worse outcomes for the beans put back in the freezer, and worse for beans that have now defrosted unless they are ground immediately.

Otherwise, quickly pour out 500g to use for the first 2 weeks, seal the other 500g in the bag, and place inside another airtight container for freezing. Use in 2 batches, and the beans should still be good.

I like this suggestion more; it really doesn’t introduce moisture unnecessarily. but then you’re stuck with 500g in a grinder for X days, which sucks for consistency and predictability of brewing as time spent oxidising is what freezing the beans in the first place is trying to slow.

          • @yojabbajabba: how much better is the tubes method than none at all?

            • +1

@node modules: I’d frame it this way; the coffees I tube up end up tasting the same from tube 1 to tube 50, with no grinder adjustments, weighing pre or post grinding and a seamless changeover between caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees thru a single grinder. The tubes are 100% recycled and reused, with printed labels the only thing that is disposed per batch. Sometimes I’m lazy and I keep the same labels on them if the coffee inside will be the same. I haven’t had to adjust grind settings between beans for frozen coffees at all; no wasted shots because the dial in was way off because the beans have aged further.
For the reasons above, I’m sticking with the method.

      • +3

Easiest way to avoid this is to just transfer into 250g per zip lock bag, then shove those 4 bags back into the empty 1kg retail pouch and into the freezer. Then when you get it out, you're not having to allow the rest of the beans to thaw and absorb condensation etc. When I thaw my 250g ziplock bags, I put the entire sealed bag straight into an airtight container to they too don't absorb moisture as they warm up. Allow 7-14 days from roast date to first freezing as well - depending on the particular style of beans. I find waiting 14 days to freeze is best personally, it keeps the grind very consistent over time, without letting them go stale.

Ended up buying a little chest freezer just for coffee so I can stock up when it's on sale. Very convenient, and turns out it's great for keeping bread, pastry and ice cream too - avoids the dank onion / fish / meat stank that ends up in the everyday freezer.

        • +2

I bought a chest freezer but for keeping pizzas from the last pizza party for the next one for my employees

        • Hey, how do you thaw them? From freezer to room temperature or freezer to fridge and then room temperature?
          Thank you!

  • Does the $10 referral code stack with the 60% off?

Also which 3 blends would be recommended for milk?

    • Roosevelt is the bomb. Always come back to this one. Delicious and cuts through milk v nicely.

    • I ordered 888, downtown and love

    • I should have mentioned I like variety. I like rich dark chocolate notes, then sometimes I switch it up to something like Ona Raspberry Candy which has white chocolate and raspberry notes

    • Only one coupon per order. So no, no stacking.

  • +1

Coffees unreal, if I still had a machine would order. But highly recommend

  • anyone in canberra?

  • Thanks OP.
Never tried these guys but at these prices, I bought 3 bags.

  • How do you know when the beans were roasted?

    • Usually within a few days. Pricing aside, freshness is a strong selling point buying direct from a roaster.

Stores cannot match, as it wouldn't be practical to send new batches to stores every few days.

    • They also stamp the roasting date on the package, and as browser mentioned, usually shipped very close to the roasting date.

    • It’s supply and demand contract roasting. My orders recently have been +5 days post ordering, and the roast date on the 1kg bags received are within 2 days of the shipping label being generated.

Exception: 150g limited edition tins - they’ve been much more unpredictable

      • Do you mean they outsource the roasting? What does Inglewood control - the type and mix of beans?

    • Can confirm that they are still contract roasting. My last order was 4x 1kg on the 15th of February, and the coffee received was roasted on the 18th of February, was picked up by the courier on the 18th and delivered on the 20th of Feb.

  • Thanks OP. Perfect timing! 👌

Anyone aware of deals from Sydney roasters, for C&C? It seems only Melbourne is doing all the deals.

There is a bunch of them at Marrickville and Surry Hills keen to try.

    • I'm sydney too and want to find something similar to Inglewood in Sydney as well.

    • +2

No fake sales or discounted prices from these guys, but their standard prices are not outrageous.

Roasted locally in Minto (South-West Sydney). I like the single origins, Mexico and Honduras.

All you people freezing coffee should know better. You should not freeze coffee!

    • Not true, it's very standard practice. Do you think cafes just sit on bulk beans on a shelf?

      • +2

Cafe consume few bags a day.

    • I am curious - can you please share why?

    • How do you store your coffee?

    • It only causes issues if you don't package and store it properly. Needs to be kept free of condensation and contaminants to flavour and aroma from other items within the freezer. that's it.

  • Do they deliver to Tasmania?

    • What makes you think they don't? It's an island off the main land but every inch Australia.

      • -1

I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognise Tasmania!

      • Relax buddy…get off the meds

    • Australia wide

Thanks OP bought 3 kg Roosevelt, Downtown, Sunset BLVD delivered to Sydney 2145. Anyone wants to grab any at cost $28 let me know.

  • +4

I've tried most, and I don't know fancy coffee speak but I can tell you which ones I did/didn't like.

For context I work 2 mins away and we go through ~1kg/week on a Breville Oracle touch
I dial each for 21g in > 42g out in ~28 seconds and have with milk

My thoughts from best to worst:

Sunset BLVD - safe blend, consistently decent and rounded
Single origin Nicaraguan - fun and bright with more distinctive acidic pep
Roosevelt & Downtown - nice slightly richer/darker feeling blends than the sunset? but I'm a basic B :P
888 - can see others really liking this, but flavours just weren't for me. Kinda jammy? maybe best without milk? (I also don't like cherry ripe)
Bloom - hard to dial for some reason and didn't feel like it had as full/sweet of a flavour?

Everyone's taste is different but I hope this is helpful/interesting for some :)

    • +1

888 works great as an extended extraction of 20in/48 out

    • +1

      We like Roosevelt and Downtown.

And Bloom? Concur. A complete PITA to dial in - and not sure that it was ever worth doing.

    • +1

Omg agree on the Bloom. Could never dial it in properly. Always tasted sharp and under extracted for some reason.

      • Maybe because you were using Optus

  • +4

i still prefer the Aldi coffee beans at $17 / kg - sorry a titeas$ all the way.. haha

    • Do you ever find huge differences in taste quality between bags at Aldi? This was my jam back in 2020 for party pleasing, daily espresso-ing. What I hated was that between bags I’d find huge variations in taste, which has hard to overcome if I couldn’t get a bag with a recent roast date.
I find the price premium of a contract-roasted coffee has been worth the extra 40% premium.

    • +2

On every coffee deal ADLI beans are always mentioned… It’s quite funny.

      • Aldi has a stable price policy. Some people don’t like inflated RRP and discount games.

    • I have tried the Aldi for lattee. The taste is pretty blend other than bitter. I won't be buying it again.

      • Have you tried their Single Origin Brazil? For $27/kg they’re hard to beat

        • No, but will give that a go next time.

          • @Black Hole: Make sure to check the roast dates and try to get one less than a week since roast

            • @antik: That's what has caused me to start buying from some of these ozb deals. Inability to find anything remotely fresh at Aldi lately. I've given up after the price increases combined with this lack of freshness.

  • What's everyone's go to for an espresso/long black?

  • Thanks.
Bought a bag of sunset blvd and downtown.
I've been using coles whole beans for years and they seemed to be ok. I think they move quite a lot of it so the roast dates aren't too bad.
However, they've gradually gone up to $24 and the quality seems to have deteriorated.
Hopefully I can make a decent coffee out of this with my subpar barista skills.

  • hi, have you got any of this left in whole beans? and is it lightly roasted? https://inglewoodcoffeeroasters.com.au/collections/single-or…

  • Do they send tracking or email when it was sent? I heard nothing from them since placed order on Fri 13 Feb 2026 10AM

    • Yep, generated tracking email when mailing label is generated, then add a day for the package to be picked up.

      • Thanks, hopefully I receive the beans end of week in Sydney.
Edit: Just received email with tracking number today.

        • Same! I ordered on the 16th. No ETA on delivery yet - I presume that'll update once the consignment is picked up.
